LuckyDude before you go traipsing through the Bible, and looking for a needle in a haystack is what you'd really be doing there, trying to rediscover your faith by reading through whole tomes, I'd suggest you start with the Beatitudes. Forget about the commandments, well, not "forget" about them but put them aside for now, as they're just common sense really, but the Beatitudes are a much better guide for living your life as a Christian and in particular, certainly in my case anyway, as a Roman Catholic -

I will say too that when you find something tedious - stop doing it. There are many, many ways in which you can indulge your faith without feeling you have to prove anything, to anyone. In my opinion at least, a person's faith is deeply personal to them and them alone, and what's most important is what their faith means to them, not to anyone else.

I have many, many times questioned my faith btw, and I've researched other religions (and none) and I've found that has actually strengthened my faith. They just weren't something I could personally identify with, though I do attend a Pentecostal service after mass on Sunday and they really do know how to rock the joint, worth attending just for the experience alone! :D

I can say that were it not for my faith, and were it not for my continued questioning of my faith, I wouldn't be here today. One of the things I constantly have to remind myself of is that I don't get to choose when I go. It's simply not my place, so I make the most of life while I'm here.

I believe i'm kind of losing my connection with God, my family is from a strong christian background and seemed to see my interest and focus seems to be disappearing especially during mass. I'm trying to find a resource on the web to spark my interest with Jesus again, can anyone recommend me a website aimed for teens please and God bless you!

If you are loosing faith because you have questions which you can't nave sense of, go to bethinking.org right now!!! :-)

    Are you 18 op?
Have you considered simply not going to mass with your family.
I remember when I went to mass to conform with ideals despite being atheist.

It's hard to go against your parents but I would consider skipping a week and seeing how nothing will change.

Instead of just digging your heels in I would recommend that you look into why you have hit this little bump in the road. Everyone who has believed has hit a bumpy patch at some point and it can lead in all sorts of directions, you may restore your faith, you may find the light in a different religion or belief, or you may lose your faith completely.

Although some of those options may sound a little scary, it's better than just trying to mask your own doubts behind other people's reasons for believing.

Consider yourself liberated OP. Ignore the brainwashed loons and get on with your life. You only get one.

    MOD NOTE

Referring to Christians as 'brainwashed loons' is not appropriate language for this forum.

Please bear this in mind in any future postings.

To be fair this thread is titled "Young Teenager Losing Faith" so I think people who went through similar experiences (like many non believers) have a valuable input here. Also he never stressed that non believers opinions wouldn't be considered in his origional post so it could have been easily missed.

Also you should always welcome other people's opinions anyway, you don't have to take them on board but surely closing yourself off completely to the views of other people without even considering them isn't a healthy or constructive attitude to have in life.

And it helps to know what the posters view actually are, when reading their "advice"

I agree, and I said I didn't believe in God in my first post in this thread as well, I made that clear right from the off, not really sure what you're getting at here?

OP, this is aimed at people who are a little older than you, but some of the suggestion in it might be helpful for you: www.nickalexander.com/2015/05/22/faithful-catholic-in-your-20s

I'm a young teen and a proud christian.

Please be advised i will not take any advice from non christians on this thread as i don't feel it has anything positive towards me although i do appreciate your views!

It's just my life isn't going the way it wants to be and i believe theres a holy spirit out there that can help me during these hard times!

I'm a non-believer, so you may not take my advice, so apologies if this is useless to you.

Perhaps speak to your local priest, if you know him from mass. Ask for ways to become more involved in your church, and chat to him about your beliefs and see what he can advise.

..and not a hope joining a new church if you meant protestant no, going to remain in my own parish :)

Ah go on, come over to the dark side.

In fairness, what else would you expect from Christians?

    Ouch! :pac:

I think it has more to do with the way some people are so insistent on putting their point across tbh.

The OP asked for advice in the Christianity forum about resources to spark his interest in Jesus again -

And Huntergonzo was in like a shot with this beauty -

You could come over to the dark side and stop believing in God like I did when I was in my mid teens. Basically everything stays the same except you don't get the feeling that someone is always watching and judging you.

If I were the OP and I was looking for advice in the Christianity forum, and someone swooped in and didn't even care to read what I was asking in the OP, and instead chose to try and convert me, well, I'd be telling them get knotted and all tbh.

There's only one person being ignorant there in that scenario, and it isn't the person who didn't try to convert anyone without caring enough to understand that person's point of view first and what they were actually asking for.

Attempting to convert someone like that is just the height of arrogance, and they should rightly be told to naff off.

Here's an idea - how about you don't concern yourself with how I live my life, and I'll try really, really, really hard not to concern myself with how you live your life?

Certainly works for me, how about you? :)
