Ive noticed that girls who are tall think theyre much taller than they are. In my group of friends theres 3 girls who are quite tall, theyre all 5'8'' or thereabouts. Anyway Im about 5'9'', theres another guy in my group the exact same height as me. Anyway these girls always make jokes about us being small and them being taller than us, one of the girls guessed she was 'about 2 maybe 3 inches taller' than us.

But there was this health checker thing majigger at college one day as part of health week and it measured your body fat. muscle tone etc and they took our height readings and the 3 girls were shocked to find that us two lads were nearly 2 inches taller than them,

So lads if a girl says she'll date a guy the same height as her she probably means she will date a guy 2-3 inches taller than her.

I've never been attracted to to guy who is smaller than me, I'm 5'9 and a half so It's been a bit of a pain ;) Same height is ok. It's not a deliberate "I don't fancy short guys thing" I've just yet to fancy a man who is shorter than me.
Sure It's just a preference, we all have them.

It's a disgrace of Joe-duffy-esque proportions that this hasn't yet featured in the thread.

i think the power of the unconscious in deciding cannot be under estimated. a woman may reject a small man consciously because they dont click or something else, when unconsciously she was not impressed by his lack of height.

when you make a decision to buy a product or a new car lets say, a large proportion of that decision process was unconscious. so you may look at a certain brand of coffee and choose it because it was a low price, when unconsciously you tabulated that it was a nice brand, in date, large size etc.

when you watch a film or go on a date, your unconscious mind is taking in far more about the environment than your conscious. and it influences your conscious decision. lack of height would be a negative, but the guy might have other elements of his projection that are good.

i think there comes a point when small is just too small. i wouldnt consider 5,7 or 5,8 small. you are maybe not as tall as other guys, but i dont think a woman would mind that height. ive seen guys that were 5,2 or 5,3, thats small.

Nope, really fussy on that. I'm quite short anyway so I'm sure any guy shorter than me would be a definate no.

I think you'll find it depends very much on the woman.

In the same way that many men wouldn't date a girl who was wider than them. I would. But that's because I like massive arses.

If the guy is sound, a good match and doesn't mind their significant other wearing heels when they are out, then it wouldnt bother me!

I feel bad for short men but I suppose it's the same for men and fat women, I mean over a size 10 and they are not really getting a look in at all.

Yeah, Robert Downey Jr has it rough, I feel bad for the guy.

Have done a few times, never got the whole big deal about it. I'm 5'8" so there are plenty men around the place shorter than me, honestly if I was coming up with a list of things I find physically attractive in men height wouldn't come into it

So even someone a small size 12 can't get laid? Stupid comment. 14-16 is an average size for women and I was specifically told that by a modelling agency. The guys on here haven't a clue about women with statements like this.

As a neutral observer, I'd fear it'd only make his small man syndrome worse.

Robert Downey may have drank excessively, taken a heroic amount of cocaine, dropped books of acid, smoked Kingston dry and employed his own pharmacist but there is absolutely no evidence to suggest he took steroids

I've noticed this too actually. I met a lot of girls on Model Mayhem who had their height listed as 5'9" or 5'10" yet when I met them in person they were no taller than me, I'm 5'8". I think some of them were measuring themselves while wearing heels.

Really? A size 12 is hardly a fatty.

Average is a relative term so is completely meaningless in this context.

If obesity rates keep going in their current direction the average dress size for an Irish woman will probably be closer to 18/20 in a few years. That doesn't mean that being that size is going to be seen as any more attractive than it currently is, it just means that we as a nation are getting fatter.

I just looked at the tag on my jeans to see what my waist size was, turns out I've been wearing women's jeans, not sure how that happened, they're not skinny jeans. What's the difference?

    I'm 5'3", so no, I wouldn't.
I'm not keen on the dwarf look.

She's British and she spoke in terms of Europe. 18 is not average, go into any shop and all the 12,14 are gone straight away. It's been like that for 15 years so I see no change really.

Okay. Who suggested he took steroids? Because I didn't.

    I has the confuse.

Out of 20 women that I work, everyone is between 8 - 12 I'd imagine

That's unusual. I'm not an expert. I'm only going by what I was told.

I can't tell these things. I can tell you that one person is bigger than another if they're both in the room and near each other. I can also tell if someone is smaller or bigger than I am, but seeing as I can't remember my own height, weight or waist size it's not the most useful comparison.

This basically, only I'm female. It wasn't a typo.

I'm pretty good at estimating these things and wouldn't say so if I wasn't pretty sure :-) I don't think there's any small enough to be a 6, and there might be a small number of 14s, but majority fall into the 8/10/12 category

Are you in your 20s because women get heavier with age.
