The race sounds like a lot of fun .. and the sub-25 can't be far away.
aquinn can always be called out for two separate parkruns pacing I am sure!

    Options are:

    A) the girls have invented a time travel device to allow aquinn to move between timelines assisting us both. Risky. She could be spotted. Plus the girls should do something better with their time machine.
    B) aquinn is actually superwoman and can move so quick it's possible and we can't distinguish it or move the axis of the planet to assist. Possible. The woman seems to fit a lot in.
    C) I'll be told I'm going for sub 25 but will be sprung on the day that we're all going together and I've been bundled into the sub 24 pacing as a sneaky tactic. Will be shouted at....I mean encouraged to complete. Far more likely. Will avoid all talk of future D3 outings.

Hmmm A) is risky because if Laura runs faster than target pace aquinn may catch up with her other self, thus creating a paradox and jeopardising the future of the entire planet, B) not doubting any of this C) It's certainly possible. Poor Anna only wanted a sub 25 and got a lot closer to 24 than she had bargained for.

:pac: LMAO here... i look away for a minute and aquinn is all set to break the prime directive! (BG is obviously a trekkie based on A above).

Laura, you are being set up... you will find yourself sucked into the aquinn vortex of positivity... it's like a black hole... and you'll emerge with a sub-24 that you didn't even know you wanted :D

...although the thought of aquinn meeting her other self somewhere on the avenue at St Anne's is actually hilarious... the two aquinns could encourage each other into a whole other dimension... :pac:

Well that would be more a violation of the temporal prime directive :) all joking aside, I'd love a sub 24. Some day soon hopefully!

I think our training is a just a constant cycle of us swapping pb leads on different distances! Race off at a raheny 2 miler some evening :)

Firedance - Anna and BG have decided that aquinn can pace me to my sub 25, and apparently drag Anna to her sub 24. The same race as well just to save on time :D

***Now***, time travel or any such phenomena are not the real question .... real question is - has Anna got permission from meno for 2 "hard runs" in the one week? I can see why this is being kept on the down-low...

(hope no-one can feel any lingering resentment about a de-intensified marathon plan)

Ha. I'd suspect Anna will edge it. But it would be entertaining and probably push us both on.

At this stage (aside from the very real time travel concept. Obviously) it's all purely hypothetical. I have a wedding this Friday evening so am unlikely to be anywhere near a park run this week!!

You'll be supporting a local community event. It would be rude not to go. We'll keep it on the down low for you and move it off log to text to arrange at some stage. They're running for a few weeks - it can be a BG inspired stealth race :)

That might include the downhill section Laura, she's just messing with your head to gain psychological advantage :D

I think it'll be pretty close actually. I might start a wager ;)

This is true. I'm going to highlight my own edit to my race report....official time 15.51. An extra second gained there....I'll take it :)

I will because I've never run a 2 miler! God knows how reliable that strava thingy is...

Here, Laura, what happened to the we'll help each other along the way... we should be crossing the line hand in hand....

...if I can't beat you that is....

Ah we are helping eachother! We're tackling similar goals, working towards similar pbs, worked together well in terenure to push each other on, lots of encouragement.

But if having someone else to race (even lose to!) in another one helps me get more time off my new 2 mile time I will selfishly embrace a bit of competition :)

    Wednesday 1st: Football

Legs were tired after the 2 miler the evening before, could feel it during the day and at football. Did one half in goal though so wasn't too bad.

    Thursday 2nd: Rest

Took my rest day today to rest the legs a bit and took the chance to do a few bits

    Friday 3rd: 4.4 miles @ 10:04, average HR 157bpm

Run into work. Had planned a small bit more but hitting the snooze button a couple of times too many, forgetting I still had to iron my blouse and take washing out of the machine meant I was a bit tight for time  No time to string it out, this was all I could fit in! When I left the house there was some fog on the coast still. All of sudden I felt very warm, and realised I was sweating alot - within the space of about two minutes the fog had lifted completely and the sun was strong. And it was only 8am! I stuck to the shade where possible and slowed it down and made sure the HR didn't wander. A wedding party then after work so plenty of running-centric activities - weights (pint lifting), hydration (pint drinking), cross training (lots and lots of dancing) and conditioning (heels)!!

    Saturday 4th: 6 miles @ 10:23

Feeling ok, just a bit tired so kept this nice and easy by the time I went out. Left the HR strap at home, I've found any sort of a hangover can cause it to spike a bit so just ran completely by feel. Very windy.

    Sunday 5th: 8.6 miles @ 9:53

I felt great on this, really fresh and strong. The rain in the morning and the thunderstorms had cleared the mugginess so it was much cooler out and little wind, perfect conditions. The heart rate was fine for the first two thirds of the run and then seemed to go wonky, so I just ignored it and went by feel. Until then it was averaging about 152bpm. I probably need to tighten the strap again. The route I chose had some flat parts along the coast and then some undulations so the pace varied alot on different miles. The effort felt consistent throughout though and my breathing was fine, I felt my form was ok even towards the end and hadn't fatigued. A good one to have done.

