It's how they are trained and thought, also they are given military surplus supplies which doesn't help

Lack of/poorly executed(Pun unintended) training with regards to maintaining a calm mode of thinking in a civilian environment.
And of course, the ex-military recruits are to be considered.

Unless you have lived in america and experienced the two tier society there its hard to comprehend.

These were poor black kids who had gone into a white neighbourhood to use the pools there which pissed the locals off.

Guess who the cops are "protecting" there.

America is a segregrated, bigoted racist society where black people are marginalised, segregated and ignored until they get beaten back down by the organs of the state.

The police forces are aggressive, curropt, armed and dealing with poor black kids with nothing to lose who get involved in rampant crime because they cant get a break in their underfunded useless public schools. The police see young black kids as criminals. Its ingrained.

In that environment police bullying some teenagers is a daily occurance.

What's a 'community pool' and why don't we have them?

    That was funny

The Gardai cop flak on many occasions, but they're several levels above the troglodytes that make up many American police forces. The NYPD in my experience are professional and courteous, but police in other states I've been to operate almost like a military occupying force and have an awful rapport with the communities they're policing.

02:28 "get outta here, I already told you ..... leave now ... you are leaving now" towards woman.

02:55 "you know what..." goes to where the woman is standing.

Grabs woman, and tires to put her face down on the ground.

03:11 white male takes cap off, but his body language causes the cop to draw the weapon. Only draws, never takes aim. As far as I can see, he only points the gun towards the ground.

    =-=

I can see him being taken off suspension in a month or so.

Good. While the kids where clearly in the wrong the cop was far too heavy handed in dealing with a couple teens who broke into a gated community.

I think the problem was they trespassed in a gated community. Not that they were black. But just keep coming to conclusions.

An unstable ex-military - now - police officer of which has a serious mental expression of a control-freak. Stand in that fcuking line son, and don't fcuking move, get down when I say, get the fcuk down now, I have a major malfunction people, and I will shoot you if you fcuking blink at me.

Get the fcuk down on the ground now, now, I mean fcuking now.

I was waiting for Jim Leahey to walk onto the video three-quarters way through, and then randy.

Ex-Military should be excluded/banned from societal police enforcement. They lack professional teachings in regards on how to deal with modern societal issues, and therefore are a danger to all Citizens.

I'm agreeing with Jank.... We're getting a bit obsessed with the police force in the US....

I wonder how many police officers there are in the US and how many individual, peaceful, happy interactions they have daily (I mean there are plenty of videos out there of US police spontaneously stopping to play basketball with kids etc but we're not interested in posting them up are we......)

Why are we here in AH getting our knickers in a twist about them. I doubt I'd be wrong to suggest there are much worse police forces in the world when it comes to corruption and rights abuses.....

Unless you have something to back this statement up it just remains complete and utter BS... You're even managing to insult a regular poster here who is military and is more rational, calm, collected and thoughtful than a number of posters combined....

In fact, if you ask me.... if someone is trained to be calm and collected whilst literally being under fire in a warzone then I imagine this translates quite well to staying calm in stressful situations in the police force... But you do seem to have a chip on your shoulder so I doubt this would make any sense to you....

The trouble with people recording with smartphones is you only see one side of the story, having said that though in this case he seemed a bit heavy handed with the kid.

I've been living over here for 3.5 years. It's been my experience that some less than qualified people with military backgrounds get hired into positions that regular civilians with the same qualifications would not. Companies get tax credits for hiring veterans. They also get the draw of saying we hire veterans (Patriots love that sh1t)

Does this go on in the police forces though? I'm not so sure.

I have a friend serving in the forces. He's looking forward to finishing up. He's sick of his commanders and the way they get treated by superiors. Poor b@stard doesn't realize most companies middle managers are ex military. There's no escaping it.

As for the police. It's not just a white on black thing. Poor white people are discriminated against too.

It's also not all police. I've had to speak to a few police officers. Only once when I was on the wrong end, though. But that one time, I was polite and respectful. He was very friendly to me.

The only time I was physically assaulted by a police officer was in Galway :)

    Two comments come to mind.

That cop was way OTT in cuffing that girl, I'm sure his training could let him cuff her without such brute force, I can see he was frightened by being surrounded and pulled the gun as a gut reaction, it's what they're trained to do, bet his own actions got him there.

The second thing. These snippets if videos being selectively edited and published need to be taken with a pinch of salt. God knows what the lead up to the start of that clip was, god knows what abuse was dished out or laws broken. Not saying the reaction was appropriate to anything, just that these selective videos aren't good to base a big decision on.
