Bands who change there singers

What bands would not benefit from changing there lead singers ???. I think u2, def lepperd, Metallica, Asian, foo fighters to name a few would be disasters with new singers

A lot of older bands have lost there original singers to retirement,health, break up, etc but sell there tickets through there hits sung by the former front person and there newer songs are not as good eg journey, foreigner.

It has worked for some bands changing leads eg Acdc, Fleetwood Mac, iron maiden, van halen, the dubliners and thin Lizzy to a small extent.

Queen with the American Idol guy are not the same without mercury

I give you Faith No More. started out with moderate success with Mike Morris on vocals in 1981. In 1989 Mike Patton replaced Morris and Faith No More became fairly huge or more successful, so it works for the better sometimes.

Dropkick Murphys did it.
The Pogues tried it.
It worked for Iron Maiden once, but didn't work for them the second time.
Blind Melon and Alice in Chains had to do it.

I guess AC/DC had to do it too, and work out best for them.

Wouldn't be Nine Inch Nails then

It was always pretty much his solo project anyway with whatever musicians he could drag along as his touring band.

Black Flag is a good example of a band changing frontman multiple times and still being successful. Henry Rollins is seen as the definitive frontman but Keith Morris, Ron Reyes and Dez Cadena were great as well.

Alice in Chains replaced their singer after the first lad died of a heroin overdose. The transition was very smooth in fairness.

The Doors tried twice, once with Iggy Pop shortly after Jim died and thenmuch more recently with Ian Astbury from the Cult. I think Iggy was too off his nut on smack to be of any use and Ian just played a few live shows with the band. I'm sure he was great.

He was great,saw them in the Point .I won tickets to see them with the Sunday World.
He had Jim down to a tee.
