Today the plan called for a 4/7 miles easy double.

Got out early this morning on a local route and got 6 miles nice easy done.

Headed over to the pitches in Dangan to get the 7 easy done after work, after the first easy mile I met up with a lad I know and he was doing a few tempo miles as part of his training for DCM.

Ended up doing 3 miles at marathon pace off a mile recovery.

    13 miles for the day.

Another decent start to the week and hopefully I can keep it up.

Have steady miles and a S&C session planned for tomorrow.

I'm noticing a distinct pattern to your posts TbL.

Plan today called for a 5/8 double......

Meeting was delayed in the morning so I ran 10 miles on the treadmill in the hotel. Then the energy was low in the meeting so I decided to give my talk while doing laps of the boardroom table to liven things up. Another 4 miles there. Or something along those lines....

Have you ever actually completed your daily mileage in the manner layed out? :)

    Haha KU,

I'm really struggling on this training cycle to get any consistency going.

Haven't had many decent mileage weeks either, and these used to be the mainstay of my program. Work is playing havoc with my routine at the moment and I'm literally on 24 hour standby to travel, it's a real pain in the hole!

So every opportunity that presents itself at the moment I'm taking it coz the next day/week could go completely pear shaped.

It should also be Bourne in mind that a man of my vintage mightn't have many cycles left :) This sub 3 trick is my Moby Dick!

Anyway my coach/psychologist Ecoli keeps me on the straight and narrow!

Hope you enjoyed Iceland, it's a really cool place, if a tad expensive.

Today the plan called for 10 miles steady 7.40-7.50 pace range.

I didn't fancy doing this around laps of the Dangan pitches so I got up early and parked up on Seanadh Pheistin. Picked a nice hilly out and back section for this.

Beautiful morning for it, cool and dry and I had a new pair of runners to break in.

Forgotten how tough the hills can make a run and I should do more of this as it's probably great for strength building.

Finished up with 10 miles @ 7.24 average.

    Splits:

    7.52
    7.29
    7.15
    7.51
    7.39
    7.14
    6.51
    7.23
    7.39
    6.55

    Stop stirring it P,

Already got a polite telling off this morning for the MPM in yesterday's run. :)

Today was a lot harder, pace management wise, as I haven't been up and down hills like that for a few weeks. I also feel like I'm playing catch up on this cycle, compared to where I was at the same stage on the last two.

Was told to keep the easy days very easy as the sessions will be hard enough.

Today the plan called for 6 miles easy.

Had a early morning start as I'd to be in Dublin, for a meeting with the London Masters of the Universe!

Had a nice lunch overlooking the bay in Acqua restaurant in Howth and got out of Dublin about 3pm.

Had organised another date with Tang (this is becoming a bit frequent and to keep things fresh B you'll have to start wearing a costume or something :)) and we agreed to meet up again at Moyvalley hotel and do a few easy miles.

Was very stiff and tired starting off. I had an hour of S&C last night and it's been 6 weeks since I was there last and I really felt it today.

I thought the plan had me down for 8 easy miles and we headed off nice and handy doing loops of the hotel. It's amazing the difference having company on these runs make and the miles flew by. In future when I'm running with Tang I'll have to invest in a rubber (raincoat) for protection. Jasus does that man sweat, he looked like he'd been doused by a fire hose when we'd finished!

Ended up getting 9 miles easy done.

Plan today called for 7 miles easy.

Got 6 tired miles in this morning and had planned on 4 more recovery miles this evening but decided against it as I'm a bit jaded and I might have to do my long run tomorrow to accommodate some family commitments.

Might try tucking my shirt into my shorts to see if I go any faster ;)

Plan today was for 4/7 miles easy and tomorrow was the long run but due to family stuff I had to get the longer run done today. It was to be 2 miles easy, 4,3,2,1 miles @ MP (6.55-7.10) off 1 mile easy recovery, with 2 miles easy.

The missus dropped me at Standuns in Spiddal and I did the 2 miles "easy" but I was blowing a bit. Lovely warm dry morning for it with hardly any wind and I started into the faster stuff. Once I got into a rhythm it felt ok but the last mile of the 2 mile section and the last mile itself had me very tired.

