Anyone had a Cheilectomy? (Bone spurs removed from foot)

So I sustained an injury nearly a year ago which has led to the formation of little bone spurs at the base of my big toe. I've tried every conservative treatment to try and resolve the problem.

I've spent months in a Walker Boot, worn loads of different orthotics, gotten both prolotherapy and cortisone shots yet nothing resolved the problem.

The sports doctor I visited recently told me if nothing worked after a few months of taking it easy I would need surgery. So that's what I want to do.

Just wondering if anyone has had one done in Ireland and could recommend anywhere?

I see that in London there's a placethat does it via Keyhole Surgery. This apparently leads to a much shorter recovery time. Would that be a good idea?

I would be interested in hearing same..
Mine I think is more at the hallux limitus stage, but do not want to have to wear orthotics indefinitely

I know you are asking about Ireland, but fyi:
this is a reasonably detailed experience of someone who had the op done in US

I'd really like to hear how you've been getting on since your post. I'm in exactly the same situation thanks to a few karate injuries

Looks like surgery will be the only way for me to get rid of pain. Where did you get the procedure done? How successful has it been?

My teenage son got this done in the hermitage in lucan
Seems successful a year later

very well looked after there and on return

no issues since and had been thru a lot of pain for the year up to it
