What's best site to use for a history check? Cartell my wheels?

Going to look at a car in the morning with very low mileage so want to check it before I go look at it.

Motorcheck is the best, gives more detail for the money.

There is a car abandoned at the top of my road for the past 6 months. No one knows who owns it. No tax/insurance/nct. Missing rear reg. It's an eyesore and a hazard. The local kids often mess around with it. They can get into it so its only a matter of time till someone gets hurt. The gardaì have been notified a few times but nothing has been done yet. Whats the next step to take?

Will they just come and take it away? Took a load of photos there with the suspected owner staring at me. Look at the state of this. You'd think the owner would just get one of the scrappys out and get a few quid for it

    Looks quite clean actually.
Why won't scumbags steal cars like these instead? Looks like no one has any interest in it.

Should I go rat style with the Punto? A part of me thinks I should. :P

Finally thought I had a new car sorted. Salesman asked me to come back Saturday and we would arrange a deal (he told me this on Monday). I had been in previously to view it and it was clear that I was interested in it. Took a spin past the garage today to see a "SOLD" sign on the window. Didnt even bother going in. Guess its time to go back searching again :(

I would buy it for €50-€100.

Would it be sold to you by any chance?
while it would be unusual for a dealer to mark a car sold without a deposit it is possible.

Is it normal for a white Transit to pull up to your house and ask if you want to buy tools?

As much as I would like that, I doubt it.
Just checked their website and its gone from it.

I'll give them a call on Monday morning and see, but in fairness he did say that he had a few people in asking about it and it was good value!

Generally I'd take the reg and head down to the local building site. ;)

Bah, you know that feeling when you would like to change your car and you see a few potential candidates and all is grand until you realise: you know your car, you know work done to it, it was reliable and great runner for years and you do know that almost any car you will buy, will have some hidden issues and headaches... So you just say feck it, maybe next time...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,295 ✭✭✭Supergurrier

Them feels when you are going along in driving lane on a dual carriageway at a fair aul lick and a Porsche Cayman flies by :p

Fun diff removed, sad times :(

All new bushings in the front though to complement the new rubber :)

Tired and sore, have learned my lesson to just buy whole wishbones and not bushings in future!
