    Some of those comments are overly harsh. There are different disciplines in this game. It's not just about striking.

    There are plenty of fighters out there who spend 15 minutes of every fight in the clinch. If he wants to be successful, thats what he needs to do.

    It's not like it's only one poor fight for pendred, all his fights are terrible. the only moments of excitement in his fights have been when he was getting mauled!

    Shields lost fights..if Pendred won tonight he would be the first fighter to ever have won 5 fights in the space of a year. Exciting or not that would have been some achievement. Him still being in the UFC has nothing to do with McGregor, stupid statement..he is there and will be dropped on his own merits if/when the time comes, not on those of another fighter.

    He's only 27 and with a good record in the UFC he will be around for a bit, his fights do tend to be a slog. Hopefully he can find a way to limit the damage he is currently taking.. it's not good.

    I have been trying to like watching Cathal fight but at this stage to is impossible. Look at the speed difference in the striking in this fight.

    Cathal strikes like a guy with severe arthritis. My grandad looks silky smooth a ultra fast at striking compared to Cathal.

    But sometimes its best to say nothing at all if you cannot say something nice so i a finished with my comments on cathal. Simply hope he does not take too much damage in future due to over reliance on his chin

    For all the criticism, no matter how true, of Pendred I didn't think Howard was going to knock him out but I did think Pendred might submit him.

    Funny fight really as one guy wanted to bring it down and the other keep it up. The guy who who wanted to keep it up did a better job at keeping it up and got the win.

    Shields got cut becuase of his style. I would say the UFC are only looking for an excuse to cut him at this stage. To say McGregor has nothing to do with Cathal staying in the UFC would be naive.

    If they can cut Jon Fitch for basically being boring, then they can drop Pendred whenever they want. Won't happen anytime soon though.
