I don't know this procedure well but have read about it. Entails breaking the bones and adding pins, encouraging the bones to stretch and at certain intervals pulling the pins slightly further and further so the bones can grow. I am cringing typing this....

Well that sounds painful but he's suicidal over his height so if it solves it then maybe it's worth it.

A friend of mine is 5,5 and is getting an operation that will add two-three inches. It's sad when it comes to this.

    That sounds higly dodgy.

If he must then suggest he puts raises in his shoes and boots like Tom Cruise.

I'm not saying I agree with it.

Shame on the 7 girls who chose the "Would depend on his wealth/social status" option.

I should have made this a public poll :P

My boyfriend is probably only a couple of inches taller than me. I have been with tall fellas before but with him it just feels right. I like being at eye level with him with no effort.

Shoes and posture make a huge difference to height I find.

I'd ride you into next week, ya sexy b@stard. ;)

Jaysis, and I've the saddle and all!

I've been involved with women taller and smaller than me. It never seemed to be a problem for either side.

It's already been mentioned but we all have preferences. Women that fell outside of my perceived "preference" have always been the ones that held my interest more.

This leads me to believe that I actually only have a "preference" because society has drilled it into me.

To be honest, personality far outweighs looks for me. Obviously the physical attraction needs to be there but if there's nothing to back it up, you might as well have a really, really, really good looking cardboard cut out to drag along with you.

Height wise, unless it was outlandishly comical looking, I don't think I would lose a partner because of it. I'm 5ft 7, so I think a bracket of 4ft 11 to 5ft 11 is an "acceptable" and "normal" range for me. Anything either side of that, then im not sure but I wouldn't discount it before meeting them.

I think it's harsh to write somebody off because of their height. There is absolutely nothing they can do about it yet it seems ok to do so.

However, if you were to reject somebody because of their weight, something which in the vast majority of cases people have total control of, you will be called very shallow. Doesn't make sense.

What about the hung like a baboon option on the poll?

In fairness though I know plenty of lads who reject certain girls because of their social standing.

Baboons aren't very well endowed. Humans have the biggest penis to body size ratio of any primate.

It's possible a few guys with a particular axe to grind might have voted for that option. They aren't unheard of on this forum.

Even if it was women there's nothing wrong with it IMHO. I think attraction is like a calculation. We add and subtract points based on various criteria.

True in many ways, but there are those who want to believe it's the only criteria for many, if not most, women.

Shur just look at the other thread started by the person who is unhappy with how he looks - a bunch of such comments, and an opportunity to take an auld swipe at the women. :)

I didn't read that thread, I knew it'd probably go that way though. :(

When you filter out that spitefulness, it's actually a really good thread - some very interesting points. Have a read, and ignore those posts - most people are ignoring them anyway. :)

I personally don't believe that it's the only criteria for anyone. In fact I think confidence supersedes height ect. I was friends with a girl who was about 5'9 and only liked dating men over 6 foot. I'm 5'11 and she said she eventually fell for my confidence and personality. If I started getting low self esteem about a certain aspect of my character then that would be more unattractive than any feature I have IMHO.

I'm an overweight woman (although I've lost 22lbs in the last six weeks and am continuing to lose :) ) and no it's not wrong. Whether we admit it or not, physical attraction is important. Yes, personality matters a LOT, but you can't fcuk it.

    Congrats, that's a fantastic achievement :)

Actually most are, they don't let themselves go too fat 150lbs is hitting upper level chubby on most avg height women.

What's average height that you are using for that statement?

Oh is the same height as me in barefeet, so if we go out and I've heels on he's always shorter :)

Personality conquers almost all. I say almost because there are some traits people can have that no amount of personality can compensate for, like a disregard for personal hygiene, for example.

Looks always fade, it's what you have after that that counts for the majority of one's adult life. Intelligence, kindness, humour and curiosity are worth more than any height advantage or a six pack when it comes to lasting and meaningful connections with people.

I only became conscious of my height when I started online dating. Reading a lot of women's profiles can be rather depressing. In the real world it hasn't been much of an issue, although women wouldn't really say it to your face that you're too short, or at least it hasn't happened to me anyway.

I have come across girls 5'0" to 5'3" who were insistent that they wouldn't date a guy less than 6 foot tall. Of course, that was their prerogative. However when they had no suitors of that height, they changed their mind quick enough
