If you take this to its logical conclusion (a big stretch for Liveline, I know), who decided that the Limerick/Clare border is where it is, and why wasn't it 10 miles away, or 100 yards away.

My father's home address was in Mayo, but postal address in Sligo. What's the big deal?

Is there anything this Government can do properly, apart from fcuking everything up?

Paying themselves and associates they can sort that fairly rapid

They're pretty good at increasing their pension pots.

We'd be on the wrong place on the map with this system.

Governments and IT projects are not natural bedfellows, apart from lining pockets - they're pretty good at that.

What happens if you order from overseas, those companies are unlikely to want to pay €30k a year to get some codes?

They're pretty good at increasing their pension pots.

Not just their pension pots but those of hundreds of thousands of civil servants too.

It's actually Windsor Castle from the sky and an angle it's not normally photographed from. It is open to the public but even in the summer they close at around 5/5:30 so be warned (I learned this to my cost). Windsor is about 20mins (max) in a taxi from Heathrow and there's public transport too from the airport if required. As castles go, it's right up there with any I've visited. See Meathlass, we have so much in common…...;):D

Why is he saying eircode won't help someone who is lost? Sure that's not what is for

If it worked it would be. Picture the scene:

"OK, go down the road to ABC311 and turn left. When you come to CAK451, turn right and it is on your left, just across from DCF819."

It always struck me as a bit close to the common herd on the doorstep, that place. :)

If you can't use google maps with the system then its used.

Btw the eircode for Coppers is very good. Somebody clearly took the piss out of Coppers with it.

Am missing some of this discussion as work keeps getting in the way
What happens with these post codes - do you just put the postcode on the letter and leave out the address, or put the address plus the postcode on the letter

What does it matter about the postcode if the postman knows where you live
