People are discussing this like it actually means anything. An award given by a sports channel is completely meaningless, as are whatever reasons behind who was chosen.

Obama is one of the least controversial recipients of it. One could argue that special interests have been motivating the nobel award for the best part of a century, and Obama's is nothing new.

But Obama stands out for two significant reasons. Firstly, his arse had barely warmed the seat in the oval Office and he got an award for nothing. And secondly, no recipient has ever spewed as much hypocritical horseshít about peace, hope, change and the rest of his usual nonsense.

Wish Bruce Jenner would go away. Too much about him already.

    Bruce is no more

I don't care and maybe everyone else shouldn't either? It's someone who won a something award. Not remotely important in the grand scheme of it all.

Then again it was a RTA involving multiple vehicles

It was compounded by Jenner though. The vehicles in front of Jenner had to brake suddenly, Jenner was texting and didn't realise this and thus collided into the vehicle in front. He/she is responsible.

actually, jenner was cleared because she wasnt texting, on a call, drunk or high. they had nothing on her. there were multiple cars involved, and the only one of the drivers to be found breaking a law was the driver of the car who was killed. they had a suspended licence at the time for a previous speeding offence.
jenner was cleared because they didnt cause the crash, hence they are NOT responsible for killing someone.

but i suppose, you wouldnt have been able to argue with people then would you?

The suspended license didn't kill her though, Jenner's ineptitude did. He was papped texting approx ten seconds before the crash, but not at the exact (estimated) time of the crash. He was incompetent, and the way he has acted subsequent to that is disgusting, denying all responsibility and making out that because she (the deceased) had a suspended licence she is responsible for her own death. If her license was never suspended she would still be dead now.

Why didnt they give him a made up award?

Special Achievement award would be appropriate.

Authorities said he wasn't texting or using his phone at the time that's last I heard .again it was a simple RTA but he/she's entitled to a trial first before been found guilty

How does one get a trial for a rigged award ceremony. TBH a lot of them are rigged. I bet some people think xfactor is real.

Probably not enough publicity in it for all concerned. They wanted the main prize and nothing less.

Whatever your opinions on the whole transgender issue, this is utterly pathetic. Although not entirely surprising, considering the mentality of the Jenner and Kardashian clan.

Yes, it was a big personal change for Jenner. But to suggest this was somehow deserving of a bravery award is a farce, an embarrassment, and a disgusting and sneaky thing to do by Caitlyn and her PR people.

They basically hijacked a bravery award for personal gain and publicity.

Now I know there will be those who consider any criticism of transgender people here as transphobic, but this is beyond the pale in my opinion. And fwiw, I would consider myself a supporter of equality. What I don't support is people hijacking legitimate causes for their own agenda.

Previous winners of the Arthur Ashe courage award include Nelson Mandela, Muhammad Ali, Pat and Kevin Tillmann, and the passengers of Flight 93 on 9/11:

Do you ever get the feeling you've been had?
    .

Given previous recipients of the award, it makes no sense to give it to jenner. Give it to somebody who transitioned working on an average wage in some factory that they'd been in for 20 years and I could understand it.

Jenner was not cleared of fault and did cause the crash. A charge of vehicular manslaughter is expected.

Absolutely, made up awards and titles are what get the insecure and stupid out of bed in the morning.

I suggest 'Team Leader of The Kardashians'.

As a matter of interest, can anyone name any past winners of the "bravery award"?

Without the help of Google obviously....

Interestingly, twitter and instagram decided to censor Caitlyn Jenner posts, so that only positive feeds showed up. Any criticism was dismissed as 'hate'. Now, some of the tweets and comments did stray into abuse, there's no doubt about that. But to write off all criticism is blatant censorship, and it's a very troubling and dangerous precedent to be setting.

But then again, money talks, and I'm sure a few million was paid so that this stage managed tabloid trash juggernaut was allowed to plow through uninterrupted....

In a word, marketing. We live in an era where you don't need a skill or talent to be famous. But you do need to be able to create a brand, and a total absence of morality or class is crucial. Ordinary, balanced people simply don't pimp their daughters sex tape for profit.

Max Clifford often boasted that he could take any ordinary Joe Soap and make them famous, they didn't need a talent. He also revealed that 90% of the stories in the paper were plants or set ups, with the approval of the celebrity AND the paper. That Louis Theroux documentary on him is well worth watching.

All the world's a stage now....

For fecks sake they gave it to pat tillman who's only claim to fame is joining the army post 911 and getting shot and killed by his own unit

You can't see anything wrong with someone bribing their way to an award, knowing full well that they intend to profit from the publicity, at the expense of more deserving candidates? It's just about the polar opposite of what we base our value system on.

As for Tillman, well the fact that he gave up a lucrative multi-million dollar career to pursue something that he believed in was a massive display of character, although he didn't need to preach to the world and make a reality tv show about his particular personal choice. He just got on with it, quietly and professionally. So that is more a claim to fame, if I can loosely use that phrase, than dying in a tragic friendly fire accident.

Maybe not to the extent of winning the Arthur Ashe courage award it might be argued, but sure as hell more deserving that Caitlyn Jenner if we're talking about merit here.

Prove the bribery with fact or you going by what some gossip rag said .

Plenty actually thousands did exactly what tillman did and didn't receive a silver star or have fake stories of valour and bravery repeatedly posted (many lost there lives and limbs buy hey who wants to hear about the average Joe ) but hey who needs truth when it comes to celebrity bashing
