I read a little about this day, and also see some open track days on different forums and advertised by Mondello etc.

I would be interested in giving this a try but really have zero experience on track. Did a driver rally experience thing before and a supercar thing in nutts corner with very little actual fast driving.

Main concerns would be stuff like insurance, wrecking the car, doing stuff completely wrong and getting in the way of people etc. I would just be bringing my daily driver so not even sure if that's a good idea.

What is the best option for a taster at this sort of stuff? The tarmac thing tomorrow looked good to me then when I saw it was part of a bigger show and limited spots I wasn't so sure. :o

Good luck in the BM tomorrow btw

Mondello sometimes do track day training for people to get a taste for it, was cheap when I did it and was a good time, give mondello a ring and see what they say as they didnt advertise it when I done it.

Thanks man, its easy to keep out of the way, with any awareness you'll see the quickest cars approaching.
I am in my daily tomorrow and have gone to good lenght to make sure its up to it. I am there for 4 hours but if I do 90 mins or two hours driving that will be the most. Regular cool down for yourself and your car is important I think :)

As Chris says there is some kind of training available too if you wish to go that route!

Your insurance is void while on track, you crash it is on your head.
Fine for me with my 2k car but not so much I guess for you!

Yeah, I remember looking into this before with a previous car I had an interest in taking to a track. I youtubed Mondello and all looked well until some fella got completely cleaned out of it by another car, not his fault at all. Had a quick look there, think this was it:

I'd say your motor is a great one for this kind of thing, plenty of craic and learning to be had.

I took my daily there as well. If I was able to stay out of the way of the faster cars in a 1.2 econobox, then so can you. Overtaking is on the left side and usually just on the straight. Use your mirrors and you'll be fine. You'll hear most track prepared cars if they're close anyway. :P

As said, you can book a taster or half a day.

It's very fun, you can throw it around, weight balance is like 48:52 F:R so it feels great! Sounds good too!
In the case of something crap happening, I have my choice of super cheap parts from people breaking them!

No brainer to use it at the odd track day!

    2 Year NCT.

    Win.

Has to be verified with head office because 'lol portable gas chamber', but golddust on a 10yo car. It feels like an achievement. A slightly pathetic one, but still an achievement.

Knowing bureaucracy, it'll be delayed until after the cutoff date because of the emissions.

But. It passed. I fixed my **** myself and it passed.

Anyone ever get this with a car they drove with cruise control. You be going along fine then all of a sudden the slightest I wouldn't even say judder slightest jerk and the speed drops of as the cc knocks of. The Megane done it today and has done it 3 times in the past so your not talking to often considering it spends a lot of time with cc on on the motorway. I'm thinking it maybe just the relatively low powered engine I struggling to maintain the motorway speed the very odd time and cc is cancelling if speed drops of at all.

Noticed that the rear door catch was a bit loose on the focus, so the door woulsn't close flush. Bottom screw was loose, so I stupidly decided to undo the top one. Bottom screw came out, and once the top was loosened, the whole mechanism on the inner side (i.e what the screws thread into) fell into the body of the car, and I can't get a hold of it. Put hooked wire in and a magnetic head, but can't get the screw holder thing up. So now I have this catch that's loose and thus a door that won't close. As a temp measure, I super glued the latch back on and shut the door. Put masking tape ovet both the outside and inside handles so no one will open the door and knock the latch off again. If the glue fails the door will open, so need to get a replacement screw holder bit asap.

Trust me to make a bollox of the job.

This is the part I'm on about.

Tried to cut and shape a piece of perspex to fit. Superglued it in.

    It fell out.

    Worth a shot anyway.

Cruise should never cut off if it drops speed, it should accelerate to maintain a constant speed. Could the clutch be going or slipping maybe with it?

Having driven the e46 a few days now have to say it's a nice car to drive nice and nble on the bends feels sturdy and in all honesty think I prefer the interior on the e46 than the e60.

But the 2.0l engine in the one I have is dire no power especially higher up the gears and for a car with no power it's a thirsty fecker on the juice.

Bad news is I'm in it for another few days got the glow plug module done dpf cleaned out and he said went into limp mode again thinks it's the dpf sensor which is ordered for Monday .

    Faulty sensor, maybe.

Most cars will knock cc off if you tap the clutch or brake. If the switch is getting rattled and has a loose wire it could be sending the 'cance' signal.

I hope not. The clutch is not slipping on it and if it is it must be only the very beginnings and not properly noticeable. But then I've gone up steep enough hills with out and it's never knocked off so I don't think it's the clutch.

Possibly alright. I mean once it knocks off and you press resume it just back to the speed. It has never done it twice in a journey and it's rare enough as I said about 5 times in total over the last 3 months. So I'll have to keep an eye on it and see if it gets more frequent.

Slightly macabre but this shows what can happen if you don't wear a seatbelt. The victim was flung from the car and landed 20ft up on a gantry over the road.I've noticed in my locality that it's the same few people who drive around and never wear seatbelts.
