    Any thoughts on this?

Traditionally I load up on attackers and do fairly well and will probably do the same this year once Aguero and Sanchez are back regularly (I'll WC after GW 4/5 as usual). I went for balance with this one.

Midfield looks good, but your forwards are underwhelming. You could downgrade Sinclair and maybe one of your more expensive defenders and upgrade Defoe I'd suggest.

Nice balance to the team, first team looks excellent to me, but I'd definitely swap out Kaboul as he's not sure of a start.

Shaw. Van Gaal has said he will be his starting LB. Wouldn't be too sure of Darmian being a starter ever week.

    1st Draft.

Probably play Coates instead of Ki for Gw1.

You must have a decent wad of cash left over. Your MF is a bit light.

Ok, this Costa injury has caused a rethink. all criticisms welcome! Team is set up for 8 GWs only as will WC at that stage.

GKS: Mignolet & Ruddy - 8 nice home fixtures to start.

DEF: Mertesacker, Cedric, Huth, Coates, Mings. I have 0.5 to upgrade Mert to Azpi but think Arsenal might be tight at the back this year. Cedric looks like he likes to push on and hopefully Saints are as tight at the back this year. The other 3 give me SUN, NOR, SWA, LEI, AST, SUN, sto, WAT.

MID: Fabregas - can't justify the extra for Hazard with their early fixtures.
Sterling - could be used as a front man till Aguero returns.
Henderson - great value at the price. As bad as Liverpools away fixtures are, the home ones are great.
Ozil - could still be Cazorla or Walcott but Ozil looks the safest bet for starts.
Ritchie - Seem a lot for someone who won't play for me every week but is part of my Aguero plan.

    FOR:
Rooney - Main man at Man U and viable captain option.
Lukaku - striker with best fixture in GW1
Pelle - up and running in the EL, hoping he carries it into the league season.

Aguero plan: Rooney and Lukaku to Aguero and Deeney (Deeney rotates with Ritchie)

0.5m in the bank for price rises etc.
I was on mig and ruddy but switched to gomez and bassong to get the most out of that rotation its probably safer to do what you are doing so may switch back.

    Thinking of swapping for Shaw.

Gonna go without, brave I know. If Kane looks like he is gonna do a repeat of last year I'll get him in.

Brave no. Even at his price he is a must have. I have hazard at the minute but augero IMO is more important. I'm going without for the first 3/4 gws I usually wildcard early. Plan is to ditch Rooney and one of my mids for kun.

Will see out Utd go early on as I'm normally a player that goes with a cheap defence. At the minute I have courtais mertasacker Huth o Shea ward and usually go with a 4.0m def that will see game time.

Yes I would be worried by scheiderlin and to a lesser extent chadli. Scheiderlin will be playing deep and unlikely to pick up many attacking returns also you seem to have a lot of money tied up on your bench

    First proper attempt, any thoughts?

Defence is poor I know but I'm hoping the front 7 will make up for it and I'm planning an early wildcard.

Right, final one - wrecking my f**cking head at this stage! Brackets are my subs for GW 1)

    Ruddy - McCarthy

Mings, Huth, Bellerin, (Cedric, S Taylor)

    Milner Sterling Cazorla Hazard (Odemwingie)

    Benteke Pelle Rooney - captain

Unsure yet on Odemwingie, can swap for Sinclair or Wanyama ( which will leave me with .5m in the bank)

Can transfer Rooney and Sterling out for Aguero and a 6.5 MF from gw4

Almost forgot about this. Here's my first draft. Happy enough with it, might actually leave it as I'll end up spending hours messing with it. Tried to spread squad out as far as teams are concerned. Hopefully that midfield can get me a few assists. Not sure about the defense. I don't usually send so much on defense/goalkeeper but it bit me in the *** a few times last season so a change in strategy. What's peoples thoughts on Richards?

    Any other suggestions?

    Serious front 7.

I'd start the season like that and if your defence needs attention you could downgrade either Ozil or Walcott to Henderson or Milner and use the extra cash to upgrade 2 of your starting back three...you'd have to do it over the course of 3 weeks though. Unless you take hits.

I think you will need some form of attacking coverage from Arsenal. Do you have any money in the bank?

Also, don't captain Benteke, it's far from certain he will start on Sunday.

    Ok, Round 2 of selections...

    GK: Schmeichel, Hennessey
DEF: Cedric, Bellerin, Darmian, Morgan, Targett
MID: Cazorla, Hazard, Depay, Larsson, Wanyama
    FWD: Rooney, Kane, Deeney

Leaves £3m in space, which will be used to upgrade Cazorla to Sanchez once he's healthy.

I'd be a bit worried about the number of 'cheap' attacking players you have. Having to play 2 of Larsson, Wanyama and Deeney each week won't end well I fear. Each is a 'punt' so u need a 2/3 success rate.

