They started on the 5th century BC, believe it or not. In my day it was a bachelor party. Hens started in the 1960s.

Mind your own business. We were gentlemen who were out to celebrate an upcoming wedding and not acting like dicks. Being married myself for most of them I didn't need to get up to any shinanigans.
