    Which are better:

Men's love songs towards women or women's love songs about men? Or should I say why are men's love songs about women so much better?

Bit of a silly question, no?

Like asking if willies or fannies are better.

    No

Women seem to like love songs because they would like a man to feel the way about them as in the song. Therefore both sexes prefer men's love songs over women's

There's a few out there, but not as many.

Or as Dylan said, women feel that way about shoes.

Men write better songs than women.

When it comes to love songs, it has to be God Only Knows by The Beach Boys. It's just perfect.

they're both just somebody done somebody wrong songs

Basically, in general, men Do romance, and woman Receive it. It's like asking how come Honda manufacturers can make better cars than people that really really like Honda's. It's like anything, a matter of practice and experience. You don't get good at plastering a house by having had someone plaster your house a couple of times.

It depends on the type of music i guess. Boybands and girlbands singing cheesy lyrics like "your the key to my heart" or "two become one" are really bad imo.

I suppose say for example John Lennon's "Jealous Guy", the lyrics in that are quite real and raw and believable. I know female singers who sing songs just as good but maybe some male ones are seen as better because men in general are assumed to be less verbally emotional so when they show vunerability in a song, maybe it has more impact?

Ah yea i dont mean them when i say boyband. The lyrics are believable. A bloke falling in love in the summer hanging out at the boardwalk. That song is romantic.

but if any bloke turned around to a girl (well i can only speak for myself) and said "your the key to my heart and we will never be apart", i would just cringe :)

What if a fella did a bit or a rap for ya?

"Girl I love the way you gyrate your hips and push your ass out."
"Got me wanting it so bad I think I'm about to pass out."

I think men write better breakup songs than love songs.
"A night in " by the Tindersticks is the first song to come to mind.

I guess it depends on the mood haha :)

No but i dont mean if someone actually sang the song literally to me. I just mean the words in the song are not believable.

Counterpoint to that idea is, Jolene by Dolly Parton .
And yes I am a straight man with much love for a bit of Dolly :-)

Im not surprised all the men love Jolene since its a woman singing about another woman :)

Ah no it is a great song.

Debatable. Joni Mitchell and Carole King, for example, have written their fair share of love songs that are pretty much head and shoulders above the vast majority of male singer/songwriters, imo.

Ah no it is a great song.

It's one of the most 'soul stripped bare' songs ever put out there in relation to love. "I know he'd choose you, and I know you'd chose her, but jesus fvcking christ please choose me".

Reminds me of this Neil Gaimann quote on love

"Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love."

And also this Beautiful South song along the same lines...

Not going to be PC about this- this is something I say all the time; men write better love songs

I'll surely think of more but off the top of my head; Jeff Buckley...

    "Last Goodbye"

    This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
    But it's over
Just hear this and then i'll go
You gave me more to live for
    More than you'll ever know

    This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can't we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it's just because i didn't know you at all

    Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry 'cause i know that in time
I'll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

Did you say 'no, this can't happen to me,'
And did you rush to the phone to call
Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind
Saying maybe you didn't know him at all
You didn't know him at all, oh, you didn't know

Well, the bells out in the church tower chime
Burning clues into this heart of mine
Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories
Offer signs that it's over... it's over

    and...

    "Lover, You Should've Come Over"

Looking out the door i see the rain fall upon the funeral mourners
Parading in a wake of sad relations as their shoes fill up with water
And maybe i'm too young to keep good love from going wrong
But tonight you're on my mind so you never know

When i'm broken down and hungry for your love with no way to feed it
Where are you tonight, child you know how much i need it
Too young to hold on and too old to just break free and run

Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun
And much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that really, he has no-one

So i'll wait for you... and i'll burn
Will I ever see your sweet return
    Oh will I ever learn

Oh lover, you should've come over
    'Cause it's not too late

Lonely is the room, the bed is made, the open window lets the rain in
Burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him
My body turns and yearns for a sleep that will never come

It's never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder
It's never over, all my riches for her smiles when i slept so soft against her
It's never over, all my blood for the sweetness of her laughter
It's never over, she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever

Well maybe i'm just too young
To keep good love from going wrong

Oh... lover, you should've come over
    'Cause it's not too late

Well I feel too young to hold on
And i'm much too old to break free and run
Too deaf, dumb, and blind to see the damage i've done
Sweet lover, you should've come over
Oh, love well i'm waiting for you

    Lover, you should've come over
    'Cause it's not too late

the song 'I can't live if living is without you...' by Air Supply is a powerful song if you listen to singer's delivery, he does sound like he means it...

I can't imagine he won back her heart though.. in reality he was probably a torture to live with, self-obsessed moan, leaves the toilet seat up, snores etc.
