Phenomenal. What an astonishing human being. The phrase "before her time" was invented for her.

It's hard to gauge time of a gif reply, but looks like Maz tapped him 4 or 5 times before he let go.

went back watched it again he tapped 4 times 3 seconds before mazagatti gets in thats not bad at all, ive seen slower from herb dean and mccarthy before, mazzagati is usually crap no doubt but he was fine there i think anway.

as for pahares scum held on for 5 more sheilds taps and ref tapping and yelling at him to let go

Whoever is defending Palhares needs to be shot. How many times is this now? And there was 8 taps before he let go. Again. I'd imagine this is the last straw. Should never fight again.

no one defending palhares im defending (and none is more shocked by this development than me ) mazzagatti

i dunno he wasnt super quick in but it was not that slow either, as for not breaking them up he tried to be fair

He could have been standing in a better position tbf. Palhares grabbed it from the bottom, and Jake rolled with it. Maz was a bit flat footed while that was going on, but he got in there quick enough after the first tap.

yeah thats fair enough, its just that maz gets nailed for everything yet other refs get away with it example gomi v lauzon, herb dean had a picnic while watching gomi unconsious and nobody says boo

Yeah, I suppose with Mazzagatti reffing another Palhares fight everyone expected the worse. Steve was as quick as Big John or Herb Dean would have been.

if your gonna talk all that smack you have to a least be able to back it up with some sort of ability....... Correia did more damage to the mat on the way down.

She is a beauty and a beast all rapped into one. that body shot really took it out of corriea and it was open season after that.

Please UFC, never put those godforsaken TUF finals in the middle of a big PPV card again. Jesus Christ, painful stuff

I'm not going to be PC or stand up for women's equality, but that was disgusting. Not a sport for women

The term PC is so watered down now.

What exactly was disgusting? Two professional athletes competing. It's not PC to suggest their sex shouldn't exclude them from mixed martial arts.

Saying it's not a sport for women is the opposite of PC and the opposite of standing up for women's equality

    It's also wrong

I knew it would be a ko. I think Ronda finds it more fun just knocking people out.

Glad to hear Big Nog won't be fighting again and joining Forest as a UFC employee. He's some legend!

Great to see Shogun win but he needs to retire but a rampage fight? Why not.

    Palhares is an absolute scumbag

? I'm not trolling, look through all my posts and you will see that I don't. It's a personal opinion. I know my argument will not hold water since it is posted in a UFC thread, so I am not expecting sympathy :)
I just find women fighting, with no adequate protection in a "sport" a bit brutal. Just a personal opinion, nothing more

Women have been battling in thai-boxing, karate, wrestling, boxing and more for years without any protection. Or have you just heard of these martial arts now too?

I'm guessing your first whiff of this came watching McGregor on the late late show :D

Anyone who doesn't agree with the live ins in this forum is automatically a band wagon jumping troll who's never watched the sport before.

But I don't see why you see it as not for women because its a bit brutal but ok for men ? Its the nature of the sport and those who compete are used to it, prepared for it and well able take it.

I agree. It's quite sad, really. I don't see it in other sports.

I'd imagine if someone was posting in the Golf, Cycling, Archery or Kayaking forums and referring to it as "sport" in inverted commas you might find similar reactions.

Anyone who wasn't there for UFC 1 is a bandwagoner according to some, around these parts.

Long card, ending with a typical Ronda win, she's incredible!

Struve looked good, glad he's gained a bit more size. Needs a bit more movement and to use his jab like he did his front kicks, stop the shorter guys getting inside to land. Nog took all his shots well enough bar one, happy to see he is retiring.

Looking forward to Gadelha V JJ and Ronda V Tate III.
