Excuse me for being skeptical bigmick, but if I get a double memory foam delivered for €158, I am not expecting it to be a good quality mattress.

Would I be wrong? It's just too cheap.

    Hi bigmickey.ie

Do you take away old mattresses if we purchase a new one?

    Hi there

Yes we take away the old ones and dispose of them to a licensed recycler. There may be a small charge as we have to pay €10 for a single and €15 for the bigger sizes to the recycler. This is what it costs us to get rid of them. We don't profit from it. Depending on the size of your order we sometimes wave these charges also.

Is it a complete mattress or is it just a memory foam topper.

Bought a Kaymed memory foam mattress about 8 years ago. Cosy as hell in the winter but hot as hell in summer. I would not go for memory foam again.

    Hi there

It's a memory mattress. No springs. Full foam and memory foam mattress. They are not as deep as most mattresses but they are very comfy. Quite a few guys of boards got them this week so feel free to post whether it's good or bad but for value for money they won't be beaten I believe.

I bought a King Koil 'Extended Life' King Size mattress today for €700. Mattress comes with a 15 year warranty.

The same mattress in Arnotts was €1499. In EZ Living it was €999 in the sale reduced from €1399. Harvey Norman selling it for €1279.

Our Sealy spring & memory foam mattress is going in the bin tomorrow after just a few years of use. I'd never ever again buy Sealy or memory foam. As others have said memory foam is warm in winter but sticky in Summer. And no matter what anyone says it DOES become indented with body shape and becomes uncomfortable.

Has anyone bought one of these €149 memory foam mattresses from Bigmickey and received them yet?

Thinking of getting one, but just wondering what the quality is like as unfortunately I'm too far to go see them in person.

I have a bad back and would like to know what the Silent night 3 zone memory foam is like if anyone got one?

    Thanks

I have a question for big mickey:

Is there much difference in price if I head down to your shop on a regular weekend versus one of your start-of-month sales?

Never had Sealy but have to agree on the winter/summer issue with memory foam and indentation. I would not get memory foam again. Pocket sprung with some decent natural padding on top.

Wasn't cheap either: the dearest mattress I ever bought.

I bought 1 of these silentnight memory foam kingsize about 3 yrs ago from the main man himself and we have never looked back!! I have a very bad back and honestly this mattress is like sleeping on a cloud for me (not that its not firm)! So much so that its a nightmare when I have to sleep in a different bed (hotels etc, not that its very often :)). The mattress comes rolled up and vacum packed so you have to open it and lay it out flat for a few hours til it fills out. Its also no turn so once its on the bed thats it :). Hope that helps

I bought it in the 'Furniture Liquidator' store on the Malahide Road, Coolock. They have them advertised at €879 for the King Size but selling them for €700 if you speak to the right person (the female older woman - not the younger males). I think she's the owner. Charged me €20 on top for delivery which is very reasonable.

The reason I like it is it can be flipped as it's a double sided mattress unlike most mattresses these days that can't be flipped. They can only be rotated.

I'm sure some people will love the memory foam mattress but never again for me. Too hot. Can't be flipped. Becomes indented with body shape.

Brother in law got 4 of these last week from big mickey. 1 king, 1 double and 2 single. I think the king was €350 alone on another web site and he got the 4 mattresses for €450. He said they are good. The kids like the singles also.

A few people have said that the memory foam mattresses become indented with the body shape. Are you 'large' people? I'm only asking because I'm under 12st and herself is less so I'm curious if it's something that only affects the more amply proportioned amongst us.

Considering its a "thing" I assume its a feature of foam mattresses in general. I would also assume that the better quality mattress resist this longer. As would the lighter you are.

    http://blog.us-mattress.com/tag/mattress-indentation/

I'd also assume turning the mattress allows the foam to recover but as the foam ages it will intent quicker when turned back.

I'm 10 and a half stone and I HATE my foam matress. As others have said, it gets lumpy and indented. Avoid.

    Hi there,

It depends on what you are buying really.

Our on line prices for the items that we can get repeats of and that are in most other shops are the cheapest in the country already generally so there may not be much movement on those prices but where you will win big time is when the containers come in for the monthly sale there are always items that will be sold off for like a third of what they are normally.

The web site is only a presence and only represents a fraction of our stock. The best bargains are the ones in the shop and warehouse that never make it on to our web site so you really have to come here to see for yourself. New stock arrives all the time.

    Thanks

We bought one of these, admittedly for our spare room double. But have the previous version that Mickey refers to as our own bed and couldn't recommend highly enough. We have not swapped the two as guests can't be getting the best mattress in the house!

That said we do like memory foam but they are not for everyone and with a bad back it may not suit. I find it firm to sleep on even after three years.

You will not find cheaper and better quality for that price I believe. And a great service to boot, wish there was more like you out there.

    Hope that helps.

I went down to Mick yesterday with my son

I purchased a Mayfair double diamond pocket sprung mattress and a Mayfair double ruby memory foam mattress

I got a great deal and because I bought 2 mattresses Mick threw in free delivery and offered to recycle my old mattresses for free too.

Great customer service, great price and we were treated like royalty by Mick's beautiful daughter Fiona :)

Highly recommended and we will definitely be back when we need more mattresses in the future

    Cheers Mick
