1st place in the 5k plus 400m, it was a good training run, if it measured right i'd say i'd have went sub 19. Won't right much more than that really cause no disrespect there was zero competition there, next finisher was over 2 mins behind me. If it was competitive i'd have been nowhere. I'm happy with the effort though, pushed myself even though I ran solo.

O Lord it's so hard to be humble ... :)

I'd say you got the Tang Tribune to take your photo and you're probably down the pub now regaling the locals with your tales of victory, are you drinking porter out of the cup!!!

    Nice time sub 19.

No, went to see me Mam in hospital in Galway and told her that I won. She gave me a big kiss and said well done. Poor woman hasn't a clue about running though!! Locals only like the stories of me slaying the Lemon. Luckily i'm good at that!!!

Congrats on the win tang! You can only race who-ever turns up, it's all yours, well done!

Just catching up here now. Reads like good news all around.

Well done on the win, B. Not easy to drive on when there is no one pushing you.

Best wishes to Ma Tang. Hope she recovers quickly.

    Sunday 4.10.15

Was marshaling at the Athlone 3/4 early part of the morning, great event and Boards was out in force. Traveled back home in the afternoon, sat down and looked at the rugby, got lazy and did nothing.

    Monday 5.10.15

Wasn't the greatest day head wise so got nothing done.

    Tuesday 6.10.15

    6.05miles@8.20min/miles in 50mins 26secs

Short window to get this done, the pace was bit fast for an easy run. Legs felt good and the miles flew by.

    Wednesday 7.10.15

    8miles@8.45min/miles in 69mins 58secs(including 6x800m off 2mins recovery)

Out early to do this and hit the track, when i say track its a 1.25 lap of Moyvalley Hotel that the club uses for sessions. Its marked out correctly at 200,400,600,800, 1K, 1mile and 2K for sessions and the surface is tar and as smooth as you'll get. Done 2 mile warm up and started into the 800's, goal being between 2.58-3.05 per McMillan off the Bohermeen 5 mile. Reps were as follows:

    3.02,3.02,3.01,3.02,3.00,3.01.

Very happy with these, the 5th one was tough going for some reason but last one felt effortless. Finished with 2.25 mile cool down.

Every runner has an itch that needs scratching, be it improving times or returning to a particular race to prove a point to yourself. I've had a terrible itch since i started taking running seriously, i have attempted to train for 3 marathons and failed to reach the start line on each occasion. Well i'm hoping to attempt it again by training for Rotterdam next April, i have sought help so hopefully there will be no issues or mistakes this time and i'll get to the start line healthy.

    Thursday 8.10.15

    9miles@8.17min/mile in 74mins 30secs.

Back to Moyvalley late this afternoon to meet TbL for a trot, i wanted to iron out a few things before we head to Rotterdam like separate beds and his sleep walking problem!! The chat was non stop and the miles flew by, TbL can move when he wants, never seen a man run as fast as nature called at one point, luckily we were passing the hotel when it happened. Probably to fast after yesterdays 800's, but legs felt good so i went with what felt natural. Usual sweat soaking when weather is any way mild.

Rest tomorrow, few easy miles Saturday and another 5k on Sunday. Its my local GAA clubs 5k Sunday morning, my wifes nephew plays for them and is handy for a hurler from Meath so i'll show my support for him. Know the route like the back of my hand so know what to expect and the distance is right.

*BOARDS WARNING* *BOARDS WARNING* TbL's new weapon of choice, if your going on a running date with the man do not accept one of these. As it says ' Darkside ' skittles........

    Saturday 10.10.15

    4.60miles@8.32min/miles in 39min 14secs

Few easy miles down in Tang, my mother got home thankfully on Thursday and is doing well. This felt great apart from one thing, can feel the PF developing in the soles of the feet again. Will be rolling the sh!t out of them with the tennis ball for next while.

    Sunday 11.10.15

Nothing, had hoped to run a 5k this morning but the missus got called into work late yesterday evening so no race. Kind of a meh week, only got one session in and an annoying niggle has reared its ugly head. Thankfully its a niggle i know to manage on past experience.

I have a dowel I got off the podiatrist. A stick, basically, about the same bore as a sweeping-brush handle or maybe a little smaller. I have to walk over it, very slowly, lingering on any tender spots. Works a treat.

Sounds sadistic!!! As I said i'm a blouse, the tennis ball is nice, fluffy and soft so suits me.

    Monday 12.10.15

Rest, new week, new training regime, new coach, new training paces. He was kind enough to start me on a rest day.

    Tuesday 13.10.15

    5miles easy @9.29min/mile in 47min 28secs

Found this mentally tough as i have never ran this slow as my easy pace, but enjoyed it the more it went on. Found it very very easy fitness wise. Time is approaching for the base layers to make an appearance.

    Wednesday 14.10.15

    6miles @2E, 2STEADY, 2MP in 52mins 39secs

Enjoyed this, kept the easy miles at the faster end of the new easy pace, the other miles flew by as the pace picked up. Body feeling good, feet still bit tight but nowhere near as bad as they were at the weekend. Still rolling them with the tennis ball.

Was tempted to grab a bag of those the last day, I was in tesco, would find them far too chewy on a run. I haven't even got as far as sneaking in a few jelly baby into my long runs. :pac:

Bit of housekeeping to be done here.

    Friday 16.10.15

    Rest day

    Saturday 17.10.15

    5miles@9.12min/miles in 45min 57secs

Enjoyable run this, found it much less of a struggle than Tuesdays run. Kept it to the quicker side of new easy pace and bounced along. Could feel the cold evenings coming doing it. Feet and body feeling good.

    Sunday 18.10.15

2E, 6MP, 2E was the plan. Followed it more or less to plan which included the Longwood 10k in 52mins 20sec running BESIDE Firedance to a shiny new PB. Now i take no credit for FD's new PB, i kept an eye on the watch and offered encouragement where i felt it was needed. She ran every yard herself and showed great determination and guts to run the race she did. The course was certainly not conducive to PB's and i think that shows there is certainly plenty more to come from Firedance in the 10k department. It was a pleasure to run with you this morning AM, you know where i am if you need a running partner again. Good weeks running with 31 miles in the bank. Looking forward to see what next week has in store.

well I'm giving you credit for my pb :) you did more than run beside me and that's two successful pacing jobs under your belt now :p.

thanks again and best of luck with the marathon training, you will make the start line this time without any doubt.
