Thought Donal Og and Daly didn't hold back when analyzing a fairly pathetic Dublin performance.

Especially considering Daly would know those lads, and Donal Og would be fairly close to Ger Cunningham

Yeah I was shocked that Daly really was straight up about how unacceptable Dublin were and was willing to speculate about the lack of bottle they seem to have when there's expectation around them. He wasn't protecting "his boys" by any means, but wasn't sticking the knife in on anyone either. It was refreshing to see honest analysis where a conflict of interest might have produced an almost understandable reticence.

Apologies, didn't know where to put this. Basically, yet another example of how out of touch with reality a few GAA heads can be. Munster GAA are seemingly attempting to prohibit video analysis of games under their remit.
A few choice quotes from the article:

"their (Munster GAA) preferred option is for counties to use the live video feed from the RTÉ website." “This feed should suffice" said Munster GAA CEO Simon Moroney...Sweet suffering Jesus, the RTE website feed is appalling. The quality of the picture AND the feed would be nowhere near the standard needed for proper analysis.

The best line of all though is the follow on quote:

"This can be done from the viewing area from either stand. A workbench will not be available but well positioned seats can be arranged once adequate notice is given."
They think it should be no hassle for analysts (along with whatever equipment they use, laptops, GPS etc) to sit in the stand in Thurles, Killarney, Limerick or Páirc ui Rinn? :rolleyes: Are they being dumb or just deliberately obtuse? Imagine a video analyst in any of those grounds with spectators pushing past them, jumping around, waving flags etc..while they are trying to analyse the game and communicate with the sideline..

Once more I find myself wondering if these people are for real?

That's just so...gaa...for want of a better word. It particularly comes as no surprise coming from a provincial council official.

Moroney writes: “While technically possible to provide a cabled ‘live feed’ in some locations within certain stadia it raises serious health and safety issues viz a viz the protection of both the patrons and indeed the cable itself en route and the potential disruption if technical failure or other issues arise. There would also be a cost factor falling on the counties requiring same. This option is not therefore permitted.”

Could somebody else figure out what the hell the meaning of that is, because it completely escapes me.

It's not what he meant, but my personal reading of that is "GAA team preparation and management has moved into the 21st century..GAA administration and many facilities, have not".

I mean that quote about the cable amounts to something akin to a scene from Fr Ted!

The administration and officialdom in the GAA is the only amateur part left...some of these idiots wouldn't have a clue what video analysis would entail, probably thinks it might lead to professionalism or something, you would think they have more pressing matters to deal with, it's all about keeping onto the little bit of power they have...

Will the RTE commentary box in Thurles be open on Sunday? If it is and Pat Spillane and Tomas O Se are in there, I think there should be a silent Tipp representative in there a, just to get some idea of what a Kerry panellist is saying ( there are no Tipp people on the panel ).

Four of the panellists will be doing the other live games on Sunday.

Cannot see Pat Spillane take a seat in the stand, I am sure he will have no trouble getting a seat in a press box, if he is at the game and not an analyst!

Absolute ****. Turned it off. You have county managers on the line and Shane Curran asking questions like: What's the deal with the fancy boots and What are your tactics for the Cork game.

The couple's thing was horribly cringeworthy.

Just because some is "character"/acts the clown- RTE assume that he will be entertaining- I think it is embarrassing to see him on tv.

its the same for years there seems to be a number of "character's" from my neck of the woods too i was always under the impression that the producer must own a holiday home down in clare somewhere

Would agree, not alone did he not patronise them, but he did not even give a 3rd Division League team credit for giving Kerry such a good game! Never mentioned Michael Quinlivan and his two goals against Kerry, how many players are going to score two goals against Kerry this year?

But according to him they didn't really give them a good game.He gave the impression that Kerry coasted in the second half and Tipp really didn't put it up to them then.

I suppose for people who were at the matches and didn't see them on TV. I was happier seeing more on that game then the Meath v Wicklow game, but that's a personal choice.

Not a huge football fan but was at the game and Kerry breezed through the second half, took tipp 15 minutes to get their first score of the second half. Kerry took their foot off the gas a bit and tipp had a few more scores so the score line looked better for them in the end but Kerry were never threatened really bar the first 15 where tipp played like men possesed.
13 wides for tipp also which is unforgivable, if half of em went over it would have been a closer affair, Kerry only had 5. Football in tipp is coming along nicely but still has a long way to go.

What's with Brenda and her need to breathlessly shout into the microphone??
It's pure car crash and nothing short of juvenile.

God help any listeners sitting in the Galway traffic who tuned in to get the national picture on the day's football.....

Speaking personally I want to binge on analysis and debate about games in the immediate aftermath of them, whether I have been at the game or seen it on TV.
I want to hear what national pundits, journalists etc have to say about the game, I don't really care what the manager on the bus has to say.
This show does not give me enough of this, neither did 'Second Captains', there is too much BS in them.

I love Des Cahill, it's like they let your laid-back uncle present a very popular television show even though he's probably better suited to minding the D.I.Y. shop.

On a more serious note, a team foul rule has to be introduced for football. Persistent off the ball fouling killed the Connacht semi-final and sullied much of the good play we'd seen. It's very simple. Have a sideline assistant with a 'clicker', tally 5 frees against one team and immediately award a 20m free in front of the posts to the fouled against team. It would cut out a lot of the cynical play much more effectively than the black card.
