Cephaguard was tge name of the stuff. It's cefquinome sulphate. With drawl is 1 day when dry period is 5 weeks or more

When you say dear at eight something a cow what would you expect to pay for cepravin? And how do you find it as a dry cow tube in general?

First year using that one vet said it was best one with shorter withdrawal. Cepravin is 7.20 I think, these are off the vet so may be got cheaper elsewhere. Osmonds do one called ceemast, which is cefalexin and dihydrostreptomycin, has a withdrawal of 40 days +60 hours. Can't find docket for price but worked well enough last year but gave high scc ones a longer dry period which helps too. Have to buy sealer as well wihh all those think I got tube and sealer cheaper off Osmonds.

Ceprvain and cepagaurd have the same drug i think. Have used both here in past on advice of milk culture test with good results. Cepagaurd is handy in that milk can go in to tank after two milking

Two bulk tank samples. Did it through the vet. I think it was 35 a sample last year. It's dear but no point using a drug that the cows maybe resistant too

Osmonds and CAHL both use to do it here for 25euros a sample.

Nah 2 but it's on a usb and I lost it. Was an old version. One I have now is alot better I'd say.

Atm any way I know we can't afford to slap in 140 kennel type cubicles on a fresh site like I was thinking. We'll be making use of the sheds here and putting them all in ourselves. I'll get a few advisors I know to look over it too and tell me if im on the right/wrong track

What kind of money are milking cows making.

There seems to be a good few on done deal lately.

The ladies here had a meeting this evening and decided they wanted a bale of silage when I went to shut them in after milking despite only after been let into a fresh 12 hour block a hour previously, grass dry matters must be on the floor when they started at that craic, they got a bale Thurs evening before milking just to buffer them on the really wet day.....
The minute they heard the tractor coming up the roadway into the paddock they came running bawling their heads off

Cows here were in a bit of a mood aswell. Suppose its from now of the the few bales and the few nuts will make the difference.

No doubt the grass heads will say 12 hour blocks / force them to clean it and dont feed silage as it will depress protien.

Would tetany be a big risk for dairy cows that are on grass only in this weather?

Got the results for the day the silage went in protein went up and bf with yield up half a litre, cows still doing 1.8 kgs of ms here on 3 kg of meal with half the herd heifers, want to keep them motoring so silage will go in on the wet days to keep dm intakes up

No milk price worries on here so.
Cows on after grass and definitely up a litre on it. 2000 cover in 36 hr breaks. There happy enough

Put in whole crop I had extra in a pit Friday. Dropped nuts by a kg and put in 10 kg of whole crop per cow. Cows are holding well at 23l.

No doubt about it grass dm and quality is dropping last few days ,cows everywhere seem to be slipping unless action is been taken to keep dm intakes up .not getting real bad here yet ,still on 36/48!hour blocks and just over 3 kg meal ,back about half a litre this week but not too worried .1.9 kg solids been pumped out.hate to see the day silage goes in as cows loose edge to clean out paddocks .if and when it goes in it will no question but not for a while yet hooefully

Yea it feeding silage definitely effects clean out but I'm in winter milk so hopefully won't have cows in until December. I'll buffer them until then and gradually increase silage. Any bit of grass in the diet will negate the need for soya in their diet. Hope to only have them on a 21% protein meal for 2-3 months

Serious rain alrite. Today hopefully last of it. Our "river" burst it's banks for first time this year also. Typical loader here out of action when bales need to be fed out
