As far as the RX8 is concerned, the government have been screwing those owners from day 1. The Renesis 13B engine has 2 rotors in their housings. Each one has a displacement of 654cc which means that physically, it's a 1.3. The government weren't happy that it was putting out so much power despite it being a totally different thing to a normal engine so that's why they're taxed "in the middle" as 1.8.

It's basically a situation where they change the rules they set in order to suit themselves and give two fingers to motorists.

Actually government's taxation idea (in terms of RX8) is somehow weird anyway. :o

Was there something about the RX8 engine having 2 power strokes per cycle and that's why it came out as a 1.8, cause the displacement if measured over a full cycle? Could've sworn I read that somewhere but it could be a load of ****e. I was looking for quotes for insurance on an 8 a few years back and when youre filling in the car details section it was showing as a 2.6 litre FFS, the irish motorist getting bent over and ****ed as per usual

I remember chatting to some RX8 heads at a Midway meet a long time ago who said it was possible to register the RX8 correctly after jumping through a lot of hoops with the motor tax office. I seem to remember the guy saying that it was far from an easy process.

tbf the RX8 has a sky high Co2 of over 280 g/km. Even my Manual Lexus is very bad but not that high.

We're talking cc based tax so it doesn't come into play.
The government just upped there tax for them with no reasoning other than that 2 power stroke nonsense!

in the uk Co2 is the bench mark for car tax, I would say its a bench mark in many countries. I get what you say about the cc, but its still brutal on economy and has massive emissions/burns oil. Owners of them cars can't be too surprised to see they are shafted.

doubt your e36 had a rear electric blind or adaptive HID lights with washers, or heat and cool leather.

    nor smart entry/ keyless go.?
    .

All factory Xenon lights have washers, i had a 2003 Bora with both and automatic wipers, auto dimming mirrors, heated seats... and keyless entry when i left it unlocked :)

Regardless of emissions if this was the uk you would be paying half the cc rate regardless.

    But its not.

Hate the irish attitude of "Shurre what would ya be needing that for" to justify screwing people.

Yet its ok to get pissed every weekend because thats our culture.

It felt very fragile, the electric steering was horrible and it just wasn't a nice car to drive.

I fail to see what a rotary coupe has to do with a 6 cylinder saloon though.

    Seriously Tossy, don't bother.
Here's my wife's pile of ****e, Italian rust bucket, unreliable pile of misery.

Oh and in case my sarcasm isn't clear then it's a fantastic car which has never put a foot wrong, not an inch of rust and a fairly quick car.
130 horses and shag all turbo lag.

It goes back and forth, hence why it stayed on PL plates. Thought it would be pretty uncomfortable having it in Ireland but the misses handles it well.
Have a tag so she doesn't need to stop at tolls.
Now it's in PL with me, the wife and baby :)
I'd list the spec but feck all point :P

Its a nice motor indeed, no idea why he used a M5 engine though. My own thoughts are more along the lines of why put a 2.0 turbo diesel into a car that nice. It's only in Ireland people buy diesel everything. I have seen some 4 series BMWs at work and they are petrols and indeed they are great looking cars.

Ah no Dougal I didnt transplant a m5 engine into a 420d, I was just proving my car history because I feel so inadequate, childish I know.

The 20d engine is actually the most popular in the 4 series range in Britain as well as Ireland. Maybe its because its cheap run, has more torque than a e46 m3 or an is250 which means stronger in gear performance at low revs, which is most suited to mixed driving. They are geared for motorway speeds, and in real life it has all the performance of the m5 in and around the speed limit. Does 40+ Mpg too. A modern diesel is surprising (certainly was for me driving the 20d with the 8 speed auto), and I am a real petrol head, not just a chap that has bought my first car with a engine over 1ltr.

Now a 435i like the one you see in your work, would be nice....I should know here is my old 335i, that was a good engine aright.
    HDR2.jpg

was not as smooth as the v8 in my old 6 series mind you,

I can play this game all day.....mods forgive me.
