    He didn't mean to hurt him but gives the victim a running kick. Don't think I'll ever understand the judiciary system in this country.

    Hard labour and death sentences are the only way we will ever stop scum like this.
    How ridiculous is it to have a defense of "oh I was off me t1ts on drugs so I can't be held responsible" and have a judge accept that?
    As long as solicitors can keep the revolving door going and get repeat offenders on free legal aid off all the time the system will never change

    It seems unbelievable with such an attack on someone that the defendant will not see the inside of a jail.

    So that criminal court, right? Can this fella that got absolutely no justice now bring this thug to a civil court and take him for every little bit that he's got? It was so severe there's fears of damage to his vision..that's life altering. The thug should be paying a chunk of whatever little he probably has every month for the rest of his miserable life.

    What about the poor lad who was minding his own business, listening to some music and popping in to get some take away food ?, he gets jumped on for his earphones and then his guy Adams gives him a severe skull fracture.

    We get to know about Adam's "poor background" and "difficult" life on drugs and his remorse. But what about the victim, how long did he spend his hospital ? how painful was this for him ? did he have to attend out patients for follow up care ? how has the double attack affect his life ?

    Spike Island was closed because it wasn't comfortable enough for these types, and too far from anywhere (Dublin) for relatives top visit.
    I remember politicians saying something like...'why should relatives be punished by having to travel such a distance...will somebody please think of the children, blah blah blah'

    I'm sick of the old chestnut about the perpetrator's upbringing and falling into drug use. Many people come from less well off backgrounds but don't turn out like pure scum which is what Adams is.

    Garlic smuggler who cost the taxpayer over a million during a crippling recession.

    No doubt a slimy legal team, paid for by the taxpayer, played up this piece of dirt's upbringing in an attempt to have the judge suspend the sentence.
    How these legal people live with themselves is beyond me.
    They're as bad, if not worse than the perpetrator of the crime.

    It's situations like this where the right to bear arms in self defence should be brought in its ridiculous at this day and age scum cant and won't be punished by the criminal justice system in this country

    The full extent of the victims injuries probably won't come to light until years from now. Head trauma is a hard one to judge. I think if you run at a person and kick them full force in the head unprovoked, then you should see the inside of a cell for at least a few years.

    The effective import rate of tax for garlic is over 200%.
    Only in a country like this would that be considered normal.

    He also paid the €1.6 million of what can only be describes as extortion money back.

    He served time in jail and is banned from being a director of a company for 5 years.



    The scrote at the centre of this discussion gets a suspended sentence.

    Says it all really.

    And another.
    A DUBLIN TEENAGER who launched a vicious, unprovoked attack on a father-of-two in front of his young family has received a two year suspended sentence.

    Sean Beumer (19) of Edenmore Crescent, Coolock pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Court to assault causing harm to Mark Kelly at Grace Park Heights, Drumcondra on March 15 last year.

    Judge Martin Nolan said the victim was attacked viciously during a frightening, unprovoked and serious assault which was witnessed by his wife and family.
    Judge Nolan noted that Beumer had expressed remorse and cooperated with gardaí and said the courts were “always open” to reform, particularly with a young person.

    He said because of this he would not impose a custodial sentence. He suspended the sentence for two years and ordered Beumer to undergo one year Probation and Welfare Service supervision.

    I posted this is a previous thread 2 weeks ago, I think I'll start copying it and pasting it until we start getting somewhere. I want to get people MAD.

    Look, I'll spell out the big secret for you. Stories like this are here to stay-this is the new normal, to borrow the phrase. We were outraged last week about some other violent scumbag. And the week before that. And all the weeks before that. We've been outraged for years. And still nothing gets done. And we'll be outraged next week about yet another toerag who beats the law yet again.

    Nothing is ever going to change until the Irish public organizes themselves into co-ordinated, vocal groups that demand, not meekly ask, but straight up fcuking DEMAND that the state protects its citizens, and gives the public what they want. We saw it with the Gay rights movement. We saw it with the Divorce referendum. People power does work, but Christ it can be slow to effect change. But once it gets going, it snowballs quite fast. The Irish public need to organise a public strike, involving the trade unions, to bring attention to this nuisance. This is going to continue indefinitely until we do something about it.

    So please, no more whining to Joe Duffy. No more moaning in the pub. No more pointless rants on facebook about crime. No more looking the other way. The only way this is going to get sorted is by targeting the people who control the levers of power in this country:
    1. The legal system.
    2. The media.
    3. Your local TD.

    So what is the solution? We've tried being nice. We've tried to be reasonable with the scummers. We've tried the kid gloves, the softly softly, the rehabilitation, the slap on the wrists, the final warning.

    The reality is that Ireland needs a super prison that can hold 5,000 prisoners. Bring in a 3 strikes rule. The only way you'll see a reduction in crime is by denying criminals their liberty. And for those who say prison is only a criminal university? Yeah, it is. But the criminals can learn all you want doing 20 years behind bars.

    So will we be here again next week, going round and round in circles? Or will we start to lobby for change?
    Are you prepared to march to demand a safer Ireland?

    We can all keep looking the other way, but sooner or later, it's going to be me and you that gets out teeth kicked out. Or worse.

    It's a false economy to not build and run sufficient prisons. We spend 70 million on free legal aid every year. That's free solicitors and barristers for career criminals who are in court every second day and committing crime every day. The cost of court staff, judges, gardai, probation workers is huge. The cost to society - in this incident the mans medical bills for treatment of a fractured skull. You will save money if incarcerate anti-social elements.

    This is such a lazy myth. The idea that prisons are schools for criminals. They learn all they need to learn from the time they're walking in the communities they come from.

    Completely agree.. however, as long as we have a society that shirks all personal responsibility whenever possible - blaming "someone else" or the "system" or a "disadvantaged upbringing" (as was used by the Defence per the OP's link) it's going to continue.

    Yet despite this, many of the same people who express shock and disgust at such a case and sentence, are then the first to be calling for the legalisation of so-called "harmless" drugs. Yup, makes sense! :rolleyes:
