Ah jaaaaysus lad. Use the bit of warranty thats left!!! Obviously there is a problem somewhere. Tell em there is an abnormal noise coming from somewhere from time to time but you can't quite pin point where its coming from. Thats their mechanics job. Not yours! You paid enough for the thing in the first place. Leave it with them for a day or two and tell them you want a car for that time. Last thing you want is your fairly newish car on the side of the road.

I said before that I've given up chasing unusual noises in my car. Its too old and no one elses problem but mine. If it goes bang then so be it. I'll deal with it then. Obviously if I know that the brakes/suspension/steering/tyres etc are fcuked I will deal with it ASAP. Thankfully a lot of preventive maintenance is carried out to avoid such things but still. If I was in a position to own a car under warranty that started making noticeable unusual noises it would be going straight back to where it came from until the problem is sorted.

Oh I know what your saying but I would be struggling to go without it for a few days. The way I see it I know all the lads well over there and if they did find something in the service in December I wouldn't imagine there will be any issue with them fixing it there not going to pull out the calendar and say oh it's 2 weeks out of warranty tough sh!t. So at the moment it would be very inconvenient for me to bring it till December holidays simply because I'm in cork during the week the garage is in Carlow.

But obviously if it does it again I'll make it more of a priority but at the moment I still think it's the fan as it even kind of just sounded like a rough fan. I mean a bad alternator bearing or clutch would not just be bad then be fine for a month 3k km then make the noise for 30 seconds again and not do it again and if it is the fan I can't see that leaving me stranded as it's not on most of the time anyway. But maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think you'll be doing enough snow driving to justify a set of snow tyres.

Ya, it is Ireland I suppose... But my work commute is the real back roads with grass in the middle.. So there is. 0 chance of them been gritted if we do get snow.....

I always just buy premium standard tyres like goodyears or Bridgestone and I've driven to cork in snow a few times and plenty of icy mornings and never had any issue you just suit your driving to the conditions. I'm not necessarily saying winter tyres are if no benefit but I fail to see the need for them in Ireland. Just pool the money you were going to spend on winter tyres and buy a decent main brand all year round tyre just my opinion though.

Ya, that's similar to Colms point.. But surely the all weather tyre will give better grip than the summer tyre? Also as you say you suit you driving to conditions which is true and you'd not be doing 80k/ph in snow on winter tyres... But it was sorta peace of mind for me to get winter tyres, but then again that's not really a a good reason to buy winter tyres..

I'm going car shipping tomorrow to replace a Skoda Yeti, most likely with another. But is there anything else out there that's comparable? Must have a petrol engine, high driving position and lots of visibility and be easy to park. Captur and Mokka are too small and enclosed, Qushqai also feels enclosed, not as much usable space and seems to be bigger without any intelligent gain in space. Anything else out there? Don't want an MPV type vehicle like alike a Note.

Golf plus 1.2tsi they are fairly high up. Could be a bit more expensive compared to a yeti I'm not sure. Not exactly a looker but they are huge inside very practical and are high up driving position wise.

The car that's being traded only has 25k kms after 3 years so a diesel would be a bonkers choice IMHO

Probably going to be shouted down but what about something like a 218i Tourer yokey, doesn't look the worst in Sport guise.

Was driving along the main Dublin Westport road a while back, around Ballaghaderreen area I think. Nice new 152 golf R infront of me. Both of us travelling along nicely, wide road, wide hard shoulders. I seen a few car lights pulled into the left hand side infront, and just up ahead was 3 lads diffing. Old clattered bmws. What really annoyed me is that they didn't even give a shyte that we had to stop, they didn't even pull out of the way. Golf driver flashed them 3/4 times before they gradually stopped and let us by.

Moved on a small bit, and caught up to an arctic lorry. Behind him for about 30 seconds. You could see a T junction coming up on our left, and out flies a 5 series and an altezza from the side road onto the main bypass. Didn't even look, slid right out, and faced towards us (on their own side of the road) and did a few fish tale thingys. They missed the lorry infront of us by about 5 seconds, and of course we all had to stop incase some other clown decided to slide out of the junction (which is sort of blind). What retards out endangering lives like that. There was so much smoke I couldn't see any regs, the smell of rubber was rotten, and there was sparks flying from one of the rear tyres of the 5er. That whole shenanigans has me rightly pissed off, not on a busy main public road. Controlled environments if that is what you're into.

    Rant over!

I absolutely despise crap like this, it's why the Car Scene in Ireland is so frowned upon. Knobheads.

    https://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/nissan-micra-price-drop/10162686

hi guys, I'm looking at getting a car after not driving for 8 years. So I'm really starting new. Wanted to get a micra as there cheap enough and easy to insure.
I'm looking at the one above,it's in Louth so looking for some advice so its not a wasted journey.
Few things I'm concerned about are the headlights are different colours and to my eye some of the panels look different shades, also he dropped the price a good bit. He said its one owner but i looked up car ireland and it said 3?
    Appreciate any advice

Your right different headlight bumper looks a different shade to the wing although could be the light. At the same time number plates match front and back and look original so it couldn't have been seriously hit on the front or end but maybe it was hit in the corner. No mileage lied about the owners I think it's a bit too dodgy overall to be worth viewing looks clean inside but just looks like it's hiding something.

I get 3 owners too. Is he saying he's the owner?
The passenger side headlamp is off an 03-04 micra.
I note the seller hasn't mentioned mileage in the ad.

To be honest I wouldn't bother, there's enough alarm bells ringing

If you google the sellers phone number you get this
    http://vagdrivers.net/forums/lofiversion/index.php?t68860.html
First offer takes it need it gone asap..Vw bora 1.8 turbo 150bhp . the car is 1.4 on the logbook so cheap tax and insurance
Tells you the sort of person you're dealing with.

Ok, so that's definitely a no go. I had a feeling. He said an old man owned it and he was just selling it, also he said the milage is 140,000. But it was well looked after and serviced. Back to looking so.
Some of the asking prices on donedeal for micras are crazy. I hate the grey interior on the 03-05 micras but I don't think I'll get a decent 06 with my budget €2500 max.
I was also looking at citroen c3 or c4, any feelings on them, good or bad?

The C4 would be a much riskier purchase than a micra. €2500, should get you into a good K12 Micra. There were a few interior choices on the 03 to 05 shape ones, depending on spec. A lot had that drab grey but there was also a cream colour, a lighter grey and a half leather. They were't all that bad.

Complete mental stuff. Swinging about all over the place, in around each other, how they didn't hit each other I don't know. The fact that there was loads of sparks coming from a rear tyre didn't even bother him....

So I got my exhaust fixed. Front pipe from the manifold to the cat had split in half. A combination of rust and making a gtv fly!

    Now it's too quiet :(
but I'm not going deaf anymore
