Wanker watch: Warning signs that someone is a tosser

Going back to McGregor. People who constantly complain about 'bandwagoners' who only started watching UFC cause of Mcgregor. I have been watching UFC for years, but so what if people only started watching UFC because of McGregor? Everyone starts watching the sport at some point!

Someone who starts watching MMA because of McGregor is fine. I started playing football because of Packie Bonner. I started watching MMA because of Chuck Liddell. People who start watching a sport because of whatever are NOT bandwagoners.

Girls who go around in hordes wearing tricolour face paint and Ireland shirts during the world cup, even though they don't like football, are bandwagoners.

Lads who don't watch, follow or give a pish about MMA but use McGregor as an excuse to organise a Vegas booze up then don't even bother to go to most of the fights are bandwagoners.

I know for a fact that there were people there who travelled from Ireland who had never been to nor seen an MMA fight in their lives and probably won't ever again. I know this because I had to listen to their shoite in my ear after they turned up midway through the co-main event. Jumping around high fiving each other after McGregor won despite the fact that they had no idea what they had just seen.

If McGregor had been competing for the interim world tiddlywinks championship they'd probably have been there too downing beer and chanting "you'll never beat the Irish".

And that is what I class as the difference between a new fan and a bandwagoner.

    New fans are not ****.
    Bandwagoners are ****.

(I could say "simples" at this point except someone would then point out that people who say "simples" because of the meerkat ads are **** and I'd probably agree).

Men wearing shirts with buttons open to nearly the navel, reminiscent of plunging necklines of female evening or cocktail dresses.

Yeah, Harry Styles, doing that totally makes you the new Mick Jagger or Jim Morrison. So edgy.

Cutting your poxy grass at 9am on a saturday morning

Someone near me decided to cut their grass at 8am on a weekday a few weeks back.

Fair enough it rains so much that you have to take what chance you get but have some consideration.

Do you mean in terms of justifying the purchase? I don't tend to drink unless I'm going to get smashed and hit the clubs but I always justify buying clothes, games etc. by saying I could be the type of person whose at the pub necking back pints every weekend.

Me too. If I'm humming and hawing over a not massively expensive item, I remind myself of the madness of handing over €5 or more for a pint, which I do without blinking.

Anyone who clicked on to that Independent facebook article about the 'wags of the Irish rugby team' with genuine enthusiasm.

Lads who refer to the 'talent' at the club, in college, bar etc. Using 'talent' to describe a hot girl.

A helpful precaution if visiting up there. I've a set for my van that I stick on when I'm crossing the border.

Why??? Are you one of those people that actually thinks that because you have a yellow rear plate the people of NI will show you more respect on the road as they are so stupid they think a 05-DL or whatever reg plate you have, is a NI one purely because it's yellow? Don't be so bloody ridiculous.

People who put yellow plates on their cars/vans so that when they're travelling through Northern Ireland, the local NI people and/or Police will think it's a Northern vehicle and treat the driver as one of their own...are ****.

People who equate degrees with intellect. Unless you hold a qualification in one of a very small number of fields (medicine, sciences, law, IT, architecture, engineering, accounting and maybe one or two others) you likely hold a degree allowing you to work in a field that 35 years ago involved on the job training that lasted a couple of days or weeks at most. I have always found that most people with an irrelevant degree tend to have a lesser understanding/ interest in politics, history, current affairs and so on than a great deal of people with minimal qualifications.

I pulled into the overtaking lane on the motorway to overtake one car quickly and I was doing 120 (maybe a little more) and this giant BMW was flying down the lane behind me flashing his lights for me to get out. They think they own the road and everyone should be moving out of their way. I was in the lane for no more than a minute but they're actually intimidating. Such tossers.
