How convenient, the child father survived.

Wow, give that man father of the year.

If my child was drowning in the water I would do everything I could to save them or die trying.

And apparently if it was someone else's child drowning, particularly a foreign child, you'd hardly throw them a lifebuoy.

After all, that's an Irish lifebuoy, paid for by Irish taxes, Irish resources,so it shouldn't be wasted on some foreigner.

But we dont want to culturally intergrate,

    Why should we?

You want to allow animals to die suffering in Pain because some backward refugee allows religion to dictate how they can eat meat?

Our country is moving forward, accepting backwards people who demand women be stoned or homosexuals be hung is not the way to go.

    Speak for yourself.

Not all Muslims are that radical and you know it really.

Look I'm not continue to continue arguing with you because between the conspiracy theories, the hysterical oh woe is us rubbish and the not so thinly veiled racism I can see I'll get nowhere.

    That photo was staged.

Do you have evidence of that?

I'm am not so naive as to believe everything, but a lot of reputable news outlets are running with it as genuine.

I actually said, if it were my child I would die trying to save my child.

And as a parent I wouldn't have risked my child's life leaving a safe sanctuary to foolishly think I could I could peddle from the Med to Canada.

We need to develop a system where asylum seekers are detained in reception centres so they can not just "vanish" and decisions are made within 6 months and those decisions must be final with no further appeal and lead to deportation!

Ireland has about 1200 in direct provision but there are thousands more who are living in rented accommodation and have been given social welfare payments with many being given disability benefit and all the ancillary benefits.

Absolutely. The longer it takes to be processed the longer they stay in the country and the longer those who are not entitled to stay are here and the longer those who are entitled to stay are held in limbo not able to contribute to the society they are desperate to be part of.

I would warrant that it will not cost us any more if this system was initiated and it actually might save the country money instead because we won't be paying for long term housing of those in direct provision then.

Also if someone doesn't fulfill the immigration rules they should be deported immediately.
Most of those claiming to be "Syrian" asylum seekers in the UK are found to be from Iran or Afghanistan or other countries that people can not apply for asylum from

They are all doing it for a better life which we as Irish people can understand BUT economic migrants are not asylum seekers and actually take from people who genuinely require asylum!

Tbh that's logical, we Irish would do exactly the same. Again as I said above if we have a more streamlined system then deporting those who are found not to fit the refugee or desired migrant status quickly would cut the number of opportunist migrants. Who wants to travel all the way here to end up at square one again.

You are starting to revel in this, getting more and more provocative.

At first, Syrians couldn't identify one of their children. The identification was a hoax. Then their father didn't love them and it's a bit convenient that he survived. Now he was trying to circumnavigate the globe.

You thought of any good jokes about it yet? I think you actually started one post with a smiley.

Go on, which part of my post was propaganda and not fact?

We cant find employment for most of our own people, are you prepared for tax rises to pay for these refuges to live off social?

So most of our people have no employment....really? Would love to see your stats on that one. Refugees don't get social welfare. Again would love to see you back this up. Stats and figures, how much will tax go up by etc? I'll wait.

Care to actually address a point ive actually made?

    Again,

What parent foolishly leaves a SAFE SANCTUARY and risks the lives of their family thinking they can peddle from the med to Canada?

    Seriously, think about it.

I also said, as a parent I would DIE trying to save my child life. I would not be courting the media looking for sympathy, I wouldn't be alive to do so because I would still be in the sea with my family.

Do you have evidence it wasn't?

You surely know the general rule about the person who makes an assertion.

You think up any good jokes about this one yet anyway? Maybe one based on your theory that the father wasn't that bothered about his children cos he was more interested in that cruise to Canada.

    You want stats?

    Two million in work,

    1.4 Million not in work,

Deduct the countless numbers of those on Dole schemes like jobs bridge etc.

You also claim refugees dont get social welfare?

    Seriously?

    How do they live?

Do they not get money, housing, healthcare, education, countless of asylum appeals costing the tax payer millions.

And of course they wont always be refugees, after so many years they are allowed to take up residency.

Given the glibness with which you address this news story, I don't believe for one second that you are a father.

I see you are now accusing this child's father of "courting the media".

So how did the media find him?

Out of all the refugees he just happened to be found as the child's father?

I suggest you close it. Yes, I know I am the OP but still, Irishfreeview and others have hijacked what was supposed to be a thread for the simple expression of disbelief, sorrow, and emotion that this picture has brought up in many people.

It's a sad image of the boy but there isn't a chance in hell we should allow a mass wave of 'refugees' into this country. Why didn't they stay in the first peaceful country they reached & claim asylum there? Because the majority are not really 'refugees' but young single male chancers/economic migrants with possibly an ISIS member or two among them. Europe has gone too soft & too naive.

Yeah just let 'em die. F**k 'em. That's the attitude.

But you are now contradicting what you said earlier when you said it was staged. Are you now saying the child and vulture really happened to be there, he just waited for the right shot?
