turned off the radio as soon as i heard the presenter interviewing the couple from mayo and galway. Cringeworthy stuff

didn't fully pay attention to the Sunday Game last night as I was jetlagged as hell but what I did see was poor.

They were highlighting mayos footpassing and showed a clip of a ball being played into the forward line. The analyser said that the galway defending was slack even though the defender was touch tight to the mayo forward, the pass in was perfect. Why have a go at the defender in this situation?

the defending out the field I'd imagine they were talking about, being afforded the time to play the ball in. They definitely made that point in the Kildare Laois game, dont remember the talk of defending in the Mayo kickoassing analysis. And if they were highlighting the passing, then the defending is a secondary item in the analysis.

Galway's defending was really good to a degree, particularly in that first half the half-back line was aggressive and got out it front time and again to win ball but they lacked discipline in the tackle. Walsh must have had them really fired up going into that game. Mayo's kicking was very iffy.

The highlights they provide of the non televised matches is very poor. The camera for the Meath Wicklow game was behind a pole and then I'm pretty sur ethey didn't even bother to show what caused the 2 penalties Wicklow were awarded.

Absolute ****. Turned it off. You have county managers on the line and Shane Curran asking questions like: What's the deal with the fancy boots and What are your tactics for the Cork game.

The couple's thing was horribly cringeworthy.

Stop, that was just Father Ted stuff. We don't need so called entertainment like that. Even the name of the show was so bad I couldn't absorb it. At one stage someone suggest Gary Sice should be called up by Martin O'Neill... the program on nanotechnology after was much more entertaining! :D

Interesting that Tomas O'Se refused to patronise Tipp and pat them on the back for getting beaten despite being enticed to do so by Des Cahill.Straight talking no bull**** analysis from him.

He is a top class analyst,no BS.

Yep, I caught the first few minutes as well.
What's with Brenda and her need to breathlessly shout into the microphone??
It's pure car crash and nothing short of juvenile.

God help any listeners sitting in the Galway traffic who tuned in to get the national picture on the day's football.....

I found that Marty Squad cringeworthy coming home from Salthill!

But according to him they didn't really give them a good game.He gave the impression that Kerry coasted in the second half and Tipp really didn't put it up to them then.

It was worth a mention, but an ex Kerry player was not going to mention it especially as his brother was one of the backs! " How many players score two goals against Kerry in a Championship match?"

Good point. It was far from coasting. It could have been alot closer but for all the Tipp wides. We had 14 wides and Kerry only had 4/5. Still a big gulf in class there but positive strides being made with Football in Tipp. Alot more belief in last few years. Oh how Id love to see Declan Browne playing alongside a few of the young lads coming thru now.

well to be fair they have made 3 all ireland finals since they last won the all ireland so its not like they have vanished into the abyss they came very close to wining last year infairness

the reason why i highlighted it is he has become alot more vocal about it since clare won two years ago , you could be forgiving as a tipperary supporter for thinking he was trying to rub your nose in it

What did he say? I heard he was fairly frank in his assessment of limerick too

There is an article on the RTE News app with the headline

Coggins slams 'silly' Curran comments on London

There must be someone in RTE who is acting the mick and sticking it to Roscommon after last night because that story is a month old

basicaly he was saying the current tipperary team are too good to only have one all ireland under there belt and in truth he has been like a broken recored about it for the last two or 3 years , he had a stand off with the tipperary county board about the same issue after clare won the all ireland two years ago with his " dont be like tipp " battle cries to the clare lads in his media work

I am a Tipperary man and sometimes he does seem to be over critical of Tipp but he was right in what he was saying, if Tipp were playing KK today they would have taken over in that first ten mins of 2nd half and won.
I wouldn't be getting too carried away about the perfomance today as limerick were very poor

true they were very flat for around the first 10mins of the second half and yeah they do have things to work on , he's a broken record none the less though i think

Ya I know he annoys me a times but if Tipp were winning All Ireland's he would have no case but harsh truth is they are not, the only way to shut him up is to actually win the All Ireland.

McStay talking through his hole trying to make excuses for the cake fool. He reckons there more than one London in the championship, actually there isn't Kevin.

alot of these pundits expect the division 4 teams to be as good as the division 1 teams pat spilane is dead right its hugely important that the exilies get a look in , obviously cake has'nt been abroad too much , ruislip is one of the best venues in the gaa and is probably one of the most bitter sweet places you could visit , what ever about results london is probably one of the most important aspacts of the gaa , i would much prefer if london were introduced into the munster championship to give them a chance ,

The first ten minutes of the first half was even worse.

synopsis about monaghan was pretty much a mixed bag , better then most teams in the country but maybe that bit short of the likes of kerry and dublin , likley to cause donegal problems there next day (should they get there) but will probably fall short

in the game its self probably didnt reach there full potential a far better footballing side then fermanagh and probably playing within themselves

descent looking squad to be brining on the likes of dick cleckin half way through the game

you could read all that back in the tone of kevin mcstay or pat spilane or both , because they were pretty much singing from the same hymm sheet , the rte player will have it over night at some stage they were reluctent to say anything good or bad , as a neutral its kinda hard to argue with them though

I thought it was a bit of a half hearted defense of Curran by McStay, maybe he had been requested to take one side of the debate.

My problem with Curran was that his "analysis" was at odds with the game itself.

If Roscommon had won by 15 or 20 his pre prepared script would have had some validity, but they didn't and he just made an ass of himself.