Finished up with 5 miles easy run to bring the total to 20 miles (first 20 miler since March!)

It's a pity I didn't get more consistency on this cycle and if there were a couple of additional weeks in this cycle I'd be confident of going close to sub 3.

    MP miles

    6.52, 6.58, 6.39, 6.48

    6.49, 6.39, 6.48

    6.46, 6.50

    6.35

Jesus I'd hate to be your coach. Instructions MP (6:55-7:10) you go out and run all par one mile faster.

    Nice going all the same.

very nice run there C - even if you did overshoot all the splits!

Given that I'd done today's long run yesterday, today was to be 4/7 miles easy.

Did a a small local 5k with my daughter this morning. Wasn't many doing it but she ran the whole way and she overtook an auld wan that had passed us earlier to be the first "woman" home :) I ran the loop again to bring the total weeks miles to 77, wanted to run it again to get to 80 but the missus wanted me home to do a BBQ.

All afternoon I was thinking about getting a 3 miler in to round off the week but was determined not to get too OCD. Sat out on a lounger in beautiful sunshine for the afternoon and then watched the rugby with the young lad.

With about 10 mins to go he asked "how many minutes in a rugby match, Dad?", "eighty", says I. "What"? "80", "eighty", ah feck this, I got me gear on, headed out the door and got the 3 miles done.

    Solid week, "eighty, 80" miles.

Off to London tomorrow so it'll be a step back week mileage wise.

you were dead right to go out and make it 80, a nice round even (crazy) number of miles for a week.

Plan today called for 5 miles easy.

As I was heading to London today I got up early this morning to get this one done.

Managed to get 6 miles easy done just as the sun was coming up.

As it looks like I'll get no running done tomorrow I decided to get another few miles done on the hotel treadmill. Managed to get 6.6k done.

Any running I manage over the next couple of days will be on the treadmill, I hate the feckin thing takes all of the joy out of running, think I'd prefer to be massaging Tangs sore foot :)

    Total miles today 10.

Plan called for more easy miles. Was unsure whether I'd get any miles done at all. Things mental at work, have to stay here now till Thursday at least and was told I need to be back here again next week. This disruption couldn't be coming at a worse time in my training cycle.

Anyway just managed to squeeze in 8.2k on the hotel treadmill before the gym closed.

    Not a happy camper!

Not really Double D, narrow uneven unlit surface on a very busy road. Also working long hours so no opportunity to even get out in daylight. Have to muster up the mojo to run 8-10 miles easy on feckin dreadmil tomorrow. Hoping to get back to Dublin late Thursday night so I can try and get the steady run done on a decent lit route!

Tnx Murph, frustrating as feck, especially as things were starting to knit together and I was hoping to build on that. I also feel like I'm getting all sorts of niggles from running on the treadmill

You'll get to start line for this one unlike Boston, you may not have the quality of work done as in previous cycles but you still have some decent runs under your belt which will stand to you. It's 5 weeks out and still time to get some quality miles in. Plus your a stubborn auld bo!!ix who doesn't give in and that always helps to. My foot hurts.......

Today plan called for 7 miles easy.

Back on the dreadmil for this, listened to Fatboy Slim, "you've come a long way baby" album to help with the boredom and also watched some Boxing Gold on the treadmill screen to help pass the time.

Gonna leak some miles in the next day or two so I ended up doing 16.3k tonight.

Boring but handy enough, heart rate more elevated reading Firedances log :)

Today the plan called for 2 mile warm up, 8 miles alternating (6.50-6.55 /7.15-7.20), 2 miles cooldown. I was expecting to be home in the bog and have this done by early evening but this morning I was told that I'd to stay till tomorrow. To say I was pissed off is an understatement.

Had no clean running gear and another long day meant I ended up getting only 5 easy miles done in stinking gear on the treadmill.

I'm back in this kip all next week and I'm now wondering if I should focus on Seville in February as I've very little quality done and next week will be more sloppy treadmill miles. Also had to cancel my massage tomorrow which was badly needed as the foot is starting to complain.

    Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!
