Looks like Rooney is going to be pretty much an out and out striker this year. Cedric seems to be going straight in as first choice. I have both in my team Cedric should be superb value and Rooney will hopefully hit the ground fast and then maybe have a little rest around GW4 so its easier to make the switch!

I'll take a look so! You are much more likely to get a response if you save people a click and post the team in the thread until you are able to post pics.

GK: I prefer Myhill to Schmeichel but its very close really.

DEF: Looks solid enough a couple of decent defenders from top teams and good experienced players from lower teams who may benefit from the BPS changes but Huth & Schmeichel with a new manager would like to be avoiding that double up until we know more.

MID: Theo is the obvious risk here he might start up front or he might start on the bench its hard to know for sure combine this with going with players with no Premier League experience who you are going to have to start on a regular basis makes it even riskier. Personally I would downgrade Sterling to Mane and use the million to upgrade Deeney to Sakho.

ATT: Deeney as mentioned. A good few are going with him but rotating him with Ritchie but you are going to have to be starting the two of them pretty often by the looks of it.

Overall 5 9m+ players makes the team very lop sided unless you are captaining players at that price they are bad value in my opinion you are best to go with the 3 that you are going to be captaining and then use the extra funds to upgrade one or two of the weaker players that you are likely to be starting. For example:

Sterling, Theo, Deeney & Huth to Mane, Cazorla/Ozil/ramsey (whichever is your preference), Sakho & Cedric would make the team look a lot better imo. It would also mean not doubling up on a defence with a new manager.

Do you have anything in the bank and do you have an Aguero plan?

EDIT: I have basically just told you to turn your team into mine I guess its hard to avoid doing that really!

Cedric & Panti and use the .5 somewhere else imo.

Ok, this Costa injury has caused a rethink. all criticisms welcome! Team is set up for 8 GWs only as will WC at that stage.

GKS: Mignolet & Ruddy - 8 nice home fixtures to start.

DEF: Mertesacker, Cedric, Huth, Coates, Mings. I have 0.5 to upgrade Mert to Azpi but think Arsenal might be tight at the back this year. Cedric looks like he likes to push on and hopefully Saints are as tight at the back this year. The other 3 give me SUN, NOR, SWA, LEI, AST, SUN, sto, WAT.

MID: Fabregas - can't justify the extra for Hazard with their early fixtures.
Sterling - could be used as a front man till Aguero returns.
Henderson - great value at the price. As bad as Liverpools away fixtures are, the home ones are great.
Ozil - could still be Cazorla or Walcott but Ozil looks the safest bet for starts.
Ritchie - Seem a lot for someone who won't play for me every week but is part of my Aguero plan.

    FOR:
Rooney - Main man at Man U and viable captain option.
Lukaku - striker with best fixture in GW1
Pelle - up and running in the EL, hoping he carries it into the league season.

Aguero plan: Rooney and Lukaku to Aguero and Deeney (Deeney rotates with Ritchie)

0.5m in the bank for price rises etc.

    Very nice team.

Good cheap defence rotation for the first 8 GWs. I have Huth and Coates in my latest draft but can't stretch to another 4.5 with the rest of my team

Not sure about Henderson but for the price he does offer good value. Have gone with Walcott & Hazard myself but that has weakend my defence

Up top I assume you are hoping for a quick return for Aguero as Lukaku first game might be nice but they ain't so good after that. What is the earliest he's expected back... Is it GW2?

Looking at your defence it seems you might have got the impression you can use the 2-5-3 chip every week!! That is a seriously budget defence you have yourself there!! I would probably be downgrading one of those 8.5m+ players and spread the funds around to give yourself a chance of fielding 11 players which is definitely a risk right now.

Looks decent, the Mignolet/Ruddy has me thinking now as well, I'm currently on Courtois + 4m.

Just on Lukaku, he does have a great GW1 fixture, but is he not a very early transfer waiting to happen? I was toying with him too, but I want to have the flexibility to hop on any useful early bandwagons that might appear, or hold on to my transfer until GW2. I suppose if it's part of your Aguero plan fair enough, we're all going to have to make transfer for that.

Actually, now that I think of it, Walcott plays the same role for me - might only be there for a GW or two, but downgrading him frees up my Aguero cash.

Hmm...yeah...will Baker actually start for Villa?

I just think realistically I could start 10 out of that team every week regardless of fixtures provided the Southampton D is anywhere near as good as last year.

Not likely imo same goes for Saylor and Yoshida is big risk Southampton are on the hunt for defenders seems likely they are going to sign 1 CB minimum so you might have to waste a transfer taking him out well worth finding the .5 to make him Cedric or just go Targett as he is .5 cheaper and probably only going to get a game or two as well.

You want to be starting at least 11 every week though, and barring injuries at least 14 of your players (backup goalie aside) should be getting some points every week.

I already have Cedric :D. I think Saylor will start. If Baker is definitely not going to start then I will have to rethink things. Probably going to have about another 4 teams before the start of the league anyway. :pac:

Didn't even notice him tucked away at the side there!! Even if Saylor does start those fixtures aren't the best but I guess 2 points a game is 0.5ppm which isn't bad!

I don't agree with your assessment of his defence, Coutois, Mert and Cedric are all great and could be season main stays. The only concern are the 3 cheapest lads who might not get a game at all, yosida has had a good pre season but he could lose in place. Id swap him with francis at Bournemouth

You don't agree it needs more money to be spent on but do think that 60% of the defence might not start? Merte & Cedric are obviously decent picks but more money definitely needs to go in there to make sure at least 3 defenders start each week.

He is back in training so could even make the bench this week. As City have Chelsea in GW2, I'm aiming for a GW3 purchase.

Yeah, Lukaku is going as part of the Aguero plan, maybe as early as GW2 but definitely GW3.

I don't like having transfer planned in advance as something is bound to go wrong, but I just think its madness not bringing in Aguero.

All of my outfield players should start so I can handle an injury or two if necessary.

And therein lies the problem. He could be playing with 10 men every week! He needs to change 1, or preferably 2 of those lads.

Is that the OX?? If so it's a huge risk after this weekend.
You could do a lot better with that by replacing him with a playing 4.5 filler.
Upgrade Hennessy to someone who is first choice all the time, don't force the transfer on yourself.
You don't want Gabby, he won't play nearly enough, for an extra .5m you have a lot of choices to replace him.
I'd rethink Targett and Senderos as well, again you are only asking for trouble and looking at a definite early wildcard when otherwise you mightn't need to.

Long story short, get a 4.5 mid and begin from there.
