Perhaps your next venture could be insuring literally anyone on literally anything for feck all. I hear it's worked well in the past ;-)

I cannot understand how businesses like this can legally operate all around the world but here.

I find it quite odd that I got quote of €950 for a 2000 Volkswagen Bora 1.6 on August 2014 and when I switched to '98 1.4 Golf estate, '01 1.4 Astra 5door hatchback and '01 1.2 Punto 3door hatchback the price haven't changed, they just asked for €25 each time - which is what they charge to print out a new cert.

Also, they wouldn't let me change my insurance temporarily to the Astra because it was on my name, I had to do the €25 permanent change. :/

It depends on how many months have passed of the insurance year when you swapped insurance over to those cars.

If it's been recent then it makes sense because you spent most of the insurance year driving the Bora.

Insurance renewal coming up in September.

    I will be 20, 1 year NCB (hopefully), 1999 Toyota Yaris 1.0.

I put in a test quote on 123.ie, here's the result:

    Third Party Fire & Theft
    €10,193.91
Or 8 monthly instalments of only €996.35 and a deposit of €2,980.32

    :D

They are being rented out by people who quite obviously want nothing but to rag them. Every couple of weeks they will need brakes and tires, and whatever else might come up.

You can't exactly go putting Triangles on an M3 you plan on giving to some 20-odd year old from Clondalkin.

And as an aside, two words; public liability.

I feel I should pull you up on the "triangles" Even If I had a rolls or a Ferarri, I would continune to put on budget tyres tbh.

Decided to see what my 123.ie quote would be. My insurance is due for renewal on August.

    I'm 20, will have 2 years NCB, 2001 Fiat Punto 1.2

    Third Party Fire & Theft
    €3,462.35
Or 8 monthly instalments of only €335.82 and a deposit of €1,031.03

    :D

Funnily enough, I just got mine in the door this morning. I reckon they're taking the piss

    Liberty:
    24, 7 years NCB, E46 320Cd
    Fully comp
    0 points/claims

    €1,070.31

I've been on the phone and in brokers all morning trying to get a decent quote, best is €500 with step back in a broker through a company called Zenith or €550 with bonus protection. Everyone else is €700 plus.

AIG took an age to give the quote given I had to spell EVERYTHING for them including Tipperary.

Why though? I mean it's such a pointless post that I shouldn't even bother asking, sure you might as well get Advance pit stop to service it too and use LiDl oil...!

Nothing wrong with Lidl oil if it meets the spec on your car.

Unlikely to work out for the ferrari rolling on linglongs.
Although to be fair, maybe twas an sdi caddy powerpants meant - premium cars, budget cars - they're all the same like!

Good quality tyres at knockdown cheap prices, just do not see the issue and still have not read an opposing view that would change my mind.

As for lidl oil, never knew they did this, thanks for the heads up. Have never set foot in a lidl or aldi before but this could tempt me to do just that

Do any manufacturer put ditch finders on new cars? I think you'll find the answer is no.

That says it all really. ;)

Is this thread little by little derailing in to tyre snobbery thread? Wait, I'll get popcorn lads! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,540 ✭✭✭Special Circumstances

Accelera make tyres for a car that's quicker (to 50kmph lol) than several ferraris/lambos.
    They're crap.
