Sure, Westwood's been at it for years...

Dolezal is the president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). !

I thought 'coloured people' was an offensive term. But there is an organisation with it in their name. I thought correct was 'black' or people of colour'

The name of the organisation predates the societal change to black or "POC".

All I can think is that she must have been really passionate about helping the black community and maybe thought that she'd be scorned because of her race and decided that the best thing she could do was to tell people she was mixed race and then it just got out of hand.

    Or she has 'issues'.

Makes me think of J-Roc and Clayton Bigsby.

She may have 'issues', I'm not saying she doesn't. You know how it is though; someone asks why you're interested in gardening and you make some flippant off-the-cuff remark about being Monty Don's cousin and the next thing you know you've been made head of the Town Beautification scheme and are praying that no-one thinks to invite 'Cousin Monty' to the groundbreaking ceremony.

    She must like police bullets.

I've yet to meet a human being who doesn't

I have no idea if this is a reference to something or you've just made it up but I enjoyed it a lot.

I feel quite bad for her. I think a lot of us have told a lie that's escalated more than we envisioned and probably know how it feels to get caught out. These have only been minor things for me so I can only imagine how she felt with such a huge kind of alter ego creation she's made coming crashing down. I found it hard to watch.

Aye, true enough SC, however she's got more issues than Time's back catalogue. Nuttier than squirrel poo. Odd. The media won;t help what recovery she needs mind you.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

You're right. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if this ends in suicide.

So if she self identified as a man its worth celebrating but if you self identify as black you have "issues". Gotta love that AH consistency!

Unless she was somehow extracting money or favours from people by pretending to be black, I don't see how it's a "con". Maybe she self identifys as black because everything inside her tells her she's black. What harm is she doing. Some closed minded hypocrisy going on in here.

It's because she is a black rights leader. She claimed a history of oppression.

Why haven't I been invited to any transgenderism celebrations on here? Is it because I'm a straight white male? ****ing racist heterophobes!

Does anyone else feel that what this woman has done is unbelievably disrespectful to the black community in America?

No. Not at all. Are drag queens unbelievably disrespectful to women?
I cannot understand why this kind of thing causes so much ridiculous drama.

I suppose some of the problems people have isn't about how she identifies herself but how she presents herself. Claiming to have come from a similiar background to those her organisation represents and facing the same issues (such as racial discrimination) because of being a black lady.

there seems to be more to the story

she was a black civil rights leader claiming african heritage when her parents claim they of european stock

I guess it's more to do with her position than anything to do with her identity issues.

The real mystery is how the hell she fooled anybody - what with her clearly being a white girl with a bad perm and all, she should at least have went to chartbusters and tanned up a bit.

Since this is an issue of self-identity, comparisons with a contemporary case of self-identity- such as Bruce Jenner's- are totally valid.

In stark contrast to being warned by the mods not to speak about Bruce Jenner's transformation in anything less than positive terms we are told by the mods in no uncertain terms that this woman's transformation is an attempt to con people and the result of psychological issues.

The double standards, hypocrisy and prejudice are laughable.

In america they have the 'one drop' rule. So it wouldn't be inconceivable for someone with her complexion to be seen as black. Its just an absurd out growth of racialism in America.

It would be laughable if it weren't so serious.

This woman has the right to identify herself in any way she likes and now she is being pilloried because of it.

    It is shameful.

She told people she was born in a teepee and hunted for food with a bow and arrow. If Jenner starts waxing lyrical about how harrowing her first period when she went through puberty was, she'll be pilloried too. It also seems like your wan in the OP has invented 9 hate crimes against herself. This goes far beyond self identifying.

Haha made me chuckle. But I'm not gonna thank it because I'm an SJW and you should be ashamed of yourself.

If you think about it,it does seem a bit strange there is acceptance of changing gender, but feeling an affinity with another race/culture to the degree that you want to mimic their ways and appearance to be authentically accepted as one of them is a serious psychological issue.
