What is non standard audio equipment? Ultra low frequency brownpants death rays? Noise cannon in case of somali pirates?

You'll be saying cheap coil overs or an eBay mach3 spoiler are not mods next if we are judging items by price, or that some other cars come with similar equipment as standard.

When is a vtec not a vtec?

I am sure that my €75 radio is as standard as it can be.

Now, if I had large screen with DVD and sub in the back I "could" consider it non standard.

Regular sized radio, with no modification made to the existing wiring is as standard as it gets.

Otherwise we would not be allowed to get any quotes online because that is one of the assumptions.

Non factory fitted and non standard are two different things in my books.

Maybe I am uninsured now, who knows.

I would say technically the majority of motorists are, from any of us that change our tyres, wipers, bulbs to those 40 year old women unknowingly driving imported Micras.

Oh my god, insurance has completely taken over this entire forum!

I get my premium, whinge for about a day, and then get on with it. Can't stand these constant threads about insurance issues!

Agreed. I will shut up now.

I can understand it, if everyone's insurance goes up by quite a fair whack, we should ask why and what's being done about it. The answer may well be "because ladybirds" and "fcuk all by everyone", but we can't just all shrug our shoulders at 30+% increases and say "ah well, what's on telly".
In this country you have to on constant alert, because all everyone is thinking is "how can I screw people for more money".

Ya I get that, but we don't need thread after thread after thread on the same issue, where people go around in circles, and debate the same thing again and again.

Moaning about it here isn't going to make premiums go down! People need to take it further to whoever the relevant authorities are.

    The threads are annoying.

But yoh know what my favourite cars are? Ones that are Japanese and 15 years old or older. Now I can't have them anymore. That's annoying.

My policy increasing by 25% this year and next is also annoying.

It's almost some sort of privatised communism. It's a free state and I can do what I want. I can drive whatever car I want... as long as

    It isn't from the UK
    it isn't from Japan
It isn't over ten years old
it hasn't had its original stereo replaced
it hasn't got aftermarket valve caps
    It isn't over 1400cc

And when I do find that perfect 1.4 diesel baseline golf, they will tell me that engines over 1000cc or 50bhp are considered performance and because i'm not a 45 year old female accountant from Wexford, it's going to cost me €1500 p/a to insure it.

I know I said I will shut up, but...

We were not even discussing insurance at all, just this little car audio assumption that is written in every car policy.

When I was switching the policy from one car to another I had to stop at some point when they asked me if the car was import.

How the **** am I supposed to know if the car was imported from the UK 14 years ago, or originally sold in Ireland:confused:

Print it on VLC, or leave me alone!

I rang them back and said that looking at the first registration date and other details in the paperwork (that is still in the car) I believe it is not an import).

Was very, very close to tell them that, despite being a german car, I believe it was built in Dublin in 2001.

Never been on a boat, never ever:D

The one that annoys me is the car phone.
I have a phone holder and a bluetooth headset. Would that be one a' dem non-original ceaaar phones? Is my car now modified? Maybe not even covered anymore?

Well since it wasn't factory fitted - apparently yes, you're not covered.

Even sitting in the car modifies the car since you weren't factory fitted in the driver's seat!

    Now, this is annoying:mad:

I would put my hands up if it was me causing the damage, but I can't remember any tight, or even close to tight, parking spots or anything really until I saw this today:eek:

You might remember my old car was keyed before, too.

I can only imagine what people having nice and expensive cars are going through every day:

Someone probably grazed passed you at some stage so.

I am just trying to figure out what could cause it.

I am thinking of one trying to park in front of me, turning left and misjudging the distance.

That would be the side nearer the road so you never know.

That green paint is very green. Bin collection was on last night / morning, but there was another car parked in front of it at that time.

    Can't figure it out tbh.

Ahhh the rugby world cup. Good to see you again you sexy bastard! :P Hitting the road for Exeter 2 weeks from Monday and on to Cardiff for the France match. The road trip itself has me excited. Driving around the English/Welsh countryside is heaven! The rugby should be good too :pac:

A bit off topic here but...

Switched to PAYG after my contract ended and got 5GB data + free Vodafone calls & texts + €13. I got a confirmation text and online it says that this is activated too. Used only about 300MB and my balance is €0.00, can't use internet, call or text anyone. Was supposed to meet someone tonight but can't contact them. Can't even call their customer support because "I don't have enough credit."

    F**king great...

^can you send a call me text?? Or web text

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,113 ✭✭✭Gavman84

Did you top up by enough for the offer? I need to put 30 in like every month to keep it going for unlimited everything with meteor. And it takes all the credit. Do they gave online help chat to check with?

I had more than I needed, I called them to activate it and they took €10 off. This was only 3 days ago. There's no way I could've used it all so quick. Can't find any online help on their website. :/

GvidoR you have the wrong APN settings, happened me before years ago.

Also I rang them years ago as well and they told me I was using the wrong settings that's why it used my credit and they refunded me the credit but they said they will never do that agin for me. So get onto them and they may refund the credit.

I got that done about 3 hours ago over their live chat and they told me the same thing but I have a Vodafone brand phone and my APN settings should have been fine and they were. Would using the phone as hotspot make a difference? I don't think it should. I also got €10 credit which is very close to what I had so I'm okay with that. Anyway, after I use up all the credit I will be switching to a different network, I already got the phone unlocked.

This is why I'm on 3's PAYG, €20 for unlimited data. I used 50GB one month and they didn't bat an eye.

That plan is the business except for non-free weekday calls :pac:

I never really make calls tbh, always through FB Messenger or Text, suits me down to the ground.

Similar enough to me but I ran out of credit while calling insurance companies for quotes.

Them bundles are so handy and save you a fortune! I'm with meteor. Top up by 30 euro and I get unlimited calls to any network (excluding 1800 no's etc or calls abroad), unlimited texts to any network and unlimited data. Well worth it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,677 ✭✭✭frozenfrozen

if you use parkbytext parking you could use the three credit to pay for that since it leaves your credit and gives you the free stuff for 30 days.

when you top up by 20 they give you an extra 10 euro bonus credit too so it's actually cheaper to do parkbytext through three than normally paying for it :D.

Don't they say the data limit is 7GB with Meteor though?

I tether my 3 data to my laptop sometimes so I would use A LOT more. Also when you pay the €20 on 3 you keep the credits for calls :)

That's who I am switching to in about 2-3 weeks.

I've been stuck on €35/m 100 minutes + 1 GB data contract with Vodafone for 24 months. It finally ended Monday this week so now I switched to PAYG, will use up all the credit they gave me and switch to Three.

I was looking to see if they had a limit, but I couldn't find it. Where abouts did you find that?
