Lads, will ye give the OP a break, I can see where they're coming from (I think).

Possibly the thinking is, and I'm only guessing here, coming from the point of view of a believer: How can you get through life knowing that at the end of it, it was all for nothing.

Please dont go off topic by discussing the OP.

Now then. Hitler vs Stalin. Who would win in a fist fight?

I’m not an atheist and have often wondered about what defines one as such. To be an atheist, I believe you have to accept that other people are actually convinced there is a divine leader that they believe exists and you don’t. Not for one moment do I believe that that is the case. I believe that people that do believe are delusional, so I would categorise myself as beyond atheism as there is nothing there not to believe in in the first instance. I suppose it’s a 0 multiplied by 0 = 0 scenario.

So, to answer the OP, I’m quite happy with my life and glad I was born. I work hard as does my wife and we bring up our daughter and look forward to our happy times together. I don’t need the promise of eternal life, 40 virgins or any other ****e that has no foundation.

That first paragraph gave me a headache. Are you saying that because a person has a belief that you consider delusional that they don't believe what they say they believe? So there is no point in being an atheist as theists are delusional and I should just ignore them.

I love a bit of scrambled egg and toast myself. Toast has to be hot with melting butter.

Thank God for scramble egg and toast.
And for Gordon Ramsey for teaching us how too cook.

I'm glad I was born, even through the hell I went through in my life like many others. I couldn't imagine not knowing my beautiful family and amazing people and dogs I have connection with, and the beauty of other folk out there that live the life of genuine love for others. I'm happy to have experienced this alone. And I'm atheist.

I just don't see or measure a God till this date. Too many made-up Gods out there on this sad world. When you see so many loved ones and genuine folk being taken away in death at even an early age you wonder why a so-called good God of our creation would do such a thing. Create only to destroy.

luke warm toast all the way. maybe slightly stale as well. cold enough so the butter doesn't melt.
kinda like maltaser's, you want the butter to melt in your mouth not on your toast!

    OP...

I mean - what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
    - you're going back to nothing.
    What have you lost? Nothing.

Always look on the right side
    (I mean) of life...

I don't think you go back to nothing because you have to first understand what the word nothing means. Empty ? gone ? non-existent ? but what does nothing really mean. Even nothing is something of such that we don't yet understand. It's early days yet to understand this just like it is with so-called empty space so-called dark matter. Time will tell, and then yet again the science books will have to be reorganised yet again over time.

Yeah and should doughnuts have a hole in the middle or not. Am I paying for nothing or is it that I don't understand yet. Also where does the jam go if there is dark matter in the middle.

This is the question you have to ask yourself. If nothing is something (as it has to go somewhere) Where is this nothing ? and what is it. When you find the answer to what nothing is... then you find the answer to everything. :)

What is nothing ?. If for instance I said to you to sit in a medium sized room with light and the visuals of your room surroundings of objects you are familiar with and asked you do you see them clearly, you would say yes you can see them clearly.

If then I asked you what else can you see ? you would say nothing. But there is much more in your space of sight but you cannot see it because your visual sight is only capable of seeing in a very short light spectrum. all electrical devices in and around your abode is sending radio signals everywhere and if you could apply your sight to see all of this you would see that there is something there but you would be blind to your natural environment and now see a series of radio waves and infra-red waves much more than the colour of the rainbow.

Basically, if you could see all of the electromagnetic spectrum at once you would be visualising an amazing display of all colours and would be oblivious to the sight of your hand if it was held right in front of your face.

Nothing there ? there's always something there but we haven't progressed far enough yet to understand the nothingness. Everything is something, even nothing.

I cant help thinking that THC might be aiding you in your search for knowledge.

Daft question I think. The flip side would be
As a theist are you looking forward to death?

Actually yes! Do I want to go today..personally there is too much to do so leave me a while longer.
But death isn't a problem for me. I'll come face to face with the One I serve.
I was faced with the very real possibility of it a few weeks ago with having my heart stopped for surgery. there was no guarantee it would restart. The only concern was leaving my family behind trying to manage without me.

Will you ask them if they want fries?

I'll come face to face with the One I serve.

I can't think of anything more arrogant than the expectation of a personal relationship with the alleged creator of the entire universe. He'll make time in his busy eternity just for little old you. Course he will.

I thought it was atheists who were supposed to be self-centred and arrogant :p

You've obviously missed the point of the Christian Gospel. To point to just reference. Paul in his letter to the Philippians says "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"

Ah good old science making you live longer.

Is there a point in that statement ?

Did Paul ever get any replies to his letters?

As long as they are not written in crayon or discoursing on ecumenical matters. I even send thank you letters for bank statements.

Paul said a lot of stuff.

    "That's magic!"

"You'll like it. Not a lot, but you'll like it."

We're talking about Paul Daniels here, right?!!

Typical A&A , don't agree with something and instead of arguing the case just disparage it.

Are you upset about Hawaiian pizza or jaffa cakes not being biscuits?

What case? The OP has no case, or at least hasn't presented one. Therefore, we had to resort to our backlog of unsolved cases, as we tend to do when there is an open thread but no case has been made.
