If you use fuelly it will tell you your cost per km/ miles based on total mileage travelled vs total cost. It's actually a great tool once you get into the habit of using it. I mean you can look and see total spends fuel costs 6 months ago, mpg at any time great tool really. But I suppose it's one extra thing to do everytime you fill up.

yeah, fuelly is fascinating (see my sig :pac:)

mad to see the figures, you can see a dramatic increase in mpg's on mine after i got the new engine fitted for example. also represents fuel as an ownership cost, which most people never see it as.

i've spent €1500 on petrol since February, nearly as much as i paid for the car.

Might give fuelly a go. I think I actually signed up for it a while back but never used it.

Meanwhile I've spent €1025 on petrol since mid June (which is 4x more than what I paid for the car :pac:). Seems like your Celica gets almost exactly the same MPG than my 1.2 Punto. Madness. :P

Perhaps, but I couldn't afford a Celica or the bills that go with it. :(

I just downloaded the fuelly app there too and it has even more stats. My average fill up cost is 47.52 euro, average cost per litre 1.28 euro, average mpg 49.2 which isn't spectacular infairness. It will be interesting to see will it drop much going through winter.

Edit: The car is convinced it's doing 56 mpg all the time and 1200-1300km to a tank :pac: I miss having an accurate trip computer vw one was always within 1 mpg.

that's what i thought. we've clearly proven that petrol isn't an issue :) tax is a little dear, but not unmanageable. the cars are for nothing and so is the insurance.

my average fill €42.79, cost per liter €1.36, mpg 39.6. mad how little there is in it for 2 very far removed cars.

i think this is the week where i crack 40mpg average. that will be a good week. that's 7 more than toyota thought :pac:

Ye there is not that much at all. I think the Megane is hard on fuel for what it is a mk5/mk6 golf diesel would easily do 55mpg under the exact same driving. I'd imagine I'd get another 1-2mpg if I drove it at 110kmh on the motorway but fcuk that tbh 2 hours is long enough to get to cork I mean the best I ever got over 20 fill ups is 51.4 mpg. Anyway all that doesn't ultimately doesn't make a huge difference to the fuel cost based on 30k km a year but still.

jaysis that's desperate :P. i've a lot of late 20's stuff from earlier on in the year dragging my average down, but out on the motorway these last few months i'm averaging 42-43mpg across a tank, easy. that's doing 120 where i can but keeping a light foot.

    what does the megane weigh?

1215kg according to parkers that sounds average enough maybe not ? I think the gearbox is wrong for the car 5th in particular is too lowly geared meaning it revs too high altogether all the ones from this year on have 6 speed boxes. Although that can't be the cause of all the problem.

Anyone know how often a auxiliary belt should be changed on a Yaris? Looked online but it doesn't say...

i'd only change it if it was making noise or looked worn out, i don't think there's a set interval.

it's one of very few jobs on the yaris that is a pain in the hole to do. you have to prop the engine and take off the driver side engine mount.

i guess it's actually not even difficult, just more difficult than it needs to be.

Seeing as my rear left door is staying closed via superglue, I decided to brush up on my masking tape skills! Will try and rectify the issue during the week. Won't have any back passengers anyway. Probably wont even be on the road come to think of it!

If it looks visually ok with no cracking or wear of the sides and it doesn't make any noise on start up then it would be a safe enough assumption to make that it won't snap anytime soon. No point replacing good parts for the fear the car might breakdown. Sh!t happens if the car wants to breakdown it will. Obviously if a part was heavily worn and failure was inevitable in the short term you would change that part. Chances are a 16 year old (I think) Yaris has gotten a fan belt at some stage in its life anyway or the rubber would be cracked at this stage.

Just get some self drilling / tech screws and screw the door shut because that wouldn't look rough at all :pac:

Heading to Maynooth now, visibility is about 100 feet. You wouldn't believe the amount of idiots with no lights on. Said to the dad there that we might turn off the engine and wind down the windows when we get to a crossroads, just to be sure there's nothing coming.

    Here's a manual for the i30:

It says the bottom button is indeed for cancelling CC.

3.5 years and counting... not bad going. When I bought it I thought I'd have it for a year and buy something more reasonable to run. But look at me now!

It hasn't been too bad in terms of maintenance all considered. Nothing too shocking cost wise fixing it up.

Mondello sometimes do track day training for people to get a taste for it, was cheap when I did it and was a good time, give mondello a ring and see what they say as they didnt advertise it when I done it.
    YbFocus wrote: »

As Chris says there is some kind of training available too if you wish to go that route!

I gave Mondello a ring there and there and the track day training must be off for winter, the next session will be in March they think.

I see the auto heroes thing is a monthly thing. Would this be a good option?
