Yeah, I find it very interesting too. :)

€0.25 seems pretty good for a car like yours. How long do you have it?

Since January, but the mileage at 43,000km so far has knocked the socks off the tax and insurance to bring it down well I'd reckon...

15k mileage would see it at €0.44!

So the big mileage hides it :)

You forgot to include the car itself, CIP.

Just done the maths cos I love this stuff :)
Taking the same.. Price of car, cost of fuel and parts, tax and insurance.

    €0.25 per Km over 43,000km :)

Price of car van, cost of fuel and parts, tax and insurance = €0 and yes, I'm as smug as fcuk about it! Never had a perk like that before :pac:

The Volvo will be gone soon :( Will be looking for something for the weekend in the new year so will be looking for your and everyone else's advice when the time comes. No idea what I want yet. Probably won't have anything in particular in mind either.

I've never been sad to see a car go before except my first car but selling the S60 won't be easy. I genuinely love that car. Not the prettiest and left me in shít once or twice but a fantastic car.

Assuming my average consumption has been 38.85 MPG and the average price of petrol has been €1.31, I have paid €0.127 per KM (including price of the car and "parts" put into it). €0.18 if you include tax and insurance as well.

*10767 KM done since my ownership over 4.5 months.

I wouldn't even want to work mine out....

Near 11k km in four months in a punto is good going! That being said I put 21k km on my rental in just over a month..........

Ah only seen there you were including the price of the car. I can't see what sense it would be to add the whole price of the car as no ones car is now worthless. Depreciation would certainly be a cost alright.

For my Megane it is as follows:
    €0.08 per km fuel
    €0.05 per km insurance
    €0.01 per km tax
€0.02 for km parts / maintenance hasn't cost anything so far but will be getting a service over christmas so ill ad that in as an average.

Total €0.16 per km over 13k km.

taking the Celica at a conservative estimate of 25k km's per year.

    €0.10 per km fuel
    €0.03 per km insurance
    €0.02 per km tax
    €0.15 per km all in

    not too shabby imo.

if i ad the price of the replacement engine, rad, water pump, thermostat, clutch kit, alternator, iridium plugs, K&N drop in, battery, new wheels, tyres, head unit, gearbox oil and around 4 oil changes (€2k ish) that figure takes a big jump to €0.23 per km, but yolo, the car is going like a breeze.

then if i include the car itself, its €0.34 per km, so far, having done just over 16k km.

long story short, if i had have bought a less **** Celica i'd only be around €0.25 per km. i have no regrets :pac:

love a bit of man maths!

She did indeed! Car was absolutely flawless for the day!

Decided last minute that it'd be a good idea to take the Alfa GTV and see what it's really made of yesterday. Paid €70 for 4 hours track time and I couldn't have spent the money any better. Absolutely great fun!

Car was really being pushed on by myself and Ded Zebra and it didn't miss a beat all day, drove down and back without a hiccup which I was really delighted about!

Currently in Philadelphia airport awaiting a connection to Atlanta now facing the reality of work tomorrow morning...:o

    Poor you :)

Yeah I haven't had as much fun in ages, the Alfa as I was saying there looked dead planted and very encouraging to drive, my car was a little more loose :)

So a big positive review for the Autogrips then?

They are absolutely hideous! Delighted to see we agree on something :D

The plan will definitely be to change them for sure but finding the right set at the right money and time is the tough part.

Something like your Celica would have been a great car to have on the track!

we agree on lots, it's just more fun to fight on the interwebs.

would love to take the Celica out sometime but it'd probably break. the only original part of the car is the gearbox and that isn't sounding too great lately :pac:

Go home for a week and come back to deal with all the politics that went on!

Yeah it was encouraging alright and yours was classic E36, what a wonderful machine! Let me know if you go ahead and do the oil thing and change it up!

Autogrips are absolutely atrocious. Thankfully the fronts are nearly worn now :)

    The man speaks the truth!

Something like it would be ideal though, 190bhp(?) and a good chassis and good brakes is al you need for cracking entertainment!

Definitely doing the oil as once it cooled it was fine again, a 50 grade should do using the other mans idea.
That and a decent set of pads!

just seen this post in the Aviation forum by chance, in the thread about that unfortunate plane that went down over Egypt. there must be something behind this 15 year rule thing.

My car is running like a dream at the moment. Absolutely love driving it. Covering fair mileage (for me at least :p) and getting 26.1mpg from the trip computer which is amazing. Was too used to seeing it at 23mpg for a long time. Still pulls hard, handles great and wills you to drive. What more could you want from a car :).

it's a great feeling in fairness. just enjoying the car for no particular reason at all :)

felt somewhat the same as i've been driving the Astra the last 2 weeks, got back into the Celica yesterday and i was like "i love you so much car" the drive is so much more connected and it pulls like a train.

Had a couple sh1tboxes years back I should have kept as track cars. Had two Supra's, an '89 auto and a '90 TT manual that had thrown a leg. There was good potential there but I ended up paying someone €200 to take them both out of my way while I worked abroad for a couple years.

    Thick cvnt. :(

You paid someone 200 quid to take two supra's away....Ouch:eek:

Fair play for having the balls to admit it though

I think everyone knows about my lovee for my car at this stage :pac: Still has her leaks due to me not having time to get to sort, but every time I sit in and drive it, even being an auto, I smile and then the redline comes up :D

The MA70 is a seriously handsome car, and it has pop up headlights so it's like +100 enthusiast points! you wouldn't buy the badge for one for €200 today.

Should I make a thread about the whole €/KM thing? I'm strangely fascinated by it. :P

    Would like more results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

cents per mile fuel consumption is fascinating.

cents per mile ownership costs will just turn into a war of words i'd say as the more you drive the less you pay and i just can't see many people understanding that.

I worked it out once for my CMax, will dig it up if you do.
It's surprisingly hard to work out and there is always guesswork. I'm sure I made a complete hash of it.

It's interesting and illustrative if you lock the annual mileage at whatever it is normally, if you takeny meaning.
