Seen a BMW 630d Gran Coupe today, nice looking car, almost Japanese in its aesthetics.

Good news/bad news with the Gearbox. It was indeed low and leaking, was down 3 litres out of the 9 I think it holds. Since it's been topped up it drives like it did before, whine is gone in 3rd/4th. Oil was black so it will need a rebuild or a new gearbox but now it's not major. Will do an Oil/Filter and get the leaks sorted for €180 next week and then save for an eventual rebuild, price I was quoted for that was €1200 plus €500 for the Torque Converter and that will have a 1 year warranty on it.

Good news/bad news with the Gearbox...

Jolly good. Could be a lot worse. I've pulled my yoke off the road for a couple of days until I get the brakes sorted out and it's pissing me off a little. I feel partially-dressed, relieved of my command, unarmed. Blergh!

It's an absolute pain in the hole especially if trying to read a busy forum. To be honest I've just been avoiding it a lot until they get it sorted.

    €1700? Yikes!

Honestly, I don't even think it needs it, it's driving so smooth now with just a top up, she'll be going back in next week for a complete oil/filter change and sort the leak, should make it 1000 times better!

Yeah, i'd be fixing the leak, doing the oil change and hoping for the best, it'd probably be grand. What kind of mileage is on it FN?

Sure for 1700 you'd buy a whole other e39 to harvest for parts, pay someone to swap the box over and still probably have change.

I plugged the replacement speaker into the other door and it also doesn't work. Same with the old broken speaker so the wiring is fine.

I also checked the wiring with the multimeter before getting a replacement :pac:

Keep an eye on the fluid, it should stay nice and pink-and-rosy for a long while, as in years. If so, peachy!

I'll be doing the oil/filter/leaks next week, will leave it at that unless I feel/hear it going again. I'll probably rebuild it though as I don't plan on getting rid of this car and it'd come with a warranty too, I'd feel more confident with that than a potentially dodgy secondhand box.

Edit* There's 136,000 Miles on it now.

If that's the case then I wouldn't be doing a thing until it ****s itself.

Pretty much the plan! Happy out! Now to do the Engine, replace the rear cluster, fix the damaged bodywork and get myself a speed sensor :pac:

And the UK road trip to the RWC has begun :D Just left the house. The brother is driving over and I'm driving home. Nothing worse than arsing around the house all day waiting to go.

Brought that bad speaker back to Parts4U. I wasn't particularly impressed with the service. I told them I tested it in place of a good speaker and it also didn't work. They said they will test it on a bench. 10 minutes later the guy was back with a speaker from the Titanium/Ghia which is a better speaker but the middle part was bent inwards.

So I ended up asking him to get me a speaker from the other side of the Focus. The guy huffed and puffed about having to drill out another one and then eventually went and did it.

Put in the speaker, working great :)

I think next time I will stick with Kilcock Car Dismantlers. They are further away but at least you can go in and get the bits out yourself and you can choose what you want :)
