Striploin steaks from the meat counter in Tesco tonight. Irish Angus. I used to think these were the bee's until we started getting the Aldi Striploins. Dear God there is no comparison. The Tesco ones are just meh now! So much so I don't feel we had our "steak night" yet this and will rectify tomorrow night!

I live in Kildare. I've engineered a reason to visit Dublin tomorrow just for those doughnuts. Where is the shop please?

54 Abbey Street Middle (It's across the road from the exit of Arnotts Car Park) and 147 Parnell Street. Both the name and address.

I also have a two week old coriander plant wilting horribly inside on the kitchen windowsill

Coriander doesn't regrow after it's been cut, unlike most other herbs so it never lasts long at all. I used to a grow a massive terracotta pot of it from seed every year because we go through tonnes of it.

You won't regret it! I couldn't sound more like a shill for them but such amazing doughnuts.

Does anyone have any tried and tested Beef Casserole recipes? its on special offer in Supervalue at the moment so thought I might buy some. I did try the Guinness one a little while back but not too keen on it.

I just googled that and now have the heebie jeebies. The holes! No no no no no. What an offputting appearance!

...really? Wow. You don't know what you're missing flavour-wise, but if you don't like holes in your pasta, I guess that's that. :)

I actually don't eat pasta (dislike the texture) but showed the pic to my sister, mother and fiancé and they all had strong reactions against the appearance. My sis, mother and I all have trypophobia to a small degree so that explains us, but my fiancé's response surprised me. He said it looked like some kind of dodgy fungus. I suppose you could use a different pasta shape though! My sis and fiancé both happily eat holey pasta, it's more to do with how it's arranged in that dish.

Yeah, I have to say that the appearance of it doesn't appeal to me either.

More batch cooking today; we boiled 1kg smoked ham fillet this morning with cloves, bay leaves and peppercorns in the water. In another pot, we sauteed loads of onion, garlic and diced sweet potato until tender. Once cooked, the ham got shredded and added to the veg along with 3 tins drained butter beans and a load of chicken stock. This will get divvied up when it's cooled down and put into the freezer for midweek dinners.

Potluck dinner at my friend's house on Friday. Gonna bring the cooking club almond and berry cake and a caprese salad I think.

    God I love caprese salad.

Very interested in this. Sounds really nice but I'm having a hard time picturing it served - is it soupy?

I should not have googled tryptophobia. (Fear of stuff with small holes, to save anybody else the same fate).
Not sure I'm scared of it but the pictures have made me oddly nauseous.

Yeah, okay, I thought you were all over-reacting but holy jesus, that's disgusting!

To save anyone else the same fate - there's lots of gross pictures of body parts and stuff. It's not just lots of pictures of pasta and swiss cheese, like I expected. puking00.gif

I can't say it bothers me at all, but just to reiterate for anyone; those photos, you know the ones I mean, are photoshopped.

To what purpose though? I'm guessing it's to deliberately freak out people with the phobia, which is a bit mean to say the least. As others have said, even I, who doesn't have it, find some of them a little disturbing.

I didn't realise at first that they were photoshopped, and found them very disturbing. God help anyone suffering with the phobia who comes across them!

Don't care, I'm still having shivers here just thinking about them. Maybe that phobia is more common than people think.....

I think it started out as a trick. A photo of a breast was floating around with the lotus pod thing on it pretending to be a new parasite or disease or some such. Then loads of people were disturbed by it and the trend started.

Not soupy, we didn't add a huge amount of stock so it's wet but not soupy (if that makes sense). We're going to have it for dinner tomorrow so I'll snap a pic for you and put it up here.
