No Boss or Marmion does put legs on the 2 9s suggestion.

It doesn't, it does the exact opposite. Having Reddan on the bench and Madigan nowhere in the 23 means it's not going to and never was going to happen.

Yeah Boss, we understood, we got it, Boss is the Boss, he'll play either Canada or Romounia. Good for him before retiring

I think it's possible to read into this that the three lads, Luke, Earls and Dk are in a straight fight on Saturday.

I would agree. I think sending Bowe and Trimble off to Ulster would suggest they're not overly concerned with seeing them play, they just want them to get game time. I'd assume they don't need to see any more of Madigan and Zebo either.

Can you post the teams please? I can't find it

Hope White and Furlong both have a nightmare, to give Moore and Connacht a chance ...

This only think I can't wait to see is the Hensh/Fitz/Earls association + Ian Handerson

The only thing I can read is there's a massive chance Trimble just missed the flight.

Well Bowe must be like the perfect combination of Savea and Habana in Carton House so because he certainly hasn't shown enough in what we've all seen on the pitch.

He did say "a lot of the guys playing with their provinces this week are in the 31, while a lot playing in the 23 are not "

    Well, we'll see soon enough.

Yes, the guys selected will hopefully pass it around and show their pace.
The opposition in the centres and wings are huge men, so we will have to be inventive to open them up.
Really looking forward to this match now, should be exciting! :)

Stronger Welsh team than Irish team (relatively speaking anyway).

Furlong, Jones, and D Kearney are not IMO. The others are in the 31, just intox.

Have the other provincial teams been named yet?

    100% disagree. I think he's in Joe's 1st choice XV.

Possibly. But that'd be a massive gamble at this stage. He may be impressing at training, but not playing more than 80 min of rugby in 10 months? He might have issues there.

FWIW I'd like him to be there. He really suits how we play. Himself, Bowe, Fitz, Zebo should be the wings for the tournament.

Joe said he wanted Trimble to get 80 minutes of rugby and he couldn't give him that with Ireland, presumably because he's still tinkering with combinations and players. It may not say he's definitely in the 31 but it most certainly says he hasn't been cut completely.

If he's doing enough in training Joe might think 80 minutes against England will do the job. I'm beginning to think Luke and Keith are in direct competition given they've both gotten starts in the same positions. I reckon Joe has Dave pencilled in and Saturday will just confirm his inclusion.

But then I also think we're all mad to try and second guess what is happening as we simply don't have a clue what Joe is thinking.

Relatively speaking yes, but I actually think we have a better team out. I'd argue we have a weaker front row, parity second row, we've a better back row in my opinion.

Our half backs are better and I'd just about give the edge to them in the centres. Back three is close, don't rate Cutberth lately but North is class.

Still I'd take fewer of their guys over ours.

Sorry...hope tone of my last post didn't imply that you don't like Trimble!!

I think he may play 60/65 minutes with ulster, then start and finish the English game.
Since ROG told us all the anecdote 18 months ago about how Joe singled out Trimble at the start of the 2014 6N camp as a player he (joe) bought into and had future plans for, I'm convinced that injury and lack of game time not to be enough to quieten the admiration and faith he has in Trimble.

We really are very fortunate with the order of our WC matches. I think if Joe had zero injury worries then Healy and Trimble would both be big game starters.

    Nobody released to Munster anyway.

Trimble will Travel. JS looking at all his wing options. I think DK has only played RW once before (vSamoa off the bench) and Earls have never played at 11 (under JS)

i think schmidt wants dave.k in the squad unless he underperforms this weekend and also same for trimble if he plays in the england match and does ok and plays 60mins he will be in also, that means disappointment for 1 out of 3 other big name players unless he goes with 2 scrum-halves. boss not playing or on the bench this weekend is a bit of a strange one not sure what to make of it.

I also think with 2 easier games coming up it gives schmidt and the players who are returning from injury a bit of time, I'd imagine that Healy may only come on in the 2nd half of the England match and then same for the first 2 games in the RWC, also worth bearing in mind that when O'Brien was unavailable Healy was the only true ball carrier who could make hard yards. of course we've played ok without both in the team but RWC it's those hard yards that will make the diference between winning and losing in the big games

And Boss named as a sub for leinster??. What use is 15 minutes to him there

Boss and McFadden and D'Arcy named for leinster.

Was Earls not our top try scorer at the last WC from 11?

    Edit: under JS, gotcha

I think the point is about him playing at 11 under JS.

Yeah, he had a tidy tournament on the wing for us last time around though.

I think Earls is our best 11 by a distance but I had thought that Joe wasn't going to give him a run there. I'm happy to see him there now and I hope it could mean he's in line to play there on the biggest days.

I think we might well get beaten by this Welsh outfit, I think they might be targetting a win here a little more than we are, so it might not be the best day to see what Kearney/Earls can do. I'm very excited to see what Henderson can do, I'd love to see a massive game from him.
