I'm siding with Morrissey on this one. A first for me.

Morrissey really gets far too much attention. He’s a silly middle-aged bore. His autobiography was one of the most sanctimonious and petty bits of drivel I’ve ever had the misfortune to read.

Even his lyrics with The Smiths get far too much praise. Wow, he was a depressed and self-absorbed teenager in the 70’s in England. He had no clothes to wear. He felt awkward. We get it. It’s like he read a few kitchen-sink plays and based his career as a perpetual sulky man-child on it.

The bizarre hero worship he gets from some people is utterly cringe-inducing.

Marr said it best about Morrissey when he penned "Getting Away With It".

Johnny Marr....great musician, could have been in a legendary band, ended up stuck with moody arse. Just shows ye, life is harsh.

Neil Tennant and bernard sumner wrote that didn't they?

    All three are credited.

Not sure who was having a go, but Marr certainly didn't object!

Always thought it sounded like a typically Neil Tennant lyric myself.

This is the kind of enjoyable trainspotter argument that makes my wife raise her eyes to heaven.

If Michael Brown had been one of Obama's daughters then I'm pretty sure Barack would have been looking for a DNA test, quick sharp, not to mention a medic's opinion on why the hell his daughter had a penis.

Favouite Obama moment for me so far is when he called Mr Kardashian a jackass.

    Ah. Maybe so.

I like New Order and Electronic myself, but as Sumner had such a slight, weak voice he possibly shouldn't have aimed "getting away with it" lyrics at anyone!

Stephen Morris on drums was some musician though. Machine like. One of the best drummers ever.

Not seeing what's so controversial about it tbh. Morrissey (much as I adore The Smiths and some of his solo output) has been known to say far more inflammatory stuff. I think it's a pretty left-wing-populist thing to say tbh. Something Stephen Patrick isn't usually known for.

Obama has done one great thing Obamacare. NOW WAIT HEAR ME OUT OK!!!

It's one of the most effective culture changes in the states. I think on the same level as Thatcher changed culture in the UK only in the opposite direction.

I know it's compulsory insurance not universal healthcare through taxation. But finally in the US people are compelled to buy healthcare. And now there is the general idea that everyone SHOULD have and MUST have healthcare and health insurance. THAT is a HUGE culture shift it's why the right HATE Obama so much.

I agree he did not use his presidency to aid minorities as much as he could have. But can you imagine what the republican party would have done????

As the Sparks said 'LIGHTEN UP MORRISSEY'. Listen to that song! And Sparks in general!

And also putting the onus on OBAMA to support black people sort of lets the rest of the establishment off the hook. The entire establishment should be held to account!

They'd have probably got involved in a couple of legally dubious military misadventures, expanded the surveillance and security state in the US, sucked up to Wall Street and done their bidding without question... actually which party is Obama in again?!
