This is amazing Tommy, how did you do it? I've always admired people who are good with their hands.

Thanks I didn't keep pics of the process unfortunately. I'm off to a wedding tonight, congrats Maria and Paul :-) but I'll post a recap tomorrow.
In other words I'll try to find the YouTube videos I copied from.

Picked up a Rechargeable LED Working Light from Lidl today, it was from an offer a few weeks back and I'd left it because I didn't really have the money. Anyway they still had them today and I did have some money.

    03673711e0e505ead2edd5f757e68db0b94dcc12.jpg

LED is rated at 8.5 Watts
Run time from full charge is supposed to be 3 hours
Recharge time 6 hours (has a built in LED red when charging, green when charged, flashing red when in use battery low)
Li-ion 7.4 Volt/5.2 Ah sounds about right for 3 hour running claims and should hold charge for a decent length of time
12/24V lighter charging lead & mains charging lead, handy to charge it from a car battery
Battery and LED are not replaceable

Seems nice and solid and produces plenty of light would certainly light up a large room if the power went out and handy for changing a tyre or working on an engine in the dark.

For the time being I'll keep it hung up in my workshop while I think about finding a better home for it. I doubt it will get a huge amount of use so needs to be put somewhere I won't forget about it otherwise it will discharge and be useless when its needed most.

I didn't post this as a bargain alert as the cost was €35 which I think is a tad on the expensive side but has a 3 year warrantee so I've kept the receipt and won't fail to get it repaired or my money back if it fails in that time.

Yes, first thing I tried in the car when I got out the shop with it.

EDIT> Only thing is I can't be sure its charging while its working? I've just plugged it into a little unit that measures its power usage and power used remains the same with the light on and off so maybe its not actually charging?

The OH is purchasing a hybrid car, so I have been looking into ways to make biodiesel. I've been wanting to do this for some time ever since a kind family friend donated a diesel generator to the plot of land I have pegged out for my bug out location.

Ordered some methanol and potassium hydroxide to try to make my first batch.. economically it's not viable in these quantities, I am also concerned that when the SHTF supplies of vegetable oil and industrial alcohol may not be available but it's a start...! :)

What vehicle are you looking at? Newer cars arent mad on biodiesel/veg fuel

2004 Toyota Yaris... apparently the incompatibility between newer cars and biodiesel has been somewhat overstated... perhaps a discussion for another time!

over the past few months i have been doing bits and pieces but havent documented them. at the moment i now have

Massey Ferguson 135 tractor being restored. Engine is out to be reconditioned at the moment. Is a replacement for the current ford 4000 we own which i dont rate at all.
Mk1 Mitsubishi pajero being restored. (doesnt need much work now).
a 12ft fishing boat with trailer for lake use.
Rock Rider Mountain bike with 29 inch wheels etc. (bought off a guy in work who had spent a fortune on it but never used it).

I also have a pet lamb at home which my cousin is rearing ( we have two lambs, i supply the milk replacer and he rears both of them)

Sort of a bargain alert but its actually what I did to prepare today + I think by the time you read this the sale is over (check Dunnes.ie if your interested). Bought, underwear, socks and cheap light weight trainers in Dunnes 20% off sale for my BOB. - Yep Boring but has to be done.

Bought a driving harmess for the horse abd also a horsedrawn grubber for tilling the garden

Picked up another item for the BOBs. They have a good selection of stuff but I have a bit of room for a change of cloths so I'm getting good brand name stuff from charity shops. Today I picked up a really nice Lowe Alpine fleece for a fiver that will get a wash and then go away in my wifes BOB.

My darling girl unrolled our collection of bacofoil by accident, so today she's going to Dealz, I asked her to get 25 rolls or around 625 metres of tinfoil. Very useful to have but when it's gone, it's gone!

Depending on how you use it then it might be worth getting some more expensive thicker foil. For home use in an oven you can use the thinnest foil which at €1.49 a roll I'd guess thats what you get in Dealz but you might want to test how well it holds up on an open fire or hot BBQ.

Good idea my3cents, it was Dealz she went to... I suppose you could double up but that's a waste of foil. We might have to have a BBQ to test it out... don't you agree that's the best way...? Ribs! :-D

Well if you want an excuse for a BBQ :D But we could do with some decent weather first, I'm drowning here.

Yeah it's torrential here too, then again if we're employing good OPSEC we shouldn't talk about the weather in case someone pins us down to somewhere within Ireland where the weather is wet... Hm, on second thoughts we're safe enough... we'll have to do them on the grill! :-D
