Do you have a little furry friend who brings you happiness to your life? I've been thinking of getting a pet lately and was wondering how AHers were experiencing their own pets.

I have a cat. They're the business, extremely low maintenance and very entertaining.

I have a cat, and he is my favourite ''person'' in the whole world. He's very funny, entertaining, loving and extremely affectionate. He is also low maintenance, walks himself and will sleep the day away if I go out. He has actually changed the opinions of a lot of people who were previously not very fond of cats, because he is so good natured. When I come home after a stressful day or if I'm not feeling well, and he's there to greet me, or we curl up in bed together for a nap, with him snuggled between my feet, I just feel completely at peace, in a way that only he can make me feel.

A Doberman and a terrier cross, love and hate them in equal measure but wouldn't be without them

Yes I have one of those.

I have a dog, and he is my favourite creature in the world. I love him to bits and dread the day when he will have to go to doggy heaven. He's a great companion and it's great to come home from work and there he is barking and jumping at the door excited to see me.
He's easy going, sometimes he'll sleep downstairs, othertimes he will come up stairs and sleep in his 'upstairs' basket, other times he'll look to get up on the bed and snuggle down at the end of it. The only down side of holidays is that I can't bring him with me but luckily I have a great friend who looks after him while I am away and he gets to mix with her doggies.
    I wouldn't be without a dog now.

Two indoor cats and two outdoor cats- Kovu, Squeak, Smudge and Wailey Cat. The two outdoor cats were acquired after they turned up as strays. Kovu is my adorable dope, he kips on my bed when I'm home. He also comes for walks, I don't think he realises he's a cat.

2 cats, have them both nearly 8 years now. Got me through some tough years (depressed, etc), great to have around.

Hate cats. They only pay attention to you when they want, the rest of the time they ignore you.

Dogs adore you 100%, which is quite flattering

I love dogs, but I'd never let one on my bed, let alone sleep on it! Yuch.

Have one cat, used to be two but poor Charlie past away last year. Fantastic company, nothing like a happy cat sitting on your lap :)

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Have a nice border collie dog, had four but three were stolen and that was depressing...
Two cats that came as strays and they hate each other. They aren't very friendly, but are good at begging for food. They get cat food and milk everyday. The milk comes from the washing out of the milking machine after milking. They share it with the dog.
I would count some of my dairy cows and heifers as pets, whom my dog helps bring in at milking time. The quiet cows and heifers like petting and some will come looking for attention, and are worse than dogs for licking.
Had a couple of ducks and they were nice as pets, but the fox found them as being nice dinner.

If they don't like you they'll ignore you, it takes time and effort to become close with a cat.

The dog is a pack animal, different mindset altogether.

I have a cat. She is great craic and has such a personality.

I love cats and dogs but dogs love anyone. With cats you have to earn their love!

I grew up with pets, then moved to Ireland and lived without one for some years because I didn't have the money and space and felt like something was missing until I eventually got my first cat ever. They are fantastic companions, even if so many people disagree.

I have a little guy too, and I love him to bits. He's sitting by the fire right now on his doggy bed. But no way would I let him n the bed. It's unhygienic, in my view.

    To each its own

I have news for you. She doesn't love you...if you stopped feeding her and someone else did, she'd drop you like that (clicking fingers)

I thought that too, but she had to live with a family member for a good while when I moved to a new place and she would still run to me when she saw me/ heard my voice.

I got a cat a couple of weeks ago. I never had pets growing up so this is a new experience.
At the moment he is sitting on my lap, he'll sit there until I move.
He likes to sit on my shoulder, he thinks that sometimes I am a pirate and he a parrot.
When I lie down, he will climb up onto my chest and put his nose about 1 inch from mine and go asleep.
He woke me up about 3 times last night just staring at me.
He's a little bollox. But he is adorable. I just wish he would annoy someone else in my family for a while.

Rubbish. You're doing a fairly good job of creating a poisonous atmosphere in a potentially good-natured thread though. Well done.

Have three dogs, Zippy, Louis and Bruce. They are the light of my life and my best friends. They lift my mood when I'm down and put a smile on my face every single day just watching them do stupid stuff. Dogs are awesome.

I think he's chosen his favourite person, they often do that, get used to it :D

Two dogs, who are my whole entire life.
One is 5 and one is almost 2, and my life is a much happier and brighter place for having them. Everyone should have a pet in their lives :)

I had a dog, who was sadly put down today. She was a wonderful addition to our family - so gentle and happy and five minutes of playing with her would brighten anyone's day. Its brilliant to have someone excited to see you when you get home too! ðŸ˜႒
