But we do have a parade. Everyday we have a parade in every village, town and city in the world. And we parade even more explicitly at night and in nightclubs, bars, teenage discos etc. Everyday life is a celebration of being straight. And no, it doesn't make us homophobes, just as having a specific parade on a specific day wouldn't make us homophobes either. Unless of course you wanted that parade to specifically suggest that being straight is right, and more natural than being gay, or that being gay is unnatural. In that case, yes, we would be homophobes. The internet is hard work today.

But being straight is more natural.

At least, depending on what definition of natural you're using.

You might get away with it in American cities, but if you tried to have a straight parade in a city as winding as Cork or Dublin, you'd get stuck at the first corner.

So is Cahirmee Horse Fair a pride festival for Travellers?

Nobody 20 miles outside of Buttevant knows what that is. :p
There can be no doubt that in the lead up to the referendum any straight people on the no side were badly oppressed. That is a fact.

So, what you want is a bigot pride march?

Imagine if the high horse band found out about a white and straight pride parade. They'd trip over themselves to condemn it.

That which occurs in nature. Therefore, straight and gay are both entirely and equally natural. What on Earth is "more natural" even supposed to mean? Are gays half-natural and half-engineered by scientists?

Also: I'm loving the amount of passive-aggressive people who sound like they'd love to be making homophobic comments and are very angry the world has moved on to the point where they know they can't get away with it.

I've given this important question some serious thought & I guess the depressing truth for us straighties is that we're just not fabulous enough. :(

Oppression is the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner

So that's a no then, sorry.

Why doesn't such a thing exist?

Feel free to organise, but it sounds fairly ****:

"What do we want? Em, actually we already have it. Oops."

Not sure you understand the difference between oppression and disagreement, but at any rate they weren't treated that way for being straight. They were treated that way for being awful people.

I'm more curious as to why we can't have a straight only Olympics. The gay games are OK so why not straight?

Are they though? Not every person who voted no was/is an awful person. They just had different belief systems to you (and me for that matter). Of course, there were some awful people voting no. But don't be as bigoted as them by tarring all no voters with the one brush.

As for Straight Pride, Gay Pride, Black Pride, White Pride, etc; it's the categories that we put ourselves in that keeps us apart. Everyone is different and it's a great thing to be proud of your difference but it is also the thing that keeps people separated. I'm a straight, white woman and I'm no different to a gay, black man. We are both people and isn't it great that we both have the capacity to love another person. How about People Pride?! Hopefully not too many animals will feel left out.

In what sense? There are festivals all over the world celebrating human sexuality. Perhaps they do not use the name "Straight Pride" but otherwise I am not sure what you might be expecting to be different. Some of them are quite good too - I recommend you try them out. Or failing that down load some old episodes of Eurotrash which used to send reporters to go cover them on occasion.
