Some great bargains on the site there BigMickey.

Need a new mattress soon... Memory foam seems to be the way to go... Had the old springs for a few too many years now.

    :)

    Mickey,

I have never had a memory foam mattress before, and was wondering are they all listed as a certain firmness rating, or can you get varying levels of firmness with memory foam.

I suffer from the odd bad back and prefer firm mattresses.

Once you get a memoryfoam mattress you won't go back, it'll make hotel stays a nightmare.

By the way, I couldn't recommend BigMickey highly enough, never sells a bad yoke and is fully transparent with all their charges, I don't think I'll ever buy furniture off anyone else again.

They will all vary from model to model and from manufacturer to manufacturer. There are some very high quality ones on the market right down to complete rubbish.

We always say to customers to try before you buy as that is the only way to buy a mattress for your own use. Take your time and don't be in a rush as you may be spending 1/3 of your life on it.

Seen this and just had to stick my twopence worth in....... I suffer with a very bad back and myself and the husband came across bigmickey on here just over 3 yrs ago. Took a drive to his shop in longford (from Dublin) and left with a silentnight memory foam mattress and honestly havnt looked back since! Definitely worth their weight in gold if you suffer with a dodgy back!

Wouldn't really recommend memory phone mattresses. I have one and it now smells like a pair of trainers!

Depends both on the manufacture and the person smelling it best bet is buy a memory foam pillow and see if it bothers you. The stink was why nasa abandoned it my wife can't smell it at all smells really strong to me .. caveat. I don't have normal sense of smell can smell VOCs, tyre rubber, cucumber and all sort of odd thing s in minute quantities. If its really bad then its likely the manufacture process left residual unbound urea in the foam. Can also be the flame retardants that stink.

Just to add I've been to bigmickey and certainly didn't smell any urea from the mattresses we looked at all quality stuff the only reason we didn't get a memory foam mattress was the wife likes her mattress for feel like the floor :(

In 8 years we have never had anyone complain about a smell of any memory mattress that we sold. I have seen quite a few people on boards complaining about smelly memory mattresses that they bought through Groupon. All memory mattresses are not the same. There are memory mattresses from €99 up to thousands like the Harrison brand.

This is Comfort Solutions by King Koil and wasn't bought online.

It was a very pricy mattress at the time.

Can't comment on King Koil as we don't sell them. Did you raise the matter with the shop where you bought it ?

Hey BigMickey do you sell any gel mattresses? Don't fancy memory foam but heard that the gel mattress was the way to go.

It happens from time to time. Your shop should replace it if it's not too long since you bought it. It will be returned to king koil.

Deliery is free when we have other deliveries near you but can send by next day courier (Fastway) for €9 which is subsidised by us.

We were only in Limerick and Cork a few days ago so if needed in a hurry then Fastway might be best.

    Thanks

    Mick

Excuse me for being skeptical bigmick, but if I get a double memory foam delivered for €158, I am not expecting it to be a good quality mattress.

Would I be wrong? It's just too cheap.

If you go back about 4 years ago on here to one of the old threads you will see a large number of positive feeedback about these mattresses. They are called Mattress Now by Silentnight. We sold 800 of them at that stage for €199. No complaints. Obviously if you can afford a higher budget then you will get a better mattress.

Would I be happy to sleep on one of these myself if I had to ? Yes I would and have done so in the past.

Bigmickey.ie have never left a customer stuck with something that did not suit them so if you buy one and you are not happy just send it back (your cost) and we will refund you.

Its a great offer and I am getting tempted to buy my next mattress from your good self.

I would have a bigger budget for a mattress than 150, could you perhaps recommend me one, be it memory foam or springs particularly one that would be firm. Not sure if foam is recommended for people with iffy backs or not, but I could stretch up to €300 for the right mattress.

Where are you based ? If going near you and you can't come to us then we may be able to let you view in advance of purchase.

    Hi again

We have a regular customer that gets stuff in Buncrana and also Letterkenny. Fastway will only take the likes of the roll up Silentnight. They won't take a full size mattress and even if they would it might arrive damaged so can't take the chance. We were in Falcarragh and Carndonagh recently enough. If we got other orders near enough to you then delivery would not be a problem.

    Hi There,

Can you please suggest me a good double bed frame and a mattress please. I am looking to spend around 500 to 600 euro max. Is it really worth to wait till the next sale. What kind of discounts can I expect in the sale.

I am not from this part of the world. So - I don't know much on the wood types. OAK wood is the best I heard. What kind of money should I invest if I need a bed frame with OAK wood. Please advice.

I am based in Arklow in county Wicklow.
