33 points, with Sterling to play, leaving me at 600k.

12 points up in my first FSA Championship game, my Sterling to his Sterling and Kolorov. Would like to think that'll be enough to win.

So. 43 pts (-1) *bloody bench already starts to annoy me *.
    GW & OR 100k.
Silva & Bony left. 2 potential pts to come in from the bench if...

Would have honestly signed for it Saturday morning.

Only real annoyance is getting rid of Shaw for Bellerin with only fixtures in head though I knew (but forgot) that Schneiderlin would bring CS to the Red Devils. This 'Pool £4.5m Gomez sounds like he'd have needed more consideration from my part too.

I don't regret ditching Ighalo too much. Will have to see who's the best Watford cheap forward to get. Could be one of the good 3rd striker option this year.

Maybe I should keep it for me but André Ayew could be this season FPL (& PL) revelation at Swansea. Only reason I didn't get him in is with my usual late comeback to the game I was not 100% sure he'd start (and didn't have time left to check it and remodel my team to fit him in). He's been the main man for many (most? all?) his seasons in Marseille.

And about Swansea, I'm also very pleased for Gomis. I said here many times last year that you can't score 10+ goals for 8 consecutive seasons in ligue 1 just out of fluke. If he gets regular starts he could really explode this season. Just, at £7m he may be too dear to really be a solid option for the game.

17 points with just captain Aguero left to play. What a shocking start to the season!

37 with Sterling to go , happy enough with that it's early doors and a long way to go. Banking my transfer this week.

Got lucky this week. Mings didn't play so Gomez comes in for him

I'm on 22 with nobody left. At 2million GW rank and only going to get worse. Awful stuff.

32 but 11 points to come off my bench in Gomez :)

43 is ordinarily terrible, but am quite happy all things considered.

    22 + Kun + Silva

Transferred Joe Gomez out on Friday night !!!

30 points with 1 to come off my bench. Have Gomez as my 3rd sub so will get nothing for him :( Going to save my transfer for next week.

Almost everyone who has Gomez benched him I have him benched in both games but it was the right thing to do.

I had him as my 3rd sub. Had Bellerin in my starting 11 but will be replaced by Morgan. Just one of those things.

23, also Gomez benched, would be happy enough if Sterling didn't play now. Lowlights include going without Cabaye despite seeing him as must have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,049 ✭✭✭remoteboy

Well that was a disaster. 21 points with Sterling left to play.

In total my keeper and defence contributed 1 point to the cause. 3 defenders didn't play - Bellerin, Mings, Staylor. Keeper sent off. Only Cedric coming off the banch with 3 kept me out of minus figures.

Captain Rooney got me 10 points. Wasn't happy with it at the time. Delighted now. Had the armband on Rooney since the site opened for business. 11:40 changed it to Hazard. 11:42 changed it to Walcott. 11:44 changed it back to Rooney.

This game is not good for the nerves. :o

I started him over Coates due to clean sheet odds and Stoke's dire pre season form. I thought it was a 50/50 though. Annoyingly Coates will come off my bench for Bellerin negating the good play

Yeh depends on how you spent in defence obviously for most I think it was right to bench him those who went super cheap were rewarded!

Yup, credit to Busts for bigging him up on here. My late switch of Muniesa and Francis to Gomez and Souare was worth 15 points. Saved me from a shocking display from my front 7

Happy I went with him but it was as 5th defender so he well out of the game for me even have him in the reserves in UFPL just to make it worse!

I think that carries throughout the team too. From what I'm seeing, Aguero has paid off without even playing. A mate ripped his team apart for him at the last minute and Cabaye, Ricards, Gestede, Lukaku all came into the fold over more expensive alternatives. Surprised he didn't have Mahrez too :)

And now the bugger has Sterling and Aguero capt to come.

Yeh teams who went cheap with Aguero have certainly been rewarded with top performances wish I had knee jerked him in now!

Solid enough 38 points so far with Sterling and Berahino tonight. Breaking 50 given the GW that's in it would be a very respectable start.

With Azpi, MU CS & to a lesser extent 'Pool CS it's not entirely true.

Maybe a Azpi + Shaw coupled with a cheapies 3-way rotations (which could include Gomez - can only blame my usual lazy starts to have completely missed him  -) could be again the way to go this year.
As much as cheapies can be attractive, I'm of the ones who would like to avoid the select 3 out of 5 dilemma every single GWs (and don't forget the away CS annoying factor).

Anyone who spent a reasonable amount on their defence was unlikely to have him starting was the point. Anyone who went with two big defenders plus a three way rotation was doing it wrong if he was starting!

Pity I left him on my bench though. If he holds his place they have 4 great home fixtures in the next 6. I started huth bassong and kolorav over gomez. Maybe should have started gomez over bassong as palace are quite attacking.

Isn't it amazing the impact Aguero could have tonight. If he doesn't play/gets a cameo then those of us (me!) who brought him in will feel that a s*ite week just got worse, while those planning to bring him in in GW4 will be delighted they held off.

However, if he was to score, not only would my 26 points become a relatively respectible (for this week!) 32 but I'd also have the 'prize chip' already in my team, and a viable captain option for the next 8 weeks. The gameweek would look a whole lot better

Nothing will be won or lost by Aguero starting/not starting but either way its going to be fun to see how everyone reacts (including me!)

Not that I want to dispute just for the sake of disputing but I thought I had just read that Pool CS odds were good and Stoke had an average pre-season?

Also which teams you'd include in a cheap 3-way rotation with Liverpool? The cheap ones that rotate decently enough with them are West Bromwich (34), Watford (30), Crystal Palace (26), Swansea & Newcastle (22) and Norwich (20) (amount of home/away rotations over the season in brackets). Of course it's always easy in hindsight but I don't see that much wrong in going Gomez ahead of any defender from these teams considering GW1 fixtures.

They were 2/1 Norwich, Leicester and even Bournemouth were shorter. I would have thought a 3 way rotation would probably feature Huth as one of the 4.5s.

    Ah OK.

The thing is Liverpool & Leicester don't rotate well at all. If I had owned Gomez I think I would have played him ahead of all the teams I mentioned (purely fixtures-wise) and out of the 3 you mentioned I'd only have favoured Huth (whom I actually own and played).

Anyway, this doesn't make your point un-valid (not my intention anyway) but I wanted to stress that spending "reasonably" in defense could work well too and save some selection dilemmas ;).

Also the cheap defense point was stronger last year wasn't it (though it's only 1 GW so far)?

Not much point looking at rotation over the whole season though for two reasons - (1) Gomez is not likely to hold his place for too long and (2) wildcards will be used between now and then.

I looked at rotations over the first 8 weeks or so as it's likely I'll have used my wildcard by then. The best rotating pair of teams over that period with Liverpool is Leicester and Stoke (if only one of the three is playing), so the Leicester defender definitely would have been in the team for this week anyway home to Sunderland.
