First time I watched it this week. I liked it. It had me laughing a good few times.

I would like to know the name of that 1970s tune that formed the RTE Sports theme back in that period and into the early 80s. It is nice that it was resurrected for the opening sequence of the Apres Match programme.

don't smoke in bed have your last one downstairs :D

    wonderfully paddy'ish

(that was an actual ad btw)

Poor auld Brendan O'Reilly, I don't remember him being quite that bad at the presenting.

I liked the Sports Stadium logo peeling off to reveal the Today Tonight graphic behind it!

Must have been before the ad that warned you not to pass out drunk leaving a fag smouldering on the couch.

Next week, God visits or at least his hand does when some Argie cokehead borrows it.

Thought that was class as was Joe Kinnear turning up late and being told the replay machine was on its way back from Santry.

But Night Light and the creepiness of it was the highlight for me. Gary Cooke does a brilliant job of it..

Watching it again, brings me back to what a depressing ****hole Ireland was in the late 70's/early 80's the Angelus, Jaysus. Brendan O'Reilly was hopeless I remember him saying after the 1982 World Cup Final 'thank God that rubbish is over now for Gaelic Stadium'

I used to be scared of that smoking in bed ad.

I thought it was funny when they interrupted the match to show The Angelus, and how the bells started out normal but then started to speed up and they sounded hurried.

Most of those ads (the ones not dubbed) sound like the same 2 blokes sat in a darkened room with a gun to their heads *read it* :D

maradona to maradona to maradona to maradona

some of it is a bit lazy, its all very well doing impersonations they need to put more content into the dialogue as well, like the saint & greavsie sketch which was just wtf?

Loved the rip off of my all time favourite football commentator,Brian Moore, and they got Barry Davies off great as well!

They are repeating Episode 1 now on RTE2 for some reason, if anyone missed it (Ireland v Romania 1990)

Someone must have put the wrong tape in.

It's supposed to set in 1990, but there are people in 1994 jerseys there, such an obvious continuity error.

That Dunphy dub-over job is even funnier second time around.

    Good episode.

I see Monday's episode is repeated tomorrow at 10.30pm (after Ireland v Germany), so maybe this was stuck in as an extra as the first episode wasn't repeated until now.

It's hard work keeping up with the scheduling!

It would have been great to see a "live Bill" sketch tonight Skid!! :)

The Barry Davies impression is brilliant! Risteard Cooper has some range, his Jimmy Hill is pretty good too. God, I remember many of those ads. I'm guessing they take many from throughout the 80's because I can't be that old!

Tonight's match will most definitely be featured on Après Match Of The Day in about 20 years time!!!