I'd spend your 3m and upgrade Larsson to Hendo/Milner or downgrade Darmian and get Sterling in for Larsson.

Also, I'd be far more concerned about getting in a little Argentinian than I would be about getting Sanchez.

Right. I think this is the draft I'm going to go with after a lot of tinkering.
Still a few worries though and any advice would be welcome...

    gQzFoGY.jpg

    Worries are:

Lack of city coverage. Will be playing early WC (GW4/5) to get Aguero in.

Doubling up on United attack - With Rooney up front on his own I would like to have him in there with both Costa and Aguero a doubt. It's looking like Memphis will partner him up front and will be getting points as a midfielder. Will also be on set pieces and has a great goal record last year. Can't bring myself to take him out at the moment but if I do I will need to source another 0.5 and get Sterling.

Benteke - Can he hit the ground running...

Walcott - Will he get in up front ahead of Giroud again. I think he will do well at the start and hoping he can cement a place in the team. If not he will be one of the outgoings from early WC.

Jerome - Likely to start up front and Norwich have some good fixtures but he has never really done it in the prem. Will be keeping an eye on Villa to see if they start Kozak for the first few games as he has been on fire in pre-season and I will rotate him with Sinclair as I think Villa will always have a goal in them this season under Sherwood.

I'm happy enough with the GK and Defense and hoping I have a midfield packed with players who will start in a very advanced role and can score goals.

Ok, still thinking about my team-

    Team (subs in brackets)

    Courtois (Rudd)
    O'Shea--Cedric--Shaw--Bellerin (S Taylor)
    Walcott--Depay--Hazard (C) (Wanyama, Jedinak)
    Wilson--Rooney--Costa.

£0.5m in bank with plan of selling Rooney & downgrading Walcott to get Aguero in.

I am now concerned about Costa's fitness, Jose has been talking about how he's not sure when Costa will be fully fit.

    So..
Was thinking of changing strikers to

    Rooney--Kane--Rodriquez.

Anyone know if Jose is just trolling or how Rodriguez is getting on pre-season?

Both sets of strikers leave me with £0.5m to get Aguero.

Again, sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any feedback

Clichy hasn't gone yet anyway and I'd be surprised if Pellegrini would leave himself short of cover, Kolarov is certainly first choice but there's an element of risk that I'm not 100% comfortable with. Saying that I'd love to have Kolarov in my team and might do yet.

Another reshuffle after the doubts with lukaku. Ive decided to just start with benteke and got in sterling for milner and a few defensive tweaks.
    Sketelberg hennessey
    huth bassong coates muniesa gomez
    sterling walcott hazard ramsey ritchie
    benteke rooney deeney

barring any last minute injuries I think thats me done. FHFC you were right all along Ive reverted to a cheap defence 31.5 on the back 7.

3-5-2 formation. Schmeichal, Coleman, Janmatt, Koscielny, Walcott, Bolasie, Puncheon, Hazard, Coutinho, Benteke, Lukaku (c)

Subs. Butland, Clyne, Wisdom, and Rickie Lambert.

Made some changes, Hennessy, Mahrez, Depay, Defoe, in for Butland, Bolasie, Puncheon, and Lambert

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,624 ✭✭✭lassykk

Right think I'm getting closer to a final draft

    SoKnIyW.png

Ruddy & Butland give a good rotation for the start of the season and are 0.5 cheaper than my previous draft with Mignolet and Ruddy

Defence.. Good 3 way rotation between Francis (linked well with Ritchie last year), Huth & Coates. Generally going to play Mert & Cedric most weeks

Midfield.. 3 big hitters - Hazard, Sterling & Walcott - one will be downgraded to accomodate Aguero, probably Sterling

Cheap Midfielder & Cheap Forward - Rotation between the 3 of Sinclair / Ritchie & Sakho... I have concerns over Sinclair's game time but hopefully will be fine

Up top - Rooney & Kane... Kane could change to Benteke or Lukaku but I think United Spurs will have goals at both ends so will stick with Kane

    Any thoughts?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 974 ✭✭✭internet_user

    Schmeichel Myhil
    Azpil Bellerin Richards Targett Taylor
    Walcott Depay Sterling Hazard Henderson
    Rooney Wickham Agbonlahor

Thinking about playing 3-5-2 to start off with seeing as theres doubts over a lot of the main strikers! Only problem is it will take a couple moves to bring in aguero if he gets going monday night!

Looks very good. Our defence is almost identical, so can't criticise that! Midfield looks good, the only worry I have is Walcotts game time. Maybe he's the one to go for Aguero?

I don't know what to think about Kane. Personally, if I was sure Benteke would start I'd pick him. The focus is on how poor Liverpools away fixtures are but their home games are tasty. That's a judgement call though so I can't fault your Kane pick.