So 30 miles done for the week. I counted the Raheny 2 mile race as my speedwork for the week, it seemed a good substitute. The heel niggle I've had for a couple of weeks hasn't gone away, even after the few rest days, it crept back in. It's not really getting any worse and it's not stopping me from doing anything but it's not going away either so time to get it checked out instead of just managing it. Have a PT session booked for tomorrow. John Carter is on the TV in the background as I've been writing this and updating my Garmin.....possibly the worst film I've ever seen.

Tuesday 30th: Raheny Shamrocks Lord Mayor Series Round 3: 2 miles

I'd heard good things about these races hosted by Raheny but couldn't make the winter ones due to football on Wednesdays. After HelenAnne had told me the summer ones were a Tuesday I was determined to head down. 2 mile warm up jog to the clubhouse to register - despite the fact I'm from nearby and have spent much much time in Raheny in my life, I never knew where the clubhouse was. Did another 1 mile recce of the course, with some strides and met a couple of people. The OH had come along to watch so I saw him, met Mrs Mc from around here, a quick chat with her, lined up towards the back and we were off with no fuss. I felt myself haring off so slowed down and let one big group pull away. I settled in with a few around me, just on the shoulder of one girl. She seemed to be breathing heavier than me and I still felt I was going a bit too hot so let her move off, but I was hoping I'd see her again. I didn't know what to expect from this. I was hoping for 15:xx but my main aim was to have a stronger finish than I felt I had in recent races and not go out too fast. But I know in such a short distance you should be going at a good pelt from the off so I wanted to try get that balance and I had hoped the good warm up would have helped with that. About a half mile in I got a stitch again - I don't think these evening races agree with me  Not too bad though and I saw on the watch my pace had slowed to nearly 8 m/m. Myself, my shoulder friend and one man were close enough together for most of the first mile with me at the back. Going around the last turn before heading to the halfway mark I went past the two of them and went out in front. Neither of them came back but I wasn't sure if there biding their time. Got a shout out from the OH and the first mile beeped at 8:01. The lady calling the times called 7:57 as I went past her so I was in or around where I needed to be.

Starting the second lap I was quite isolated. Neither of my first lap crowd seemed alongside me and the only person anywhere near up ahead was a good bit away. I concentrated on myself (breathing, does anything hurt, ah sure less than a mile, it'll be over soon) and slowly but surely I noticed I was closing on her. The start of the mile is a long enough stretch so by the time it ended and we took the first turn to start the loop around I felt I had caught up enough to make overtaking a reasonable prospect. I tried not to burst up but trust that I was ticking slightly faster to be confident of a gradual movement. I could see a person shadow from the sun behind (no, not mine - another one :D) so I knew someone was close behind me. I glanced once to see if it was either of my previous companions but I couldn't tell. I tried to pick it up a small bit to shake them off if it was someone working to overtake me. Coming near the last bend somewhere (a bit before, I think, it's a blur) I went past my target. I wanted to pick it up for the finish but I wasn't sure of how soon to go. Had pulled away a bit here and got some good shout outs here of encouragement from strangers and one person I knew. I was closing in on the finish when all of a sudden I hear a supporter on the sideline say "go on X, you can catch her" or something to that effect. There was a moment of brain freeze before I realised I was the target again and I was being closed on in the chase. I must have had a wild look of panic on my face as I glanced over my shoulder to see where she was (I heard the OH actually laugh as he saw and heard the penny drop quite loudly in my head). I tried to get the burners on as I encouraged myself with a "she's not catching me". In fact there may have been an expletive in there. All obviously directed completely at myself like a loon. Over the finish line, a moment to compose myself before making sure I turned to find my chaser and congratulate her on the race and share one or two words. Second mile was 7:50. Caught Mrs Mc crossing the line shortly after before doing another 1 mile cool down and up to the clubhouse for a quick cuppa and a chat before heading home to throw the dinner I'd already made (polishes halo) in the microwave. Great evening out for a a bargain of E7 and I can't wait to go again :D Garmin came in at 15:52 in the end, just waiting on the website to update before getting an official result but shouldn't be too far off that hopefully. 6 miles total for the day. Edit: official time, 15:51.

Well done! Delighted you enjoyed it. I was away on holidays, but now I'm BACK and raring to go at the race tomorrow! (well, that's an exaggeration -- I am full of food and ice cream after my holiday, but will be there tomorrow. Maybe see you?

I hope you enjoyed the holiday! Unsure about tomorrow. I have football on Wednesday that I may try and save the legs for, it could be a tough game. I was surprised last week how fatigued they were on the Wednesday! But I might run up to watch if not. I'll see how I feel tomorrow probably! I'll definitely catch another one if I don't make it this week
