Would it be possible to temporarily stick the original reg plates over the ones I have now just to pass the test? I don't really want to have to take these off in case I bend them etc!

Yes. I've done this in the past in the NCT carpark.

Thanks. I was told I could also cover the "slits"in the numbers with black duct tape.

After the joking about making your fuel consumption whatever you want, I did probably my first proper "long" run since I bought her, not bad for a 1.8.
Through Sligo and Mayo, so no motorway or dual carriageway miles either, plenty of speeding up and slowing down involved.

Terrible pictures from a terrible phone, and the console doesn't even look that dirty but it drove me mad so it's clean now :D

    I think they're Ray's.

Well wear, didn't realise you'd changed from the BMW

What you doing with the Monza's that are on it Paddy?

I'm not sure. They're 18x8 ET35 so need to try find out exactly what they are first. They've all the stamps on the back of the wheel, but they should be 18x7.5 ET51 if they're OE. I'll likely sell them on.

Thanks, changed over around four months back. No regrets so far!

    It looks quite smart IMO.

Except for the LED DRLs in the headlights, which to be fair aren't even that offensive (turned off anyway). Wheels look v.nice

Them headlights are the bane of my life. What ever way the previous owner installed them only the driver side lights up when you have your parkers on. But works fine with headlights on.
I want to get them swapped out for a standard set. Was told them LED headlights go for decent money too!

I'm sure it's a straightforward fix. What do they look like lit up?

Wow that 106 is in amazing nick. Fantastic car, unreal handling. Haven't seen one in years(a mate owned one back in the day), great to see one still on the road. :)

another week, another throw back Thursday :pac: 1.6 VVTi SR. I look back on it fondly now, but at the time, it was a harsh mistress. i sold it to a local chap who still has it and as hard as it may be to believe he drives it daily but washes it after every use and stores it under a cover on his driveway at night, every night, won't drive it if it's raining type of guy. nice to see i guess, but a bit mad.

those were also the days where i didn't mind taking the whole car apart just to clean it. just don't think i'd have the energy for that any more.

Cheers, yeah she's in pretty good nick in fairness.
Few little bits that could do with tidying, but for the age you'd expect that.

Great car for the back roads, very impressive handling as you've mentioned :)
