So, I have to eat as much gluten as i can before a biopsy on Wednesday, but i pretty much despise bread and find pasta really boring (Aside: i'm eating a lot of nutella on bread which hides the bread flavor). I though, oh, if i can't have gluten anymore i'll go out with a bang, so i decided to get a M&S coffee cake and basically just eat that all weekend. The only coffee cake they had in M&S was gluten free>< Super glad it is there, but exactly what i didn't need at that moment! Whats the bets they will be sold out when i desperately need one and i go to get one next weekend^^

You can get powdered gluten. Maybe it could be just eaten and washed down with water. Not sure where you would get it though, might have to go to a bakery.

I'd stuff myself with as many pizzas and cakes and donuts and brioche & anything and everything deep fried coated with panko crumbs.

I asked the specialist if there was just a supplement i could stir into my food instead. I have never liked bread, even as a kid, and that dislike extends to many things with flour in them from pasta to pastry. Donuts and nan bread are two smells that i can barely tolerate, let alone the taste. Cake has always firmly been on the menu though (As you might have guessed from my plan to eat a whole one in two days).

God, imagine being under Doctor's orders to sit at home and stuff you face with as many donuts, pizzas, cakes, breads as you could stomach!

"hey, can you give me a hand here please?"

"Sorry, no can do! I've got some work to do.....yom, yom, yom........."

    Lasagne!
I had a similar test once, I'm really really intolerant to garlic so while they were testing me I had to eat it. Lasagne is really the only thing I missed. Stuffed my gob (but was so violently ill!)

Edit: I know it's pasta and you don't want it really. I do however consider it its own food group from the gods :p

I am partial to a nice saucy lasagne! I have my meals planned till wednesday anyhow as i have to use up my existing foods as much as i can. Tonight is chilli bean soup with some bread. Toast for breakfast, chicken soup with bread for lunch and then my final dinner will be penne with creme frais, bacon and peas - a pasta dish i also like quite a bit. Wednesday morning is a small slice of toast with butter as ordered by the doc and that will be it untill i'm out of the hospital that evening. I already have gluten free verified hagen dass waiting in the freezer for wednesday night^^

If it's written like that I'd buy the feck out of it. Step one: boil some motherfcking water... That'd be my kind of cookery book...

I've got the first book at home. There's one page where, just at random, half the page is taken up with the following in large letters :

"Garbanzo beans and chickpeas are the same f*cking thing!
    You're welcome!"

Makes me laugh every single time I open the page.

Really want to cook more from Thug Kitchen, everything looks so good in it, but I live with someone who doesn't eat any legumes or really vegetables at all so it's tricky to incorporate into dinners. HOWANDEVER that is a total excuse. I'm going to make myself some of that marinated tofu this weekend. And some of the salsas and possibly a salad dressing. And maybe the tabbouleh for next week's lunches.

First time post (long time lurker)

I was looking for some Cannoli Shells on Amazon and came across this review which I thought may give some a giggle.

"WOW making cannolies is hard. One burnt hand and a destroyed pan later I made what looked like cannolies, but it turns out I'm not a fan of the taste after all that."

I'm having a totally mental week at work and I think I'll make an easy pasta dish tomorrow when I get home. I was going to pick up one of those packets of fresh filled ravioli - any suggestions for a delicious & quick sauce to make with it? The only thing that came to mind that was super quick and easy was cream + garlic + black pepper.

I'll do a salad or something on the side while the pasta cooks - I just want something quick and tasty that will keep me from ordering a takeaway! I can already feel I will be exhausted tomorrow come 5pm. Ideas? I eat pretty much anything except liquorice and hazelnuts (aka the devils stool)

Filled ravioli with some sundried tomato pesto stirred through just before serving & lots of freshly shaved Parmesan and black pepper is my go-to "too lazy to cook" meal

Maybe a quick arrabbiata which isn't particularly exciting but will take all of two minutes? Alternatively a parmesan, cream and white wine jobbie? If you've a bit more time there are some nice ideas here.

    Zest a lemon.
Combine with a good knob of butter and a squeeze of the lemon juice.
    Melt.
    Add fresh herbs of choice.
    Stir through filled pasta.

    Great with fish too.

brown butter and sage! Love this over ravioli or gnocchi as a very occasional treat. It's as simple as melting butter and letting it go a bit caramelised and toasting your sage leaves in it

All of the meat in this country stinks, I'm not talking about the quality of the meat, I mean it really stinks, I don't understand why, it tastes perfectly fine. :( Also it's impossible to find beef mince or beef burgers, everything has pork in it.

Funny, it's exactly what I thought when I first came to Ireland. I couldn't walk past butcher's shops without feeling sick.

Also, cook the pasta 1 minute LESS than says on the packet. Otherwise it'll be overcooked once you sauce it in the pan.

On a different note - Here's an awesome article on smoking meat without a smoker. http://lifehacker.com/learn-how-to-smoke-meats-on-a-gas-or-charcoal-grill-wit-1724237174
