Serious amount of work in Errigal Road, Sliabh Sneacht areas of Letterkenny today. KN preparing fibre connectors in eircom ducts, picking up from where MCS left off some weeks ago. They are not running fibre from poles at this point.

Disappointed, but at least Siro is not too far away now.

I got the 1st and 2nd email saying the same for my rural location. Just 'chatted' with Eircom agent and no... Seems to me they just spammed everyone that had signed up to the webpage......

I got this email as well. Isn't this blatant false advertising!!

It would certainly give false hope to some for sure! They just have a big list of email addresses/numbers of people interested and fired off a generic email to all I guess without thinking...

I knew that there had been no fibre related work going on around my location but I wondered if they had been proactive and had a confirmed date scheduled for work starting and I was one of the lucky few to have them start with my village (which is listed on their rollout to be done by 2020) .... I was dreaming of course.

I thought I was special getting that second email.

a kn guy knocked out my phone line yesterday.
someone rang this morning saying I was plugged out and they plugged my back in.

the speed's awful, hopefully not long until we see some pricing etc.

Same here - that's outrageous!! How do we know it's marketing spoof again?

Not that I don't believe you but I can't believe they think they should get away with something like that. Shower of %unts!

Well, the full story is I was connected to an eircom port when I shouldn't have been, I think.

I was getting efibre speeds when I'm on the older dsl until my contract with sky runs its course.
So I don't see the need to kick up a fuss except to get sky to give me the slow stuff, which they seem to have done. I'm connected to a BT port now, and the speed is going up every half hour 11 past the half/hour, so looks like I'm finally getting what I was contracted to receive, 1 month and 3 weeks after my move.

Does anybody know what they're doing in Eircom?

The first email was fine it was crap advertising but this 2nd email is claiming that FTTH is planned for your house!
If there are sending emails out like this - without actually having plans to install, then COMREG should be made aware of such spam emails. I know they usually do very liitle about anything but this seems like something they should nail Eircom for.

I can understand peoples frustration in not being in one of the early areas but this is pure hyperbole. I've read the email several times and I don't see any mention of Eircom claiming anything other than some vague references to 'soon' and 'area' and 'checking'. And it goes on to say 'when it is [ready]', again a rather vague reference to some time in the future.

Serious imagination those lads in the Eircom marketing dept.
If only the reality was anything like what they're trying to spin.

But alas Deagol is more than likely right the email is constructed in such a way upon re-reading that a bunch of lawyers were probably consulted in it's careful wording - well at least they're giving their legal team work to do. More than their technicians have been getting.
What and absolute farce of a company.

I rang the sales dept to enquire about this so called 1gb offering - the response sadly didn't surprise me.
"We don't know anything about that email."
"As far as we're concerned your on a 4mb line connected directly to an exchange that hasn't been even upgraded to efibre."

I then asked were there some plans like the email kind of eludes to - he told me he wasn't aware of any.
Not the Sales Agents fault and I treated him with respect on the phone as of course I should - but they are such an ass of a company you couldn't make it up.

Ah yes - They didn't define area.... So in my case it means 'Somewhere in Ireland'....
We’re very excited that we will soon be delivering Ireland’s fastest broadband to your area, but what will these incredible speeds actually mean for you?

At a minimum they should have on the ultrafast website the list of the estates they are planning to roll out on in the next year or so. Not to be getting peoples hopes up.

I got that email as well and I know I will be one of the first afik they have all the fibre pulled in my estate but more importantly they have it to the manhole outside my door :) and there was nothing different in the email to what the rest of ye got

6.1kWp south facing, South of Cork City

At a minimum they shouldn't spam people. Anything after that is a bonus.

    Wow mind blowing tip there!

Bit of background for you I signed up to be notified when this product would be available to me.
If it turns out that they are lying in telling me it is available then I would consider the email spam.
In the same way that lets say a Nigerian business man is in trouble because he needs to offload a couple of million into my bank account.

It be like me asking about efibre and if I was interested and sign up for info eircom probably say efibre in my area in a email.I wouldn't be able to get it because of distance it all marketing.I don't get why people are hot and bother over it.

Sorry Rob - just annoyed to be told I was hot and bothered about it. I still think a company the size of Eircom has a responsibility if it wants to keep customers and grow it's customer base - which is NOT to send out spam.

Fair enough, pushing it there a bit I sense.

Cavan Town, Kilkenny City and Letterkenny Town, are these not the first 3 on the list to get ultrafast BB beginning in September 2015 so it makes sense to be sent an email. And anyone who signed up for the ultrafast BB should be aware that it will not be available to everyone even at locations where the manhole is a few yards down the road. Eircom have got it covered.

I for one cant wait to see UPC knocked off its perch I am sick of tired of getting fliers posters, ads on TV/Radio prattling on about 240mb and knowing full well it will NEVER be able where I live.

Cmon eircom even if you only do a few thousand homes in the next month or so you can run those ads.

And it will do wonders for ireland. I never in my dreams thought I would have faster BB than those in the UK and it happened, and if I get that ULTRAFAST thingy even at 150mb I'll be made up.

Unfortunately, I suspect once FTTH is going, UPC will turn up the speed on their system and we'll get to listen to them prattle on about that ;)
