Ger Cunningham in Dublin , Donal Og in Clare ...we are a joke to leave people like them go but whats new well done CCB again...I am going out today to put money on Clare to win the All-Ireland next year and I am not a betting man ..still as Eamon Murphy of the Echo said if Clare and Cork cross paths next year it will be "box office" !!

Good enough team. What about Sean O'Donoghue who was playing on this years team? He still has 2 years left at this grade

Also I'm fairly sure Dillon Cahill is overage for 2016

You are right Sean O Donoghue player well this year and indeed JBM had him with the seniors for the Waterford Crystal Tourament ....but I think long term is has the makings of a very good footballer as a half forward.

I'd agree with you that probably more of a football prospect. His hurling doesn't seem sharp enough to make it at senior level

Never realised Flannery was with Oulart the Ballagh until I saw highlights of the Wexford county final on tg4 tonight

None of the players are going anywhere, so I doubt Cunningham is in that much bother. Bar the second Galway game Dublin did ok last year.

He went there last year around this time as I posted such news here
He's a good coach was with the cork minors and played good still but due to a manager imo picking lads in the wrong position was the problem.
Was with waterford for one year in the senior hurling and left.
Coached milford to camoige titles and was with cit I belive.
He's style is fast attacking hurling but he can coach a sweeper also.

That's old news in that happened month ago
Coughlan left as he couldn't commit but there's no problem with cunningjham as there friends and are both from the barrs
Boland left and while he's a good hurling coach it was never going to work when it rarely does that a manager who gets the job ahead of a coach who wanted to become manager himself is suddenly second in command working with the same manager

The balance imo was incorrect in the management back room but it's no surprise Dublin want home grown coach as a player said in an interview last week he was pleading that cunningjham gets a home grown Dublin coach and imo he was trying to force cunningjham hand

Cunningjham needs to get a few of the older panel off the panel if he brings in an outside coach as they aren't open to it.
It's all well and good for Dublin to say they want a home grown coach but the question is is there any proven coach for inter county there

Also Dublin Liam rushe said last year before cunningjham was appointed that he felt Dublin needed an outside coach with proven all ireland success
Suddenly a few players seem to want Dublin selectors.

Thought Kingston would do better than Flannery if true. Wafflers always seem to get jobs.
TTM... I thought the attitude of Dripsey in 2nd half Saturday nite was very poor. Their centre back went in Corner back to do a hatchet job on O Brien and he succeeded in getting both red cards. Joe Larkin the referee showed terrible judgement and common sense. Another Cork referee who likes the limelight.

    I'd agree smith
Charville were definitely the cork team of the year with the hurling they played In that grade
    Will finn stay with them
Surely alan dennehy will get games with cork now.

I don't know if flannery is in it was posted by some one else
As regards the football healy said in the echo he's looking at a city selector
Hopefully colin corkery or Larry kavanagh or Tony Leahy etc

When else would you play it?

Blackrock are in the senior league play offs this weekend, Kanturk and Dromtariffe are also playing hurling league finals.

Last Friday night as originally scheduled should have been kept.

I would feel for the ccb in this regard in its tough to facilitate this game
This isn't like last Saturday games being moved around
Who would you think will win this
Would you give duhallow any chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 571 ✭✭✭Figsy32

The U21 game was moved from Friday to Monday though and because of that te pitch couldn't take the rain. So the teams have a right to feel aggrieved.

Eammon Murphy reporting the 'dual players' are playing the same codes as last year. Personally think that Cahalane and Walsh would be a lot more valuable to the footballers but the hurlers do need whoever they can get at the moment. Walsh and Maguire in midfield for the footballers and Cahalane marshalling the half back line would give the team a much needed back bone.

Yeah I'd give duhallow quite a good chance. Saw them playing a practice game a few weeks ago without the Kanturk players and Hannon from Newmarket was also missing. They were impressive looking and had a good win vs Blarney
Still would expect Blackrock to edge it but would be a close game I think

Aidan Walsh has won all stars at midfield in football and Cork were lacking in that sector last year so would agree he'd be a massive addition to the football squad.

Gemma O'Connor and Orla Cotter nominated for player of the year

I agree but the footballers will not now have Walsh or Cahalane ...and Ian Maguire with his back problems we do not know if he will be playing or not .

Cian mccarthy Conor sullivan Egan and Patrick mahony and Leahy and Cormack and cashman all called up for cork
Haughey also in thirty three man panel
Coughlan and rob o shea dropped

Haughey nothing against him but this is around the fourth times he's been called up every year and purely performance he's proved not inter county standard
O shea dropped who has real cut to he's hurling and had good season
Mccarthy is fine club Player but I hope to be wrong but imo lacks pace and mobility for modern game and he's good in the air if comes up against rriche mccarthy or Barry of tipp they will compete under the high ball but he's lack of pace is a worry

The dropping of coughlan and o shea and going for haughey and mccarthy imo is a sign it's direct hurling and that is a concern going forward

No alan dennehy apparently or Danny flynn surely who never got a chance deserves a chance over haughey
None of the hurlers are going to football which is good
Egan is good on he's day but inconsistent and nagle Twomey noonan etc should got call up
It seems Kingston is going back to players that were there before
Conor sullivan is a good recall
Leahy and mahony and the others deserved to be called up but imo a mixed selection over all

The huge worry is there's no cover for full back in yes Joyce is coming back but imo mahony as proved in the county final two years ago when he struggled against cussen and indeed for cork under twenty one imo is yes inter county player but at half back not full
I can't belive if so no one of charville called up when they stormed to a county

Kevin o Neill should of been there
    John Cronin
It will be interesting to see the full panel but as reported in the echo tonight no mention of any glen men apart from the two already called up
Very surprised and would have hoped for more change
Flannery and declan sullivan the coach and trainer as Cork double correctly said

I am disappointed to see Rob O Shea cut but more so Jamie Coughlan I have great time for this fella has had lots of injurys but I felt this year he was coming again ..happy to see the return of Conor Sull , Cian McC, and William Egan ..but not sure about Haughney ...great to see Conor Twomey, Niall Cashman, Cathal Cormack, Will Leahy and very happy about Patrick O Mahony ...what a pity no Colm Spillane or Pa O Callaghan......over all I would hope that Jamie Coughlan, Colm Spillane and Pa O Callaghan might be involved again in the future all young enough to do so.

With the greatest respect to some some cork hurlers are getting chances after chance while others get no chance and rob o shea in any game he played at senior and even beaten under twenty one team always performed yet haughey fine club Player has been given way more chances gets a Recall

You can tell a lot by management naming of a panel and I was hoping like you cork double other new faces got called up

Egan is fine on a good day but he's been inconsistent in big games
I think it's clear Kingston with the rock etc are going for old style cork hurling and no posession game and that itself is a huge worry going forward imo
But time will tell and hopefully it will work out.

Colm Spillane is on it alright. Like the lads who were called up in the main. There's probably more out there who could get a look in but they are limited in numbers. Wouldn't have Cian Mc back personally but game of opinions. I'd imagine more lads will get chances in Spring.

Disappointed about Rob O'Shea. Hard to see how he's gone from borderline starter to not in a 33 man panel. Same with Jamie Coughlan. Maybe something more to it? They'd both be of an age where they'd be in final year or out of college so that might be a reason?
