Maybe training, maybe supporting some real world operation.
Several E-6 are flying at any given time: some of them are involved in training activities, whereas others may be supporting actual operations, hence it would be extremely difficult to guess something big is about to happen in Syria, unless one or two start circiling over the UK or elsewhere, as a Mercury did while the Navy SEALs killed Bin Laden.

This would be the sign they are about to relay some important orders to the submarines, warships and bombers in the Mediterranean Sea or surrounding areas.

Edit: Looking at the the fightercontrol forum, this flight was in support of some eastbound B-1 bombers.

FR24 doesn't plot military for obvious reasons - apart from the few that miss their filters.

I wonder, rhetorically, whether Ireland would tolerate a Russian Maxdome orbiting in such a manner.

    If not...

    Cargo plane.
Flys every weekday evening on the SNN-DUB-CGN route. I'm surprised you haven't seen it yet! :)

Now that you say it, it does ring a bell, cheers!

Sounds different from the others too, I've had the window open a few times thinking "what the devil is that" only to discover its the Star Air going overhead.

The E6B presence is intriguing, and if it is up there one wonders what its doing.

Wikipedia says it is a Looking Glass aircraft.

What's wrong with discussing on the forum the possible reasons it's in our airspace. Not as if they are trying to keep it a secret themselves that they are here.
Obviously we'll never know for sure but I don't see the harm in discussing it. Purely because as above, I'm really intrigued.

No problem whatsoever if it is a pre-planned flight that follows correct ICAO and IAA procedures for overflight of military aircraft.

USAF C-32, 150th Special Operations Flight, just over the southeast coast now.

A bit about this plane from The Aviationist blog
This is considered a “black” USAF plane as it is operated by the Department of Homeland Security and US Foreign Emergency Support Team (FEST) and it usually appears in the most unusual locations all around the world. Aircraft spotters have been trying to track its movements and they often report this and few other C-32Bs (B757s) of the Air Force Special Operations Command using bogus serial numbers and always changing Hex codes. Don’t you believe it is somehow weird that such elusive aircraft, deploying US teams in response to terrorist attacks or (as someone speculated) to transport prisoners, was transmitting full ADS-B over the US?

It would be nice if they credited their source!

I like the way they put an image of a totally different aircraft with a totally different military function (Boeing E-3 Sentry) in the article.

And they use a picture of an E-3 when the plane was an E-6.
As for the purpose of the flight, it was to provide communication support to some eastbound B-1's.

Hi there, been watching flight radar for a few years now but only came across this thread now.

Spotted the Breitling Super Constellation plane just now(12.30pm) passing over Luxembourg. Not able to post a picture of it.

Plus the other day saw an B743 just going around and around for a few hours up over the west coast of Scotland. Seems to have come out of Hamburg. Any info??
