I have the following wedge setup

    47 degree PW
51 degree (8 degree bounce) wedge
55 degree (8 degree bounce) wedge
60 degree (4 degree bounce) wedge

I carry the lob wedge for shots where I prefer a low bounce and not to fill a distance gap. Mostly shots from wet compacted bunkers but I find I take it out to chip on links courses when I have a tight lie.

I would never think I'm 70 yards out and hit the lob wedge; I'd just hit a half swing controlled 55. It's the easier shot option and ultimately a better trajectory.

I've a 64 degree wedge! Hated it for a long time, but I started practicing with it recently and I'm slowly falling in love :)

Also have a 64 nicknamed Phil! Use it for anything inside 30 yards and particularly with a bunker or other obstacle between me and the green. Also use it in the bunker which is great for popping it up. However, the biggest issue is committing to the shot (i'm a 17 handicapper) and sometimes end up in the hazard I'm trying to avoid :D:D

Also use a trusty rusty which is 55 degrees and a regular PW

I'm in the happy position of having quite a bit of ground to practice on. I have enough area to use anything up to a 7 iron, but I generally just grab one of my wedges and spend an hour or two practising different shots and shot lengths with it of an evening.

Gives you a lot of confidence when you go out on the course.

If there's a bit of time following a round, I also practice around the 18th green to give a 'real world' feel to what I'm doing.

Practising on the 18th Green is frowned on in most clubs especially if the club house is in view!

I found this out the hard way.

I'm going to get myself a 90 degree one next week ;)

Aye, if I give it a good slap I can almost kick it on the way down.

I always open/close my 56° sand wedge to get the flight I want. I picked up a couple of Cleveland 60° wedges to try before I found one I liked and it had only a little bounce. After a bit of practice I became reasonable with it. However I found it really did nothing I could not do with my sand... except maybe getting out of "bad" or heavily wet bunkers... ie because it had little bounce. Anyhow, my 60° wedges are back in storage.

Whats all this wedges love in crap. i have 2 and one is for bunkers, de loft the other or swing softer as required for aerial shots, 7 or 8 iron for chipping around the green get the ball on the deck running at the hole.

I normally just used a 52 and a 56 but this year the rough was extra long and sticky so I got my hands on an m10 mizuno 60 deg. It's now become my favourite. Great from long rough round the green. Difficult to use in the wet.
The gapping is strange my PW is 47 my gap is 52 and sw 56 lob 60.
As an investment I bought a used loft lie machine now my 52 is 50 degrees and goes 103m (handy tool)

I use a 64 degree wedge and i love it. Im not a low handicapper but the wedge has got me out of some tricky situations around greens. Full swing and it goes so high. Fairly useful tool imo
